Premium Member Changes are Encouraging

Woe to the hands of time
Woe, how quickly it changes
Changes with so much haste
Changes without stop
Stop wrong ideas
Stop feelings of hate
Hate is wasted emotion
Hate causes wounds
Wounds that remain
Wounds need to heal
Heal with kindness
Heal with belief
Belief in my words
Belief that I pursue
Pursue without facade
Pursue to diffuse
Diffuse the animosity
Diffuse misconstrued thoughts
Thoughts wrongly assumed
Thoughts mistaken
Mistaken by a few
Mistaken by clueless pens
Pens should not be swords
Pens should write words
Words of good faith
Words that put an end
End to all the suspicion
End to negativity
Negativity breeds gloom
Negativity does no good
Good vibes bring positivity
Good intentions for a new start
Start by writing poems
Start seeing things as trivial
Trivial to our lives
Trivial, believe it or not
Not suggesting brotherhood
Not turning away from harmony
Harmony on some level
Harmony to act like adults
Adults who don't slander
Adults who can coexist
Coexist as pacifists
Coexist as poets
Poets in a community
Poets should be encouraging
Encouraging with their comments
Encouraging and supportive
Supportive…

            ______________________________________________

Twilight swallowed me, striking me speechless
With subtle caress of a wicked breeze
Stirring the surge, I drift inwardly
And wild geese soar home in the sky.

Floating at a low level on a long, rolling skein.
      Their banter ruined their afternoon
Friends unified on a familiar trip.
I've seen them ride on the oceans.
Pulling back the waves' white locks.

In the quiet, glassy sea, my skiff barely ripples.
      Lavender clouds and double geese.
      Random ideas diffuse as waves.
But my ideas act as stars in the sky
Bringing delight with a single chuckle.

Happiness simply cannot be accounted for.
Also, it seems as a wayward child.
Even amid the thrills, sadness arises.
Akin to one drop of rain on quiet waters.
Spread ripples will erase dazzling rays.
With a single echoed plink of its sad note.

Is it worth staying with the wispy Hope scarf?
      Then laid across my shoulders?
The light tilts on other days.
That warms the day as a lover's kiss.
And I anchor at home in delightful calm.

Premium Member My Mom

My mother was your average country mom
She wasn't gorgeous. Some might call her "plain"
But had the patience to diffuse a bomb
Her eyes grew narrow, when I caused her pain

She never raised her voice nor slapped my face
Still taught me right from wrong and not to lie
Made sure I bowed my head when dad said grace
Encouraged me to find new things to try

And even though she worked, twas not for greed
She took great pleasure from the "simple things"
She told me, "Faith in God," was all one needs
That real love doesn't come with any strings

My mother was as gentle as a dove
My prayer this Mother's Day, she knows she's loved

Premium Member YOU CANt ESCAPE THE WEATHER

With accompaniment of rain, the tweets pour into my ear.
Saturation of sound, mottled bark and sodden moss.
Must be the downfall of civilization, heavens tears.
In God’s house, psalm’s blessing; outside, purging the dross.

Hues of watercolor diffuse, darkness rippling on wet canvas.
There is beauty in mankind, to read between lines of tension.
Push and pull of dripping thoughts, the undertow madness.
A leviathan of sin’s proportions, the levity and dimension.

You can’t escape the weather, its steady beat above the brow.
The sweat beads seeping, harrowing adventures of sound.
Inspecting inside and outside of self - what seeds to sow.
Don’t be too hard on yourself, though you nearly drowned.

Floating alone in a boat, the sea takes me on a journey.
It is dark and lonely, the slip and slide, the ebb and flow.
Comes walking on the water; appears, heaven’s attorney.
Suddenly I’m on dry land, head bowed, to my knees, I go.

Christ reigns. The closer we are to his gates, we long to serve
Him only, yet we still stomp in muddy puddles with bare feet.
We can hide our feet in socks, in rain boots, hide their curves.
The Lord washes feet, cleanses with His Word ‘til we’re complete.

Humanity

Translation:

Humanity

And so here I am
and here I see myself in white,
my skin -a midnight snowfall
where no one can stain me
with their footprints, their black footprints.
And so here I am alone.
The dawn sings to me uninhibited,
she sings of the kisses of the sun in the morning,
of the soft swaying of the stars,
their dances, their fiery weddings.
And so she sings to me in a still, small whisper,
with it she leaves me breathless,
the weight of the secrets of ages
fills up my mouth with ashes
that taste like the grave.

My tongue has become
the voice of the ancients.
And I am alone
but I don't feel alone.
Their fingers diffuse,
spreading out across my eyelids,
the dead resurrect like the sun
in my eyes.

And their wisdom in my face is a tombstone;
in my body, an Easter Sunday.

They fold in the wrinkles of a beggar woman.
They flow like tears from the open mouth of the sky.
They are sparks in the memory of children.
They hold together the stones of the Pyramids
and fill the cracks in the bones of the mountains.

And in truth our feet
begin to decompose,
to unite with the roots of the world.
And in truth we are alone
but we don't feel alone.

We carry knowledge in ivory,
mystery, forgotten nostalgia.
In our veins runs the blood
of warriors,
in our lungs
the words
of God.

Premium Member To the Stars

In periwinkle evening hues
I see the shining planets glow.
With pearl moon bright, the sky's diffuse,
the light and dark will ebb and flow.

