Best Croutons Poems
I invited a dragon to dinner
(That was almost the wrong thing to do!)
Have you ever seen what a dragon
can do to a bowl of beef stew?
The carrots were shrunken and shriveled.
The celery- quite a sad sight,
yet the dragon seemed rather delighted
as he gobbled up every last bite!
The salad was quite a disaster
with the croutons burnt to a crisp
and the lettuce was beyond recognition
and wilted into a green wisp!
Still that dragon ate every last morsel
and was pleased as a dragon could be!
Cause he roared and belched rather loudly,
but politely exclaimed, “Pardon Me!”
Next I passed the desert to the dragon
as we giggled and talked for a spell.
Then the dragon thanked me profusely
and uttered a steamy farewell.
He taught me to laugh at my worries,
enjoy life with good company,
so tomorrow he’s coming for breakfast
and frying the bacon for me!
Chubs is gravely flat.
We remove our hats.
Her wheel deflated him—
Chubs, my cuddly cat.
Flounder is lying flat,
ambling on his back.
Her croutons choked him—
Flounder, my friendly catfish.
Gopher is resting back-flat,
striking position for naps.
Her diabolical chocolate gateau
snuffed him out almost.
Gopher rose once again,
my mangy mutt, back-to-life.
Ma decried; she'd die
in a reindeer stampede
Spring is a colorful salad
Roses are her radishes
Marigold her croutons
Lilacs in her dressing, dribbling sweetly
She is tossed in wind storms
Spring is a tasty salad
She uplifts the diners
She delights the songbirds
She nurtures the baby lambs
She brings greenery back to the meadow
Spring is a hearty salad
She feeds our souls
She nurtures our imaginations
She sings her forest songs
She rejuvenates us in the most heart-felt ways
Spring is our dessert salad
Her birds serenade us
Her bunnies show off their fluff
Her squirrels scold us gently
She brings us such enthusiasm and happiness!

I should eat healthy, I really should! But life is too short for that. Food, food, food,
it chases away the blues, it brings comfort to the soul. So here is a list of the foods
that I L.O.V.E. and that make me happy. You will note a theme of cheese and
dripping butter (and chocolate) . . .
a chocolate bar, anytime
bananas, green, not ripe
crackers and cheese, as a snack
drenched in blue cheese, salads and homemade croutons
even, tortilla chips and chunky salsa
French fries from a chip wagon (on my way home from the gym)
grandma's recipe for beef stew with loads of vegetables and a rich gravy
hamburgers and hotdogs off the barbeque with all the fixings
ice-cream, chocolate of course
just out of the oven, french bread
keep the donuts and coffee coming
loads of meatballs, made from mom's recipe (in a sweet tangy sauce)
macaroni made with three kinds of cheese
nothing better, than spaghetti with meat sauce and parmesan cheese
onion soup, french canadian style, dripping with cheese
pizza, deluxe (peanut butter on toast before bed)
quick take out of chicken wings with hot sauce
really, really old cheddar cheese
steaming cobs of corn, dripping with butter and salt
tomato, bacon, and lettuce sandwich
until I say stop, chocolate
vegetables fresh for a farmers market
what is wrong with me, this is all so unhealthy
x-tra, of everything, please
yogurt with strawberries on the bottom
zesty dill pickles, aged one year

