I Do Not Love You Like the Crescent Moon

I do not love you like the crescent moon
majestically erupting into a star filled night
nor do I love you like the pearl painted swan
gliding effortlessly across a pristine pond

Fear not for I do most certainly love you -

But my love is more like a cool crisp apple
one succulent bite bringing sustenance to life
My love lives in our fresh laundered linens
dried in the comforting winds blowing off the sea

My love is here
My love is now
It is in everything I touch
It is in everything I Do

I may not love you like the luster melting hearts
glistening off a ten carat diamond ring
but you can be sure my love lives daily
in my every breath and my every dream

If the Crescent Moon

~

If the
crescent
moon smiles
on you

then know
that
I am smiling
too

and if per
chance
it’s gone
from view

then I will
send
my smile
to you

A Crescent Moon Smiles This Day

.

There like the bloom of a mystical flower,
a crescent moon smiles this day
Before the sun comes to offer good morning,
bright its illumined display

While here I stand gazing north towards the heavens,
dreaming of days yet to be
Watching the glow on an autumn horizon,
I feel it grinning at me

Picturing moments of enchanted splendor,
beautiful scenes float my eyes
Seeking a sign as the dawn now awakens,
upon these slumbering skies

When in a whisper this moon sends a message,
softly it says from above
“Here in this smile my crescent is showing,
know she is sending her love”

This is the first poem I posted on soup. I am not new to the site but find I learn something new every time I stop in to read. I actually like this poem because the moon is always an inspiration to me. As well, the wonderful poets I have met on this site always inspire me to be better.

Moonrise and showers
Enshrine flowers
A stroll along the shoreline

Starlight and halos
Eternal cosmos
The awakening angel

Lullabies and shadows
Mystifies meadows
The calypso personifies

Coral and fireflies
Rainbow skies
The radiant circle aglow

Butterflies and ladybugs
Intertwine jitterbugs
The dance along the skyline

Premium Member On Halloween, Beneath a Crescent Moon

On Halloween, beneath a crescent moon,
a dark-haired man, pale-faced, I chanced to see.
He danced with grace and beauty to each tune
the band was playing. Would he dance with me?

At last he asked me, “May I dance with you?”
On Halloween, beneath a crescent moon,
his breath was on my cheek. My passion grew.
Within his arms, I thought that I would swoon.

How beautiful he was! But all too soon
he left me, saying he would wait for me
on Halloween beneath a crescent moon,
beyond some trees in shadows he pointed to.

His first name, all I knew of him, was Sloan.
But past the trees I heard his sweet voice croon.
It led me where his name shone on a gravestone
on Halloween, beneath a crescent moon.

The Lullaby of the Crescent Moon

The crescent moon that dances ‘cross the sky
is shining softly through my window pane,
and smiling gently from his perch on high
while humming tender notes of love’s refrain.

The magic of this bright celestial orb
is tempting passions of this mortal man,
but thoughts of her are harder to absorb
while longing tender touches of her hand.

Alone I’m sitting in my rocking chair
as darkness fills the corners of my mind;
I’m lost in tender thoughts of one so fair,
and reaching for the dreams I long to find.

I wonder if she’s gazing at this moon,
and if she too can hear his tender tune.

Crescent Moon

I
                                             am half
                                    of you,
                             forever not
                          really me
                      Although, I
                  shine on into
               the night, I am
              not as bright
             without you. We
             are bond together,
             forever with this
              black canvas that
                enlightens it with
                 a mass of flickering
                    stars. We work
                        as one. O, I
                             hate nights
                                  when it’s just
                                             half of me
                                                     without
                                                               you

Premium Member House of the Crescent Moon

There is a house in my backyard
they call the 'Crescent Moon'.
I visit more than I would like
but, then no one's immune.

I've passed many an hour there,
pants below my knees.
The place is open day and night.
You can come whenever you please.

Just go in and have a seat;
You're welcome one and all.
Take a load off your feet
when nature makes that call.

So, don't be afraid to make a move.
You can even bring a friend;
Just in case, there's a double seat
and you'll be happy in the end.

Slipping Upon a Crescent Moon

C antankerous and chimerical - comingle with my childlike charms.
A morous and antagonistic - angel wings melt within my arms.
N urturing and nostalgic - as I cradle one's frangible needs.
C aress my curvaceous chasms - when shared confusion slowly bleeds.
E ver evasive, always enticing - my heart may tease you; yet not tempt.
R eminiscent and roseate - dancing with dreams not yet dreamt.
