Premium Member An Ebony Tether
A setting Sun singes the edge of Earth,
stillness swiftly spreading over the ground.
And its receding rays give shadows girth,
swallowing the last lingering light found.

As Twilight fades, darkness begins to creep;
loosely leashed to an ebony tether.
And from the undergrowth, there's not a peep,
where Dusk gathers stray...

Lost amongst a trillion stars.
In lustrous shades of Ebony and Ivory.
We are like the moon craving for night fall,
so our twin embers can ignite dark skies.
Under the modesty of moonlight,
desire illuminates in our eyes.
We spark like supernovas in empyrean explosions,
waltzing around the planets in a...

Feeling smug about its certainty,
Night anticipates the Day's demise.
And as scattered shades of gray gather;
blue finds sanctuary in your eyes.

As twilight creates a stained-glass sky,
a scarlet sun reluctantly sinks.
And night dilutes the essence of light,
scribbling silhouettes in blackened inks.

Vermilion colors the horizon
as flashing fireflies light...

two feathers, each four inches long -
bought *for a song -
comprise a pair
of rings I wear

rings for my ears, not for my hands,
with silver strands
of beads entwine
my plumes divine!

the dark hue of the feathers goes
with many clothes
and flatters me
in ebony

OF AN EBONY HUED MID-SUMMER NIGHT DREAM
(Apropos of We Kings, Queens, and The Fiery Furnace)

Indeed, this is a day the Lord has made:-
Considering last night’s revelation dreaming,
Waking up into this day the Lord has made,
I must enjoy and be glad for being still vertical.

Although “The...

On Ebony Sails
Oh what a tangled web we weave,
ever haunting in devious wombs...
tattered voyagers embarking to the confine,
and by nightfall, swarthy leather pants
whip and crack like the white flag
blowing and tearing in a cold snap.

On ebony sails the ravens are perched,
pecking at threads that dangle
from dusky cloths...

As denied passion in memories stings
while yearnings churn up a still crazy heart,
Stains of hatred on purest mind it brings,
for life, subtle soul remains deeply scarred,
Vivid thoughts twinkle and then drift apart.

No stopping to tears that flow in despair,
Condemned be time, engulfing all the...

Go ahead, try to separate the races.
You politicians have egg, on your malicious faces.

Not realizing in your frozen hearts.
You toss imperfect, very hopeless darts.

Neither money nor educatiion
Can separate friends of the American nation.

Equity for Blacks only, you shout from your parapets.
ThatWill never separate us, not...

"To lay awake and watch the galaxy slowly move, memories stored unlocked, a touch of existence." Quote by poet

An endless ebony garden of stars,
Galaxy humming wonder earthly ours.
Ancient significant source of power,
A warm celestial kept in earthen jars.
To stand in gesture wavering flower.
Tall scattered...

Fallen Angel- Ebony Tears
Heather cries ebony tears from her eyes,
her veiled disguise is lifted from those lies-
the lightning strikes,
her insanity spikes,
death prevails no matter how hard she tries.

one crimson rose held tightly with grace,
her lover’s embrace has left without a trace-
bloodstained hands,
no man...

As the sun filled the saffron skies with light,
Ebony and Ivory sparkled bright,
celebrating love beyond skin and name;
they knew not society's evil game,
sipping tea from a cup of compassion,
dressed in empathy and primrose passion.
They seized...

Gentle ripples of clear water trace the banks
Where there are stones washed perfectly smooth
By the silent waves caressing their sleek veneer
And whispering echoes of tenderest serenity
Through the air that is so very fresh and clean

Bright, hot embers burn inside the circle
Where coals have turned the...