Her list includes croutons and jelly and jam,
as I read down, I see knockwurst and ham.
Bananas and tuna, pick up Borax and Bold,
if there's no Zest, then get Palmolive Gold.
Orange juice and lemons, Pepsi and Sprite,
ice cream and cookies for our guests tonight.
I arrive on line nine with it all and croutons.
It rings up, I reach in..I forgot the coupons.
A patient came out of the patient's room
Into the doctor's office lobby zoom
A brown paper bag
Held in his hand sag
Declared, "I'll share my lunch" with loud boom
My husband with humorous thought said
They go good with salad and no bread
The patient then spoke
Croutons atop bloke
Laughter and twinkle between unsaid
At least he had a sense of humor..
When they weighted me I came
back out and told my husband
I just found out that I am way too
short..
High noon sun would soon turn
Her petite, ruddy face into one freckle
She rubbed the juice from a fresh lime
Across her brow so the bangs might bleach
The white sand brushed the strand
and aquamarine surf that cut a split on the Caye
reflected mint green off the lens of her Wayfarers
Almost lathered in coconut oil
Her cutis emitted the scent of sandalwood
And warm mackeroons
Her smile hinted of a sweet, pitted apricot
Its puckered core with eyes closed
Waiting for that first kiss
That would never come
I met her in the morning last week
On the corner of happy and chirpy
The day she tossed her cookies in the street
And swore off cashew wine and meat pie
Her tummy hadn’t been the same since;
The because of a picnic basket brimming
With plain yogurt and sourdough sticky buns
“Look at that phosphorescent fish” she exclaimed
Spurting seawater that had backed up
in the snorkel tube into my eyes, her mask
catawampus across her cheeks
“I think you mean fluorescent” retorted I
“it is all the same” she beamed
And smacked her face back into the water
I couldn’t help but chuckle
And dove down so she would not notice
Shadows off the palm leaves told me
It was time to head back to the water taxi
With what remained of her chartreuse
Lipstick, she now resembled a fried crustacean
It made me hungry and I longed for croutons
She either talked or sang something like
A muzzled version of Del Shannon’s “Down in the Boondocks”
The entire trip
When we docked her now blond locks
Sheared her rostrum and her
White teeth winked at me
Oh my …. Shall I say goodbye?
Welcome to the market place of the best in all mankind
buy paintings of imaginings with brushstrokes of the mind.
Words of vivd colour, tapestries of rhyme are shown,
your ears filled with the consonant sound of verses being sewn.
Watch as pots of raw emotion, mixed before your eyes
intelligently kneaded, put aside and left to rise.
Heated with strong passion piping hot straight from the bowl
with floating alphabet croutons to fill your hungry soul.
The Haiku makes a three course meal
and Senryus as well,
Acrostics you'll find satisfying, only for a short spell.
These artisans a hearty bunch, the kind you can rely on,
their aprons used to dry your tears, and
shoulders you can cry on.
The clanging from the wordsmith's forge, as new verses are pressed,
fragrant couplets blossoming, the nectar of the blessed.
A vibrant buzz in alleyways and shadowy secret places,
a warm and friendly welcome to the boatloads of new faces.
No haggling and waving hands, negotiating price,
from ABC to Villanelle it's all free (which is nice).
No chance of meeting Cobras here, so please don't be alarmed,
it's just the meter, rhythm and rhyme that leave customers charmed.
Enjoy yourself, feel free to roam, we're open every day,
there's space here for a stall for you, like us-
you're bound to stay x
He’s just your average lazy bum —
a sweet, lovable loser
Who loves to stick his index finger
high in the air,
and tell you he’s number one
When in fact, technically,
his favorite sports team is
It’s success by association,
as he moons the neighborhood kids
Because he don’t have much else going on in his life,
in the way of personal achievements
Lost a good job,
lost his good wife
Even his best friend ran away twice
Doggone it!
But rest assured, he loves living
the surf bum life
He’s just your regular couch potato,
a sour grapes eating man-bear
Giving out high-five grunts
when he snore
Highlight reel dreams of when his team
made the game-winning score
As a matter of fact, technically,
the refs blew the call ...
his team never shoulda had the ball
He once entertained big dreams,
as a two-sport high school stud
Now, he’s a balding barrel of trash talk,
his star flamed out ... now his fizzled life is a dud
It crash landed with a thud
He blames everybody but himself,
as he cracks open another Bud
Flagstaff Flash is just your average lazy bum,
sweeping the carpet on his chest
for any broken taco shells or salad croutons
Relaxing all day in his Laz-e-Boy,
got his beefy hand on the five-position lever
Life ain’t never been so carefree good ...
he’s winning again,
as his fantasy team is doing better than ever
Let's do dinner tonight at the Covid 19, the hottest new restaurant in town.
We won't need a face mask, we'll sit with a crowd and dine on Pandemic Stew.
We'll start with a creamy White Supremacist Broth served with Storm Trooper
Croutons
And then there's a cocktail of rare Racial Strife heaped up on a bed of Brutality Ice.
For dessert, there's an End of Democracy Cake infused with Suppressions to Vote,
From the bar we can order a Vodka con Putin dumped into a large Diet Coke.
There's no entertainment, the band has left town but there's reruns of Trump Photo Ops.
There's a two for one special that's running this week, no need for cash on The Spot
'Cause the sign on the door makes it perfectly clear, "Your Soul of America card Welcomed here".
Shall we go there tonight to the Covid 19 and dine on Pandemic Stew
And not wear a face mask and sit with a crowd?
Depends on what life means to you - it's to die for!!
Previous training
Had me mopping
Croutons in the foreground.
I'd always been
Under or back
And loaded with brushes.
Now my "project-defined"
Had purposely left
My "effects-bank"
With no filename.
Since I to
Had nine options
I selected them all.
It gave me the jiffies
In no time at all.
The series selected
Underscored what was
A housed initial setup.
Mirroring errors
Raised my buttons.
So I reverted for
Your convenience
To edit mode
And performed timed
And highlighted
Entries of change.

