My mama said to get a man,
I first must prove myself a cook.
I could not feed him from a can.

I tried to learn how from a book
And sought to make a chocolate cake.
I didn't care how long it took.

I set the oven high to bake
Then sat to watch my favorite soap
And to plan the menu I would make.

The cake was burned without a hope.
It was a cheerless sight to see,
The smoke so thick I had to grope.

Since it seems a chef I'll never be,
I'll find a man to who cooks for me.

Grounded Wings (A Joint Effort With Wilma Neels)

Two birds sit in a tree... A colaboration from Wilma Neels &
Only separated by the sea.. Michael J. Falotico
They hum tunes that only they can hear...
The sun sets on one as the other see's it appear..
The wandering sounds of bliss..
Bring back memories to reminisce...
On days when they could spread their wings...
And experience all those amazing things...
When they would spread their wings and fly...
And time would just whisk by...
All they have left is memories...
And a lifetime of mysteries...

My Garden Dahlias

They make me wonder---
What fingers wove the tapestry of their being!
The splash of violet here, mauve there, white with red stripes—
They stand tall and do not bend till the wind forces them to.
Though soft, they manifest dignity.
When stress and depression shoot their thorns,
A glimpse of these beauties spell discipline.
‘We are of the earth and we belong to her.
She has given us beige, yellow, red and has waited
For us to grow, in effort and ecstasy.
When butterflies, birds and bees hum around
We greet them with glee. We fear not.
We bear the heat, the dust and the cold--
Even in pain, in disdain, we find the sun.’
In their company, I find freedom. And
In their being, my soul.

Premium Member Andalusian Patios

Flowered patios,
admired for their charm,
Andalusian patios lovingly cared for.
As new-born babies
that Andalusian women take care of
with gentleness, dedicating
their time with the same devotion
to as a baby who needs attention.

Beauty with big eyes
that shines in a blind world
to old emotions.
Patios of my Andalusia,
you sow joy in front of
the ones who feel love
for those old ladies,
whose lives flow among your cares.

I wish you would always live
Andalusian ladies!,
so that our eyes
could delight those magical patios,
full of colors and dedication.
Every flower has your name
written on it, every new wrinkle
on your face is the effort
of your everyday's passion.

Premium Member Come One and All

Come one and all to our symposia
Grab a press release
It’s on world peace
And how to make this a better world

Bring your ideas
We’ll have a sizzling brainstorming
Starting in the wee hours of the morning
We’re counting on you

Circle the date on your calendars
We can all make a difference
And put an end to indifference
See you there to show you care

A Didactic Effort To Mail a Letter

Buy ink which remains indelible on the soul
Lick your stamps as they should never lick themselves
Keep envelopes open to suggestions and to be stretched
Hide them in a dry place or pine desk out of trouble
Hold pens gently into the wind or corresponding weather
Leave an impression on the world as you write
Use an eraser but only after midnight

Employ an umbrella over your story
Deploy it in the rain if you compose
Protect your notes while rushing to the mail post
Kill trees only when necessary
Pray they don’t take revenge

Keep rain in buckets one drop at a time
Keep sanity at bay and asteroids at large
Stamp high as bays get wet in rising tides

Write letters with pens untouched by men
Utilize paper snow white and pretty

Mail correspondences twice if suspicious
Use two stamps because you can
Deliver yourself from evil
Let postmen know you are on to them
Send one letter at a time as mail is heavy
Give it time because time is burdensome
Let letters drop while servers do the rest
Wait for a response but don’t hold your breath

Premium Member Fear Not

your fear is tangible
cancer has caught up with you
vulnerability has overtaken you
I see you yearn for a warm embrace

it’s obvious to me
you're the hurt little boy back when
you cried yourself to sleep
why me? why me?

you’d since been charmed
but worry now
your luck might
soon run out

far from ready to opt
out of the game of life
you throw the dice and
give it all you’ve got

Premium Member A Little Yeast Will Do

A little fertiliser
And the flower will bloom
A little catalyst
And the chemical reaction will complete
A little yeast
And the cake will grow
And so man
Please remember
A little more effort and confidence
Will do
In your enterprise

Midgeted paws gently experiment
with the silken whiskers of their maternal dynamo

Dabbling with the conscious but succumbing
softly to the confetti of uninhibited dreams

Rejoicing in a triangle of togetherness
Basking in the periwinkles of space and time

Under a backdrop of light and optimism
Enjoying the nuances of peace and temperance

Their unified thoughts epitomize one harmony
Each sending a message, don't ever leave me.

Economy of Effort

Seeking makes absent...

Observe inner desire...

Allow them arrival...

Community Effort

Community effort
We need not wait on them
To change the world for us
Too long we stand with laments
By the way is like that
Drop of water that make a mighty ocean

Community effort
We create more problem by
Ourselves
If we the people fall to unite each other
A truthful friendly relationship
Among us
Can make the world better

Community effort
We the people occupy most part
Of the space of the land
Not them the gangs
They are just few
So with in our selves
Lies the solution we
Sick
As community effort
Is a way
a fast way
To peace and unity
I rest my case

Message In a Bottle Free Verse Effort

The end of the world is foretold to arrive any time soon so I am leaving a message in this bottle for anybody with advice on how to survive if this should happen again.
In the Bible it does state that the Earth will go on for eternity, so it must be something that will be at his hand that removes us from his creation.
The bottle you have now opened contains my favourite wine and I hope it is still drinkable. There is a warning though and some advice you may like to follow.

Red wine, they say, is good for the heart, but then they changed their minds and tell us is will kill us. So stick to white wine so instead

Eat plenty of fibre it’s good for you; you do not want to be stuck on the loo when the end arrives.

Eat five portions of fruit and vegetables a day; you want to be healthy at the end of the world.

If you see a large mushroom formation in the clouds, duck and cover, they told us they had disarmed all nuclear devices but I think they tell lies.

Find out who THEY are, we never did.

Don’t burn the candle at both ends; you want to look your best at the end.

When you wake up and find you have gotten old and it sneaked up on you and all the aches and pains that come with it, go out and welcome the end of the world.

As you have found this bottle I have to presume you have to start a new race just remember life can be a b***h so don’t marry one as well.

You will never find the missing link, so don’t look, accept it that some people really did fall off the ugly tree.

Never go to sleep angry at the person you are with, make sure you swap them regularly.

Remember it is not the Stork that brings the children, it is the lark in the night, buy a bird scarer.

That is all the advice I can give for now I need to get my nails and hair done in case it happens now. I want look my best, so go forth and multiply.

Make Effort

make
effort
overcome
life’s challenges
bend a little, pick out thorns from your way

Complaining is easy but not a solve
shirk the habit
stop the sulk
abhor
blame

God
does not
like rudeness
ungratefulness
He is known to help those who help themselves

Premium Member Vain Effort

I close
my eyes to fend
off all sad scenes from sight
but my mind is not always shut
it lets the biting ants of pain come in
crawling through every narrow slit
tormenting me endless
in fear, my eyes
I close
