Fear Not

your fear is tangible
cancer has caught up with you
vulnerability has overtaken you
I see you yearn for a warm embrace

it’s obvious to me
you're the hurt little boy back when
you cried yourself to sleep
why me? why me?

you’d since been charmed
but worry now
your luck might
soon run out

far from ready to opt
out of the game of life
you throw the dice and
give it all you’ve got

Heartfelt and heart-rendering, my friend. You are in the line of fire, no pun intended. Prayers sent.

I had a day like that, once. Coincidentally it was today. And a few yesterdays for good measure. That's why I look to tomorrow.
