Best Evens Poems

Soft Shell Casing

Carcass evens out sand
Skin lands in your hands
Push past tainted smiles for better lands
Call me
When we reach the peak of boiling
and I've sweat out all my provisions
I'll answer
No need to memorize nonsense
in your numbers stead
I will always know your name
And it plays like the knocking of two outside a manger
There is nothing holy here
but lessons taught in down times
And so I practice dance for ballrooms I will never tread
You have never and will never see me
Call me
and I'll tell you how it's supposed to go
and you can teach her, them
It's too pretty outside to lose my mind
but you have it
Blow heat on kerosene and burn down your own monument
I'm tired

Smile

Have you ever noticed
How a smile's the perfect start
To brighten any stranger's day
Or to melt the coldest heart

It can even turn away anger
As things get out of hand
Or used to show confusion
When we don't quite understand

A smile can show compassion
To a child who's lost their way
Or comfort one who's lonely
To show them it's ok

It also shows affection
And tells them that you care
It evens tells someone you're shy
Or thank you when they share

So keep a smile within you
And hide it in your heart
For when it's time to change the world
You can do your part

Premium Member Spring is Coming Soon

Hugging my oak; vibrations of Spring,
tingling of potential and potent buds.

Robins and woodpeckers inspecting;
a hawk dives, evens out, sees life

on the ground; seeds twinging with
excitement, ready to break ground.

We are in the waiting room. Buzz of
monotone before the sun goes full throttle,

and dandelions and daffodils delight us.
Rose petal brushing on rouge and lipstick.

Ooh…ooh…ready to breathe in the snow
and cherry blossoms of tangible trees!

So, so ready to walk in the zeal of zephyr,
to whirl around the buzz of bees and chirps,

those lovely birds rejoicing with one another.
Put on your Easter bonnet! Why wait! Praise!

Premium Member A Kiss of Sunshine

The equinox in autumn evens out
the nights and days and makes them equal length.
I lie outside because I am devout,
but you, dear Sun, eventually lose strength.

I dream in winter of each afternoon
we meet in summer. . . passion at its peak,
and I can play as if I'm a cocoon
wrapped in your heat till night time makes you weak.

Oh, Sun, I need again for you to surge
for hours on end, so I can take you in
and at the close of day, I can emerge
your monarch, tinged with scarlet for our sin.

Spring comes, and with it comes the moment when
a kiss of sunshine I will feel again!

Yin Yang

Yin Yang

We make our own demons,
create our own gods.
Our lives, are a series,
of evens and odds.

In the ebb and flow of the rockiest tide,
Truth is a pearl, We all seek to hide.
Success, just failure turned on its head.
The path to victory, is littered with dread.

Desire and fear, the fraternal twin,
Thoughts control if you lose or you win!
A need, a plan, action and grace,
Shield you from all the arrows you’ll face.

You cannot win, without playing the game.
If nothing is changed, results are the same.
The life you make, is all in your mind,
To have tomorrow,leave yesterday behind.

Twos, Threes, and One Eyed Jacks

Twos, threes, and one-eyed jacks,
And jokers thrown in too,
These were the wild cards in our poker game,
May seem a lot to you....
But four of a kind to open,
Somewhat evens up the score,
And this was a time of fun,
And we did much, much more

This was our "Military Club"
An idea I did cook up,
To give reason to live,
For old men lost to desperate time
Who's life otherwise passed by them
Turned out an idea sublime

All got ranks in our club,
My uncles were Majors, you see
My father I made the Colonel
And poor old lowly me...
A mere Lieutenant
To drive the staff car around
This became so important to them
My idea had been more than sound

We loved our pool halls
Like most women love a shoe store,
And took turns at each others houses,
And what's even more

After pool we'd have some beers
In one of our watering holes,
And after poker later
A good meal would enrich our souls

Ah, to go one more time
Out with them,
Alas most are gone
And all I have is memories
To help me carry on.

Romance - Acrostic

Roamed over all plains,
Over seas, hills and
Mountains, but found not
A perfect soul mate.
No human is ideal.
Compromising with the odds,
Evens the journey of life and love.

BEING HUMAN

Brave she was and searched for light in blinding darkness
Encouraged by intense desire she illuminated odds and evens
Intuitively she knew how madness was insanely normal
Not straying from the path of love and kindness empathy she
Gallivanted meandered in everlasting human passion for the truth

Humble modest and embracing she cast comfort and compassion
Unsurpassed inquisitive kindness and belonging and she ventured
Manifold on many pathways star charts pedalled mutual attraction
At many crossroads halted listened reflected glistened followed heart’s emotion
Never ending moon spoons scooping longing souls embodied Universe

Bestowed upon with gravitation sense and sensual sensation he

Intertwined his wings her roots their flights of fancy grounded elevation

Unwound some endless loops of gloomy thoughts and doom and
Mastered majestic miracles of letting go releasing gathering complete
And unbelievably mosaic canvass stretching poetry in motion tapestry

And trusted in trusted holding hands and holding him and her and them and with
No other words expressing human being’s beauty than love and love and love

WINTER TIME GRIEF…

The long hot summer has disappeared over the horizon,
Yielding to the arrival of the cooling Fall.
Despite their approaching fate---the annual leaves’ excision,
the tower trees proudly stand firm and tall.

