From glaucoma to chemotherapy
Medical marijuana has its place
But you won’t find any prescribed
In the conservative Sunshine State

Chris couldn’t eat while under treatment
Watched him lose one-hundred pounds
He had no access to an appetite stimulant
His weight was 85 when laid in the ground

Hefty Jen had lived a life of kindness
Taught spiritually uplifting courses
She suffered when chemo raced through her system
Until people said, “How beautifully slim her corpse is.”

When Dad’s glaucoma grew severe
He relied only on eye drops that made him tear
His gift of sight was taken slowly
Though THC might have helped his eyes clear

And when I first wrestled with ulcerative colitis
A college friend brought me a joint, said, “Try it”
Less than an hour later I was eating without pain
But laws are clear, Florida doctors can’t prescribe it

Research has proved there are benefits
Only medical marijuana use can provide
But those who worry about drug abuse
Say those who could benefit should be denied

Each day in the headlines we read of drunk drivers
Mostly teens who seek access through friends
And if they want marijuana, they find a way to get it
But for those who abide by laws, agony never ends

If smoking pot or ingesting a tablet of THC
Can help a person who is suffering great pain
Don’t you think the time has come
To ask prohibitionists to explain

Why people who are hurting needlessly
Cannot have access to any remedy
That soothes their aches, improves their last days
Diminishing the symptoms of their tragedy

Premium Member Sinking Into a True Despair

Sinking into a True Despair

It’s like trying to shoot a monstrous ghost that you can’t ever see,
and, at the same time, this applies when one wants to kill a rumor,
and where everything is just like water running off a duck’s back,
and when you can’t see the source of it as it disappears over time.
Yet, if this leak becomes a true object of issue and a real concern,
then all the damage is irreparable and beyond any hope of saving.
It’s at this stage that we choose to cut our losses and to move on.
And, why not? Despair is always a part of the human experience.
Yet, where there is “despair” there can also be “hope,” if each of
us have the courage to summon it and to never take counsel of
our own fears. Hope can spring eternal, if the human will is stout
and courageous. Let us hope so and make it so!

Premium Member I'Ve Solved One Climate Change Issue

About climate change and its effects there has been a lot of chatter.

One concern is that the sea-level is rising and I think I know the matter.

My research reveals that there is a dearth of sea sponges, (that is my notion).

We need to increase the growth of sponges to soak up the water in the ocean!

(Concocted with considerable tongue in cheek!)

Nudism - the Important Issue of the Hour

It is difficult to get rid of the false self
A believable mask has taken years to develop
Such safety precautions demand extensive disguising
Dear i ask, why can't we all be living in the bare?

The conditioning begins at a young age
Everyone is trained to look good at every stage
Shame on you if you don't protect your private space
Outrage will result if someone is caught in public Nude.

Who makes this decision, and why does everyone follow orders?
Since we only bring our skin from the divine with us,
Being bashful, prideful, or ashamed is not a problem for me;
Instead, i admire animals for being so pure and unadulterated.

There are laws that punish what is considered lewd behaviour
Such behaviour is blasphemous in some religions
It's widely accepted that Adam and Eve were covered in leaves
It's deemed wickedness to uphold one's birthright.

There are absurdities in religious doctrine, which is truly unfortunate
Should individuals disregard the regulations they are made to dread?
Some female folk are told to cover even their head
Many are compelled to hide their body or off with their head.

I seek honesty,
Which would leave me vulnerable,
As is pretty obvious
Should this be the case, i persist in being true to myself.

I am not just a bare-Naked black man
I am a christian bisexual bare-Naked black man.

Premium Member The Big Issue

Cardboard lay’s upon the floor
In front of the shop it blocks the door
A tell tale sign of a poor night’s sleep
Warm and dry they try to keep.
Safe inside - we lock the door
Without a thought for the really poor?
When night does fall, the risks are great
A real cold night could seal their fate.
A wash and shave and comb the hair
What could we do to show we care?
But remember this, they feel the cold
And it gets worse as they grow old.
So think about what other ways
You could ensure your good deed pays.
Soup, blankets and toilet tissue
Or stop and chat when they shout “Big Issue”?!