Don't need a fork, just my first finger and thumb
And when it's good, yum, I'm done
Pour it op

Greed of carrots ridden rabbits
Pour it on

SALAD DRESSING

No! I Am Not Lying To You
No! I am not lying to you.
It seems Life’s turnings here and now contain
Inauspicious shapes of endless goings and comings;
It seems Life’s headwaters of the deep waxed well,
the great steward river, of cold sinew and intractability is
rushing backward through bloody tubes and rusty spires.
It seems Life’s dead people have arisen, unbeknownst
to the living, from astonished graves in gaping graveyards.
No! I am not lying to you.
There was a time indeed when a human person like me,
could calmly sit across from a human person like you,
and the both of us could pleasurably redeem the consuming time with
eyeful silences and poised stares containing muted determinations;
something like destiny showing up and knocking on the door,
saying: “your pizza is here,” and you open the door wearing only
stupid shades while reading with an ivory looking glass.
No! I am not lying to you.
There was a time when life was peacefully secure and placid,
back when the pleased and complacent skies seemed bluer,
safer than today’s chemical shroud impregnated by ejaculating jets,
35 thousand feet above the mad wasteland of spiritual coma;
The pulling dying aimless road to wherever your body is traveling to,
Is now a long coursing road paved with the fallow stones of fear.
These bloody sunsets have a raspy roar heard only in the death pits,
The final hors d'oeuvres served with croutons and screaming dramas;
There is now no turning down the forgotten deserted side streets,
hidden by shady oleander trees wearing bonnets of poisonous fire.
No! I am not lying to you.
Scene
An old bakery with traditional baked food on display.
Husband(H) and wife (W) and the baker (B) at the store!
The Wife and Baker are in love unknown to the husband!
A conversation bordering on a potential affair!
W: Every time I pass by, I am dragged in to your store,
What I see here makes me want it, want it even more,
B: I am craftsman young madam beyond compare
all your daily needs I shall serve you well with care!
W: The gentle breeze that rustles your new curtains,
make my juices flow with aroma of your croutons.
B: Silken smooth they are and so soft to touch,
my special rod will hold them, thank you very much!
W: I see your lovely buns are so firm, so strong,
I would love to hold them, hold them long!
B: I would be delighted madam if you would,
I have a hot oven that will service you good!!
W: I licked your bourbons and they tasted so yummy,
What you gave me is still growing in my tummy!!
B: Well you have not yet pleasured them all
If you ever need them just give me a call!!
W: I see how well you would knead with those hands,
I have some parts that require similar demands,
B : I am at your disposal whatever your needs,
I have more to offer than bakery list reads!
W: I look forward to some more sausage from you,
Make sure they are long so I can pay my due!
B: You can bet they will be as you dearly love,
I wish I could give it to you, here and now!
W : Oh, Wait till day break when his office opens,
just bring your stuff to my door! see what happens!
B : Here is a free sandwich, sir, for work tomorrow,
to be happy in life, we need to share or borrow!
H:- Thanks for the sandwich!! you are so kind!
Epilogue: Life is like that, If you don’t mind!
