Notes About The Poem

A Kiss of Sunshine Premiere Contest Winner

The equinox in autumn evens out the nights and days and makes them equal length. I lie outside because I am devout, but you, dear Sun, eventually lose strength. I dream in winter of each afternoon we meet in summer. . . passion at its peak, and I can play as if I'm a cocoon wrapped in your heat till night time makes you weak. Oh, Sun, I need again for you to surge for hours on end, so I can take you in and at the close of day, I can emerge your monarch, tinged with scarlet for our sin. Spring comes, and with it comes the moment when a kiss of sunshine I will feel again!

this is a very good one from you, andrea, I think this passionate personification of the sun is really clever; I especially like that line "your monarch, tinged with scarlet for our sin"...I'm seeing so many great poems on this list, it's difficult to comprehend why they didn't place in the original contests! anyway, congrats to you! :)

Dear Andrea, YOU fooled me I was going to read "Crackers for Carrots" Then I saw "A Kiss of Sunshine" and Thought it was for the contest "A Soup member worthy of a Tribute" by Richard Lamoureux. I thought it was for Carol "Sunshine" Brown. Congrats on another Winning Circle stand in. I LOVE YOU ALWAYS and FOREVER YOUR Eternal Liege,,,Harry

I guess I didn't need an excuse to read this wonderful poem, but Jack Ellison is the Jack of my clerihew Jacks lol. I didn't notice that there were the exact poems with different names in the top hundred. I just happened to read some and they were a few lines and they weren't great Haikus, the weren't haikus or at, nor the other lol. This is a very wonderful poem in opposition to my theme soul of the night lol. Great Work.

A hymn to the sun. A famous Russian composer, Rimsky Korsakow wrote a hymn to the sun. Your incredibly wonderful poem reminds me so much of that darkly-sunny piece. Love, daver

Very creative work..Reads like winning material to me..Enjoyed reading ..Wonderful chemical changes happen within our brain and bodies when exposed to the sun..It makes us feel so good..I hope that your eve has been good..We did not know the extent of the abuse that she experienced until after the divorce __much later..She is still afraid that he'll come after us and her..Sara
