Best If You Poems

If You Weren'T Such a Nut Meg

She had so many chances
Yet she kept muffin it up
Butter intentions were good
Just not much coffee in her cup

Couldn’t make a good decision
Too much waffling back and forth
Always peppered with doubt
Should she head south, no maybe north

Still, she was fun at a party
I would say, hummus a tune
She’d say, "Icing because I’m happy"
As the words began to croon

Maybe that’s what’s most important
Omelet let her off the hook
So she’s always in a pickle
Doesn’t do things by the book

Once again, I’m gonna help her
Since she is such a good egg
I said, girl, you’d go much farther
If you weren’t such a nut Meg

A Blessing If You Would Learn

The heart when young, so blissful and knows no sin
the mind's ego knows no bounds, its strength within

The earth, sound and steep, its fruits the soul entice
the taste of spice great! to every slice a price

The eyes rain and the mouth would savour its pain
when dry is your land, sow no seed, reap no grain

Valiant steps fear no edge nor the burn of sands
wish die for the glory of walking God's Lands

Specks of dust make souls blind can turn lives to dust
just a spark of deep Faith heralds paths to trust

Ascend and observe, gems in you aim to earn
What seems as harm, a blessing if you would learn

God for you paves paths and lends many a hand
a deep well of Love granted to flood your land

Those warm drops of Love and Life, in time of birth
brought heaven under your feet, mothers of earth

Peace and joy in voice of heart to God raise praise
light in soul, a power with beauty would blaze

Brushes and pens paint and a language translate
the soul ebb and flow beyond language and state.

If You Really Knew Me

If you Really Knew Me
By Kevin Robey
Febraury 16, 2013

If you really knew me, you’d see through these lies
The smiles and laughs, can’t conceal my eyes
You won’t ask questions, you won’t suspect
You won’t see it coming, my final misstep

If you read this now, you know it’s true
Maybe there never was a me and you
So many times, I fall so hard
Don’t rise again, joy’s much too far

I wish I was stronger, but my mind is stuck
I made it this far, based solely on blind luck
I know you’d tell me, to take it easy
This upcoming part may make you queasy

Be kind, and notify my next of kin
Leave out the part of my final sin
Another one in line with many
Proof I was my own worst enemy

Join me in my dark and twisted fantasy
Of opened wrists, my last reality
My breathing slows, as the crimson glistens
My thoughts are peaceful, lean in and listen

Let’s make this emo, and write a note
I’ll even throw in a depressing quote
Maybe goodbye, sorry, and such
You say I had it all, I say not so much

These medals and trophies seem to say
That I made the most of every day
The truth is I was simply biding my time
None of those moments were truly mine

You see everything, but I leave with nothing
Didn’t believe me, you accused me of bluffing
So see me now, as I bleed to the floor
Take time and read to me that final score

The end is here, the war is won
The battle is lost, but wasn’t it fun?
Torturous dreams and false realities
Were the only real friends to me

So it’s time to sign out
I promise not to shout
Sweep me under the rug
Let me go, I’ll pull the plug

The end is here, I’m so relieved
Despite of all I managed to achieve
Don’t cry for me, I’m finally happy
This is my last wish, my final plea

So I close my eyes for the final time
I think to the beauty in words that rhyme
My final exhale marks the final scene
Knowing nothing is ever, quite as it seems

If You Were Mine

If you were mine...

If you were mine…our footsteps would

dance on moonlit verandas
while candle lit shimmers enticed my smiled reflections
with your arms tightly around me

symphonies would play to the rhythm of your charm
as we swayed in the essence of forever
on cloud soft concertos of affection’s melodic whispers

eternal echoes would sing in harmony to your eyes,
hauntingly dark invitations to my endless destination,
soothing seductions comforting weathered longings

If you were mine…satin beaches would

eclipse tan line passions
beneath glistening waves of aquamarine salt water bliss
gently caressing the depth of our love

palm leaf shadows would weave embracing patterns
of ocean fed breezes tickling our naked forms
as sea foam fingers probe pearl smooth valleys

sunset tides would tease beneath star orchid heavens
blooming of every wished for fantasy…
lasting happily ever after upon sandcastles dreams

If you were mine…my world would

be a mosaic of delirious euphoric visions
in constant creative motion delivering sincerely
every ounce of joy your heart could desire

each sunrise would be the sweet essence of your spirit
vibrant in wonders of colorful poetic offerings
versed in accordance with your every need

happiness would begin with promises kept
as we walked along endless streams of hand held blessings,
two hearts loving as one forevermore

If you were mine…oh, if you were mine

Good night Soupers

Premium Member If You Love Her

Listen to her with all of you
   Your fists clenched
   Your lips together
Your head moving, slightly, side to side

Perched on the edge of your seat
   Tilt your spine forward

Search for the soul deep within her eyes
   Gently ... Don't frighten her

Make her feel she is the most important person in the whole world
Nothing else matters except what she is telling you

Hear what is in her voice
   Her interests ... become yours

Capture her heart
   Never let it go

If You Are the Ocean...

