just like their love of fifty years
that they held very dear
the lilies and the irises
looked radiant that year.

they had no need to prove their love
just a knowing glance instead
and a gentle squeeze when holding hands
beside their flower bed.

when both felt tired from bending down
and working in the heat
they spoke of seeds and bulbs and things
drinking tea upon the seat.

having rid the soil of all the weeds
he hoed and raked the earth.
the yellow line of daffodils
spoke more than words were worth.

and when their lawn was cloaked in leaves
from the sycamore above
they cursed and sighed just being themselves
in the autumn of their love.

and as he sat there mourning
the passing of his wife
he looked upon the garden as

The Monarch of the night descends,
and for a time, her tenure ends
at daybreak.

She'll shut her eyes and sleep. But then
ascends the regal Sovereign
of daytime.

Imperial his stately rise;
majestic colors splash the skies -
our daystar.

His robe: the warmth; his sceptor: light.
His court: white clouds; his crown: in bright
gold - daylight.

Clouds part as labor stains my brow;
sweat stings my eyes. Of Luna now
I daydream.

Premium Member A Love Couple Cuddling On a Couch

The cute figurine I am looking at now
is one of a couple at home on a couch.

The guy, at the end of the couch, comfortably
relaxes, a pillow upon his left knee.

With her head on the pillow there at his knee,
his gal reclines sideways while they watch TV.

On the top of the couch is perched a white cat,
which I picture them now and then giving a pat!

In front of the couch of this sweet figurine
is their loyal puppy, completing the scene.

How nice it is to be comfy cozy
snuggling together, a picture so rosy.

How precious the moments in one’s family,
for with those we love is the best place to be!

For Timothy Lee

Eyes meet over sips of morning coffee;
warmth travels thru both my body and heart
while you couch-settle around and near me.
I value sharing a perfect day’s start.

I enjoy each fun, twosome adventure;
hands clutched in the dark, entering a park
where night skies speak no reproachful censor.
We swing, slide, laugh – our own romantic lark.

Home, a safe, private nest, our lives’ own stage,
is my best, favorite, real life place.
I relish all your couple, loving ways,
and my own happy, mirrored on your face.

Wrapping me secure within your warm skin
each night before giving way to our sleep,
is a blessed delight with my spirit’s twin.
I cherish the close embrace your arms keep.

Pleasure is us, standing strong together,
growing blessings, beliefs and faith as one,
knowing we each make the other better
and our love will be until time is done.

An Old "happy" Couple

Cherish me as I grow old, and am surely liable to forget things.
I know how interesting life is and the contentment it brings.
I know you'll make excuses to try and be miserable and even try not to go.
Now just have a good trip, even though I know your stress will just grow.

White, sandy beaches and salt tasted air, with an ocean so cold.
Aggravation sets in as we try to put our lawn chairs down to unfold.
Breathe, my love, its as simple as remembering the latch on the side.
Surely, all you had to do is ask, I'm tired of your old, stubborn pride.

Finally, we get our chairs situated and I'm ready to bask in the sun.
You ask for sun block and as I search, you assume I brought none.
Its just at the bottom of the beach bag, you stubborn old ass!
And don't think I don't see you sneaking a sip out of that flask!

I turn bronze as I used SPF 40, you chose SPF 15, and look at you.
Red as a lobster, mean as crab, and I'm enjoying the view.
I tried to tell you, but so stubborn, do you ever plan to listen?
Probably not now, nor never, so your skin will always be red and glisten.

How are you supposed to relax now that you can't move not even a limb?
Our stress free vacation, is as always, starting to look grim.
Oh well, aloe you up, and off to dinner we shall go and have some fun.
Take some Soma, Lortab, and Xanax and you'll be good and numb.

An hour later and you're stress free, and mostly out of that pain.
Good thing, because its in the forecast for Florida rain!
We'll hobble around the block and get soaking wet from head to toe.
Knowing tomorrow you'll be back in pain and stressed so we'll have to go.

But its like this every year, we plan to stay, but I know how you are.
One or two days of driving makes you stiff from sitting in the car.
It'll take the rest of our vacation for you to blister and finally peel.
You're the entertainment in my life, and that's why I'm with you still!

An Odd Couple

A dashing, young field mouse
Once married a shrew,
And they set up housekeeping
In an old tennis shoe.

When their babies were born--
Not shrews and not mice--
They were the proud parents
Of a shoe full of shrice.

If We

If we were a beach
then you would be the sand, diamond warmth,
and I the shingle underfoot.

If we were a pen
then I would be invisible ink,
and you a permanent marker, fluorescent.

If we were wine
you would be the vineyard, the grape, the wine list itself;
I a bottle unopened, left corked.

If we were a theatre
I am the playbill of a show cancelled and unseen;
you, the stage in spotlight: golden, applauded.