Premium Member Darting the Issue - Hoof Hearted

Two players were vying at darts,
there’s chaos when somebody farts
Both players deny
letting a fart fly
and suddenly the trouble starts

Maybe their gut gave them some gyp,
and secretly they just let rip
The smell of rotten eggs
wafted between his legs
This wasn’t deemed good gamesmanship!

The farting was done with precision,
and captured on the television
The stench lingered around
till the winner was crowned
It’s lucky it’s not smellovision!

I couldn’t resist writing after reading this article in the press!

Why I love C.D’s poem “ A Highly Debated Issue”:

Carolyn Devonshire’s poems showcase the extraordinary thoughtful mind behind those lines. All of Carolyn’s poems are profound, and full of depth, but this poem especially touched me - I had the similar experience of losing a beloved one to the deadly disease, and we were not able to give him relief during the last days of intense pain. Carolyn was a strong, sensitive, generous, caring human being and a talented poetess, who loved life in her own way - she loved sand, and left her footprints on the shores of this mysterious earth.

A Family Issue

coming back home
they forsaken me
what have I done so wrong?

The Social Issue

Healing, making well, curing, relating to a paralytic, exorcising demons
MLK laid the path for black rights and equality
Was Jesus social issue not the ill and disabled, health and medicine?

The Fall

Let the fall of your habits come while the windows are down,
Let the fall of your memories come in this tremendous town,
Let the fall of your appetite arrive until it is not deserved,
Let the winter come when you have not truly lived anymore.

Let the snow roll over in your dreams,
When the door was open, you were in false fallacies,
Let your little shadow cast on me,
I never took your appearance leaning on me.

Bury all of your secrets in my skin,
Bury until you are falsely clean,
Bury all the pictures and candid acclaim,
Bury our existence until we are buried in our graves.

You were a tiny dragon,
I was looking for a pure pigeon,
While you used to breathe on my shoulder,
I was counting on your deathbed wishes.

Until your last wish, I am only mine,
Could never be your candid appetite.
I am used to being my own paradise,
Where fall lasts only two months.

The Nuclear Issue

The Nuclear Issue.
There they sit the high and mighty
And their lackeys it is serious
Business, who can have them and
Who cannot have them.

How important they are these
People who dare not think or whisper
About the elephant in the room, yet
It sits there glaring for all to see.

Confirm or not to confirm, we know
They have it. Will this conference fail?
Most likely, the enemy of a deal only
 Wants total surrender.

———————————-
No synonyms to speak…
No other lines
    To divert from this focus…
No parallels existing to such
A tale of faith to power,

I am forever touched
By the telling
Of a simple sister’s soul from
Deep
         Rising

— In her desperate struggle
To reach for
An any touch
Of him
— Who she Knew in Truth
Could…Would be
  Her…And for the every one,
The
Omnipotent - here has come!

Finally
The healing
    By any simple touch of
The
King of kings.

Skirt the Issue

Wake up all you parents
you must be on alert
Laws are changing, not too good
for men that wear a skirt

Next time you're out in public
and need a bathroom break
That ladies room you want to use
may be a sad mistake

You go into the ladies room
a male is standing there
Nonchalantly changing clothes
he looks at you, he's bare

You scream and quickly run outside
yelling for police
Sex Offender, Pedophile
just to say the least

Your daughter's sobbing and upset
the trauma is too much
Hiding in the bathroon stall
she said he tried to touch

Police assure you, change in law
the Courts are on his side
Anything he wants to be
he does not have to hide

In his mind he is a girl
does that mean that you are wrong?
Indecency (what used to be)
it is now a different song

Courts are telling you God's wrong
is common sense wrong too?
Change the world and our belief
just to please a few

Something's very wrong right here
our world's turned upside down
Can't let the Liberal left win this
High Court needs to rebound.....