If you are the ocean, then I am the mist
which kisses the morning the way children kissed
their mother at breakfast to start a new day
If you are the ocean, then anchors aweigh
We'll sail through the evening and on to the light
The daystar is dawning, we'll keep to the right
like Peter and Wendy to Neverlands' door
we'll sail on forever and touch every shore
If you are the ocean, come wash me away
to some misty morning and there we will play
on beaches you've loved all your lovely life long
If you are the ocean, then sing me a song
of sailors and treasures and I'll have to say
If you are the ocean, come wash me away...

Premium Member If You Are Lonely

If you are lonely watch the birds
In their freedom of flight--
Feel the warmth of the sun
Kiss your cheeks and smile
Visit the shore and listen to
The waves sing sweet songs
Close your eyes and smell the
Fragrant flowers of spring
Transport yourself through
Time’s great abyss
In memories of streams that
Flow with a youthful glow. . .
Dive in pools of aqua waters
Through your mind’s eye
Delight in the breezes playful
Mood as the trees sway in tune
Listen to the purr of a
Contented cat in your lap
Write a letter to yourself
And promise to answer. . .
Better yet write a poem,
One that will linger long
In someone’s lonely mind.

QUICK EXIT

From the kitchen came a very odd smell
Menu was in Thai so I couldn't tell
Pointed and asked what is that
The waiter said its grilled rat
Was outta there like a bat outta hell...

EYE EYE

Went out with some friends for beer and meat pies
Asked the waiter to make mine a surprise
Well I took a huge bite
And nearly died of fright
The filling was made of fish and cows eyes...

ALL YOU CAN EAT

Went to a cafe where all you can eat
Thought I'd go large and have me a nice treat
Carrots, meat and some leeks
Then I heard the squeaks
Saw the food move and went white as a sheet...

MEAL DEAL

Why do restaurants sell meals that are cheap
Thought I'd go in check one out take a peep
I didn't like what I saw
Food undercooked and quite raw
And lamb kebabs may not be from a sheep...

BURGER AND FRIES

For fries and burger I was in the mood
I went in but quickly went off my food
I'll tell you the reason why
The waiter's wore just a tie
And nothing else they were totally nude...

WHATS IN A STEW (DONT ASK)

In restaurants never order a stew
What they put in to it would make you spew
Scraps from the day before
Some scrapings off the floor
And some other bits you'll find hard to chew...

LOW LIGHTING

Low lighting creates an ambient mood
Lovers taken out to eat and be wooed
They don't want you to sue
And you would if you knew
How kitchen staff really prepared your food...

Premium Member If You Want To Be a River

Rush down from the hills and mountains
Maneuvering around untold hurdles
Negotiating paths of least resistance

Adorn your banks with trees in blossoms
Be the source of food and water
Float the kayaks and row the rowboats
Being a reveler for recreation

And through it all you must remember:

Sometimes shallow, sometimes deep
Sometimes wide, sometimes narrow
No matter the terrain, a river will always

Reach for its goal to merge with its ocean

Premium Member If You Preach it, Live it

Have you ever been told what you should believe?
Or, if the words of such a person are meant to deceive.
Do you know someone who uses his mouth to preach
but doesn't live by his words. They're a figment of speech.

I have been told that peace is that person's ultimate goal
But I'm not sold on his act if he's merely playing a role.
If he doesn't live by the same standards of his word,
his lips aren't conveying anything that should be heard.

Premium Member If You Only Knew

From your invalid's bed
You pined for the beach
Too far out of reach
For weakened feet to tread

He gathered devotion for the quest
And packed obligation
Atop expectation
For your smile's beauty to express

He strained beneath the boulder's stack
As frost bitten wind sliced his skin
And fingertips split where blood ran thin
When that frigid mountain fought back

Then he rode on deserts of fire
Under the sunburned moon
He bridled the dunes
For your hopeful eyes he aspired

At last, salty sea allowed his descent
To glitter of exotic shores
Lustrous shells from wave filled floors
Captured in jars, mighty ocean's scent

Here is a man who follows through
But all you saw in your hand
A dirty case of sand
If you only knew, you fickle fool.

If You Just Believe

~

Below the alabaster clouds,
and ever changing canvas skies
Along a stream of golden pearls,
encased in truths and wayward sighs

Of glowing share and moonlit cues,
where fate does fold on satin sheet
Beside the ripples carved in time
with effervescent moments sweet

Neath mountain tops of splendored joy
and valleys filled with summer days
To light the way of darkened shore
a path through oleander haze

Where sunsets play in twilight scenes
you’ll find amidst their crimson weave
A place where all your dreams come true
this evening if you just believe

~

If You Love Me

Give me a smile of morning glory
Pick me the stars and weave me a story.