I the tile and you the whole mosaic
for us as a Roman floor;
I a shattered pane and you the handle
with us in the shape of a door.

As clothing – you a shiny button, me a thread to be snipped.
As hair – you a photographed trend, I a ponytail clipped.

If we were a couple,
Then you would be blind.
If our love was a tape,
I’d forever record, pause and rewind.

If we were a cake
you would be the fingertip licked icing
and I a batter filled lump.
If we were a body
then you would be the heart
and I the blood you pump.

Premium Member Happy Couple

Why do we have pairs of scissors?
Since that's how they've always been known,
why do we care why we call them a pair
when one is no good on its own?
The same thing applies to our trousers,
just wearing the one would be daft,
just showing one knee, ugly veins you could see
and I don't think I'd cope with the draught.
The same thing applies to my spectacles,
another I couldn't let pass,
since one on its own as a monocle it's known
so why not just call it a glass?
I asked my good Lady's opinion,
she said 'oh, that's quite plain to see,
as a pair we get on, and the jobs all get done
but you'd be useless without me'.

A Couple In Love

A young couple sits together on the beach
As he holds her close darkness approaches,
The sun free falls toward the sea.
Refusing to let her go he kisses her,
And whispers in her ear,
“I love you”
He lets his true feelings show
Three words so simple yet so meaningful
She smiles realizing she wants to be no where else in the world.
“Let’s never forget this” she says
60 years later…
An old couple celebrating their anniversary,
Wades into the water as the sun drops to the horizon.
Holding hands the woman looks at him with teary eyes,
“Do you remember…” she begins to say
“The first time I told you I loved you?” the man responded with a smile
“You told me never to forget” he chuckled
Tears roll down her cheeks as he holds her close
Refusing to let her go he whispers in her ear,
“Let’s never forget this”

You know, we are made for each other.
You are so soft, I am also not rough.’

I would like to live with your sister too.’

BELOVEDS

Encased in your arms, sheath of heart around me
Soliticious expression sigh in my ear
Fingers rolling through my hairs
A splatter of rain calling out lovers
The Chime of the clock desired to while away the time
Gravity pulled upon me, A Minute shape became a piece
Longing to be held in your arms, praying for eternity.

The moon and stars call out from the night, caressing the heart in whispers of delight – quote by poet

Clear, dark night, a star studded sky
Moon raining down light so I sigh
Whispering peace through the quiet
Sparkling through silence, a riot
Graceful stars plunge down toward us
Leaving glinting paths, such a fuss
Washing the skyline in wonders
The robust voice of God thunders
This moment in time is shattered
As the moon and stars are scattered
Night hushes the shadows gently
Shapes of sweet love blink intently
This evening brings the sweethearts out
Filling hearts with hope that won’t doubt
This night, like a smile from above
Reminds us to believe in love

Premium Member An Old Couple Walking On the Beach

There was this old couple walking on the beach…an old Grandma and Grandpa…and the more they walked the more they smiled at all the wondrous things they saw.

For they realized as they walked the beach…free of borderlines and fences
How one simple walk along the beach is a treat for all the senses..

Here are but a few things they experienced before their walk was done:
They saw a sky so blue it didn’t seem real…they saw clouds painted by the sun

They saw those same clouds block the painter…and immediately became aware…of how their colorschanged to blue…and there was a coolness in the air.

They saw pelicans glide high overhead…they saw sandpipers dart…and scurry
They saw people walking…some moving slow…others in a hurry.

They saw a sister chasing her brother through the water…her brother laughing…paying her no mind…They saw their father keeping a watchful eye…not too far behind.

They saw fishermen with lines cast…with giant catches in their thoughts.
They saw herons and egrets waiting patiently so see what they had caught.

They saw a child and his mother jumping waves while holding hands…then heading back to shore to make a castle in the sand.

They felt the coolness of the water as they floated on the waves…They saw dolphins and huge ships…They felt the salt spray on their faces and tasted it on their lips.

They smelled the ocean, the sand…and sunscreen…aromas they adore…
They listened to the roar of the ocean as it crashed upon the shore

Sometimes they stopped their walk…this was totally unplanned..
So they could listen to the stories hidden in the wind…the waves…the sand

And when their walk was finished…they were left, as usual, without speech…
glad to be together…
one old couple
walking on the beach.

There was a little girl that never quite seemed to fit in
out of step with a world that seemed to her full of sin

No matter what she did or tried there always was a gap
that seemed to grow even when she sat on her dads lap

Time passed by with little change except that she was alone
every one else appeared to have a special some one

One day the sun shone so brightly and flowers scented the land
it seemed a day full of expectation while softly played the band

Through the door stepped a man who also didn't quite fit in
yet at the same time it was apparent he was without sin