Eternal heaven overhead
my spirit soars between the stars.
Past Jupiter my heart has fled
round Pluto past the dark quasars.

I need the Venus in your heart
and offer you my longing Mars.
I'll be your caring counterpart
the double in your double stars,

as shooting stars, in your eyes, play
and in your smile, the Milky Way.

Blessed Are the Peacemakers

Blessed are the peacemakers
A great source of joy in life
They are a great blessing
Amidst life’s battles and strife.

We have one such amongst us
Who is quite capable
To diffuse any situation
To bring peace he’s able.

He knows how to calm the rage
When anger is raging high
He brings peace and calm
When the sparks seem to fly.

His mind is all at peace
When others see red
He restores normalcy
When sanity hangs by a thread.

He devotes his life to prayer
We hold him in great admiration
The world he makes a better place
He is truly an inspiration.

Dedicated to Bro. Stanley Cherian, our friendly and esteemed neighbour

Premium Member Trick-Or-Treating

The sweet-sour scent of waning hay
drifts to town from nearby fields,
pleasing all walkers with an edgy peace.

While autumn gusts enliven shadows,
the wavering moon turns sheets to ghosts,
and disguises reveal diverse fancies.

The mind evokes bewitching specters
cavorting like bats on their nightly hunts,
quickening the pace of parent and child.

Spooky music beckons from porches,
conjuring up faux frights and terrors,
as diffuse mysteries tug at innocence.

In noble deed stands tall like a sequoia
Though lame fought beside Jackson no defeat

Success in battle 'pon warrior's horse
Winner in defeating illiteracy

After ten years effort deliberate

When his enlightment brought light, joy flowed
Then the Cherokee printing press spread news
Knowledge spread and troubled brewed discord sowed
The beginning of the "Trail Of Tears" diffuse

Battled to make his tribe superior

'Theatre Of The Absurd'
Catoptric Corridors of Time

Oh how the wounded waverly wander away from their hermitic heart
Only to meticulously maunder thru cumulous clouds that diffuse apart
The deflections of deceptions that build worshipful walls
Seen in Mirrors of errors displaying fathomable fetal falls

The soliciting silences succumbing to their cognitive cocoon
Inducing illusions forthcoming mirage’s of the monolithic moon
Dimensional decoding within the resurgent rhythmical rhyme
Catalectic exploding compositions in the Catoptric Corridors of Time.

Desert Rose

Pale crimson skies
Stretched beyond repair.
Clouds as scarce as life
Above the desert’s lair.

Upon the sarcous traces
Of the dusty morsels,
Rain from a wispy heart
Like drunken yodels.

From the parched sands,
Palatable scents diffuse.
It approaches, it taunts
The flesh cannot refuse.

The dead wind in its lullaby
Whispers vigorously to give in
The parched eagle shrieks
The rose is bloody from sin.

Remember the thorny cacti
Scorched by the wrath
Defence is no defense
Pain lies on that path.

The giver of verve
Gives not but mercy.
Famine fuels the force
The desert is testy.

The tunnels beneath the sand
Lead to worlds unknown
The edifice in the distance
Could it be a tombstone?

Cloud- a Song In Hindi With Song Lines In English

An instant Hindi Song with its English Version for Poetry Soup friends.

Hindi Lines in Roman English

"yoon to roj, baadal
bahut se aate hain
kabhee ud kar ye
kabhee yu heen chale jaate hain
kabhee barasate hain
saghan megh ban, kar ye
kabhee rang aur khusaboo se,
bikhar jaate hain.
Simate hote hain, inamen
teree bheenee see khusaboo ke
suhaane jhonke bhee
jo havaon ko bhee,
is fiza kee
mahaka jaate hain
par aate hain jab bhee
ye suhaane baadal
meree aankhon ko
nam karake jaate hain."

Song Lines in English

Every day, these clouds come and
They come in abundance,
Sometimes, they come flying and
they just go away,
Sometimes these clouds come
to shower their heavy rains,
But sometimes they spread only
Their fragrance and colours.

These clouds also contains
The gushes of your sweet pleasing fragrance,
Which diffuse the entire atmosphere
By the beauty of that mild aroma,
Which hangs everywhere.

Whenever
These beautiful clouds come
They fill my eyes
With some tears also.

He said it was the booze
That caused him to abuse
And leave her with a bruise.
The judge said, " I don't excuse.

I simply must refuse
Your efforts to diffuse.
Your answers don't amuse.
It's just your lawyer's ruse.

You have too short a fuse
And I've had time to peruse
The reasons that she sues.
My answer is ..You lose!

Take the laces from his shoes
And lock him up in the calaboose."

Premium Member Seashore In Lapis Lazuli

Crepuscular is waning afternoon,
in lapis lazuli does day respire.
The seashore chimes its solitary rune
as tentative the lapping waves acquire
the briny echo of a mermaid's lyre.
Though timidly does surf caress the beach
in mirrored shades of night as they conspire,
brave wisps of comets in the untold reach
of space diffuse and pluck my heart into the breach.

Premium Member Loss of Innocence

Fragrant flower, Jasmine infused,

the evening breathes comic book laughter,

colors white and green and yellow.

Our heroes, our saviors in bold of

twilight blue and mud red ocher.

Perfume fingers stretch forth on evening breeze

searching for that champion

only to find, beneath primary hues,

a miriad of diffuse pastel hides

beneath balloon exclamations,

our vain attempt to save us from ourselves.