The steamy sticky sweaty nights have all gone
giving way to the cool ebony breeze;
horny crickets and frogs no longer sing their eerie mating song;
squirrels organize their cupboards in the hollows of the trees;
and mushrooms grow on the graves of the Fall’s fallen leaves.

In the early evens’ mist, sun of change ushered in the close of day
leaving flickering shadows hovering over time’s footprints.
Birds---angels of the sky, have spread their wings and flown away;
leaving behind empty nests to catch the winter’s coming events.

Strange, how nature’s circadian rhythms bring about change;
but in the winter season of humanity, so much remain the same.
Even in the winter cold, sable blood flows from the rape of justice:
No matter the season, the blind goddess remains a scheming mistress.

Who I Am Today

I got 2 memba who I once was, who I really am, what I really am, and who Im still yet TO BECOME. I got 2 memba where Im from 2 know how I got 2 where Im at 2 know where Im still GOING TO GO/ Despite bein a felon and convict and all the odds against me, I still got all the evens deep within me. Change is like a choice of contradicted concepts of my own convictions. My felonistic, forbidden, fatherless faith is not workin for me no more, actually it never did I just thought it did. I aint got 2 give it up or must give it up, or even have 2 give it up I first got 2 want 2 give it up. But I also must got 2 have 2 want 2 give it up within my own contradicted soul so that I may travel that road less traveled by my own people, not only where Im from but for all those trapped in this American inner racial mixed struggle where race and the color of YOUR SKIN DOES MATTER

A Prayer

This poem is a condensed version of my crown of sonnets

This style is called a compound English sonnet. it is written in couplets. The rhyme is
aabbaabbccddccddeeffeeffgggg. It can be read 3 ways.You can read straight through or just read every other line. if you read every other lineodd or evens you're reading a normal English sonnet.

Dear God I pray you keep our men from harm
When in your grace they're safe without alarm
Let not your eyes from you now go astray
help each to stay the course when skies are gray
It's in your strength they'll learn to now rearm
Now with your help each foe the will disarm
They'll change what others do along the way
With choices that they make this very day.

You know the things they want and what they need
For with Your help I know they will succeed
They never need to run from you or hide
In all they do you'll always be their guide
Each step they take in faith they'll not concede
When to your will we find each one will heed
Now each of them have put your will inside
Because they let your faith in you abide

I know they shall be blest in ever task
As now they keep your word in all you ask
Help each of them to stay within your pace
Then understand this life's a holy race
Now all our thoughts appear to you unmasked
When in your light their souls are made to bask
But you have given them abundant grace
In all they do in each and every place

It's in Your strength they'll surely pass life's test
When they abide in your eternal rest
Help each of them to do their very best
It's then that they'll achieve a valiant quest

One Case For Chaos

The roads are clean and straight;
Lawns with no weeds.
The wild is locked and fenced;
The trash is in your pocket.
People park within lines;
Never mind arbitrary confines.
The crazy man in the hermitage
Still dwells there in another age.
In this need for order and work,
There's its own madness;
Of evens, odds, and edges,
A life is measured in wages.

For the One I Know

For the One I Know

In the ray of the rising sky
Will I raise my voice to the Most High
To glorify His Gracious name
The one that is never the same
With anything or bear by lords or gods.
On kneel will I affirm that no gods
Like Him. He is pure, He is One
And will remain Holy One in town.
His mercy cut across Whole clan
He mold. His Glorious vein... and His 'can'
Makes Him the Ever-living Superior
Being. While all remain inferior
Of everything a nation or society
Can claim. He maintains unequivocal entity
In history, as far as minds know
And as far as ancestors flow;
No Wisdom will... or surpassed His
“Being” and “Being Not”, which is of His
Understanding, the why- no one overrules Him.
Signs… and knowledge is Him,
That no mission and vision mask His bowls:
The why His “Be” and “Be not” is beyond owls.

At the climax of the caressing heavens
Will I not retreat to bow, and will bring on His evens
To the navel, the sea, the fountain, the soil…
And by His Grace will I cease not but toil
And eat joyfully from my earnings;
To equally appreciate my bearings,
And confer respect and honor -the glue-
To whom, He stressed and concurred, is due…
For God, and only Him will I not stop being loyal…
And will I not complain… with little or no royal.

I pray at the verge of collapse:
An alternating moment of taps,
Should I not, get tired of exalting His names.
For He’s Ever-worthy of His names;
Deserving is He to be glorified -the loving good God;
And Worthy is He to me -the Almighty God.

Note:
Will I not: I will not
Should I not: I should not

Never Trust Strangers

She stammers, losing some words that her years cheat
while her sunken eyes gleam, beads in velvet sheet.

She stops gaping blankly as her brain tries journeying back,
to pick out bits from the remnants of history, in flashback.

Struggling against odds and evens she has sustained
visibly made stranger in her own land, looted and drained.

Strangers, she counts, came once to her doorstep
when full of zeal she was to live life to her own step.

They asked for her warmth and hospitality,
playing cunningly, a ploy to abuse her generosity.

A child of nature she grew among mountains;
queen of its abundance and its cool fountains.

For once she did not guess, those visitors from afar
held intentions vile to leave on her land, a deep scar.

Well fed and well entertained, they rose to conquer
lives of the lush green which could stand no longer.

Devoid of identity and glory, she danced to their tune;
To save her own, from Queen, she became buffoon.

Her people struggled but succumb to those strangers
who knew nothing but the rule of traitors!
