Best Congratulate Poems

Premium Member Just For Giggles

For those who don't read blogs or know of Jan's successful first book, I've written a limerick for her and included it in my comment on her blog. She's included her interview in a podcast. I was asked to post my limerick here as well. If anyone would like to write a limerick in honor of her first publication, please join in and send me a limerick, or even a note to congratulate her. Thank you.

Jan, our Queen of Poop has a sexy voice
Crowned as Limerick Queen, she is our choice
But oh my lordy
Some are quite bawdy
Book sales are good ~ she's getting a Rolls Royce
                                  by Lin Lane

Jan's poems are clever and funny too
Full of bawdy lines and some about poo
Comedy at its best
Her poems will attest
Read" A giggle a day" to not feel blue
                                by Tania Kitchin

No rolls Royce or Winnebago camper van
A sedia gestatoria, for Jan
One with a floating loo
For outdoor number two
Carried shoulder high around the Isle of Man
                               by David Kavanagh

LONG LIVE THE QUEEN
Jan Allison has written her first book
It was a mammoth task she undertook
Preview it on amazon
I'll guarantee you'll want one
I've read a bit and my whole body shook.
                              by Tom Cunningham

Jan nixed the idea of getting a Rolls
She opted to put wheels on toilet bowls
Her farts serve as a horn
She ignores those who scorn
And she never gets stopped to pay bridge tolls
                               by Mark Koplin

In a bathroom where tales tend to unfold
And humerous secrets are often told
There’s a plop and a cheer
Laughter rings loud and clear
In porcelain chambers poems are sold
                               by Arthur Vaso

Poetry Soup’s Queen of Poop
has made herself a news scoop!
She published her book
and that’s all it took.
A second book is now in the loop.
                              by Linda Alice Fowler

Congratulations Limerick queen Jan
A poetess who’s from the Isle of Man
Pleased your book is a hit
A giggle a day gift
From an hilarious comedian.

When Poets Make Love

My dear poet-
I am forever grateful to you
For allowing my body
To be your page

Letting your words
Ascend on my temple
And descend
On my feet

How long will I thank God
For giving me you
As our passionate and artistic sessions
Gracefully formed poetry in motion

Lord knows
My body yearned
And needed the eloquence
Your poetry provided

Our poetry combined
Gave birth to volcanic verses
And flood-like rushes
Of the most liberated conversation

My poet laureate
Thank you for allowing
Your art to transcend
Into poetic actions

Your ability to allow
Your love to flow
Like a pen on paper
Amazes me

When poets make love
Sacred books
Unlock their meanings
And the majestic powers of words
Fill the universe
With marvelous expressions

Our collaborated efforts
Awakened the most powerful of poets
Who long ago fell asleep
Happily summoned with the stars
To congratulate our poetic bliss

When we made love
Our poetry was forever
Imprinted in the hearts
of all poets
past, present, and yet to come

Premium Member Grapes I'D Rather

I just got through viewing
The "Hot New Poems List"
With the names of those I know
and some I guessed I've missed

I breezed right though the first five
Then, right straight down to ten
and new there'd be no need
To ever check, that high again

Then, Flying though the twenties
Perhaps, the thirties I would place
Even in the forties
would be a saving grace

Perhaps the Soup was careless
For sure they are mistaken
Not every poem I have written
'till now, could be forsaken

Then, there were the sixties
and the seventies, AGAIN !
You'd think between lines they,
could s-w-eeeeeze my poem in

The eighties saw no hope
The nineties were amiss
You'd think that I'd be sad
Or just a little pissed

But I'll just keep on trying
'Cause, you can never tell
But, the truth is that I'm Happy
to see my friends all doing well

I want to especially Congratulate my friend and yours
Jan Alison for making the Top of the list
"Not bad, for a girl that writes "Pooh" eh........ Lol

All Poets Are Unique

One day, I decided I will beat Tom and be the first one to congratulate Potd poet. I kept my eyes on Potd screen, refreshing again and again. After a long time, I finally found who had got Potd. I clicked on poem title to be the first one to wish. Much to my dismay, Tom had already wished.
I realized I can't beat the expert

Next day I thought I will write ten poems. If Caren can do it, why not me? With 11 poems, I can even beat her. I sat searching for topics, finally found one. It took me one hour to write that poem. I was out of ideas, housework was calling me. I decided to quit.
I realized I can't beat the expert

Yet another day I thought I will write a funny Limerick like Jan, Tom and many others. If they can do it, so can I. I thought and thought but no joke would come to mind. Whatever I wrote, my son dismissed as not funny. Finally after many attempts he said, Mom it is not your cup of tea.
I realized it is not easy to be funny.

Yet another day I though I will beat Regina McIntosh by writing an awesome contest poem before her. I sat with a pen and paper, thoughts would not come. Whatever ideas came were not so good. After few hours, I gave up. By that time she has posted her prize winning contest entry
I realized I can't beat the expert

One day I though, I will write a sonnet. If Andrea can do it, why not me? It will be smooth flowing and awesome like her sonnets. I sat with Rhyme Zone and How many syllables on. When rhyme was in place, syllables went haywire. When syllables were perfect, it would not rhyme. It seemed like mission impossible. I gave up.
I realized it is not easy to write a sonnet. Certain tasks are best not attempted.

So here I am writing what comes naturally to me. Yes, it is free verse written in simple language

We have many experts out here, each with a unique talent which no one can replace. We are all unique in our own way.
As you write poems remember, your poetry has something special which no one can take away.

Octave-Choosing Carolyn

I'm stuck in a puddle of mud,
unable to make a quick decision...
whom should I choose from among
others who have been so noble and kind?
More than a name comes to mind:
Linda, Carrie, Deborah, Catie, Rhoda, Danielle, Charmaine and Karen...
please don't be envious if I choose Carolyn!
You all are beautiful sweethearts, and I wouldn't sell you for a song!

After my day closes in, I check my soup mail...and there they are
those wonderful names flashing on my computer's screen,
and dazzling like precious gems in a crown! Many more should be
mentioned, highly praised and underlined with a marker:
Andrea, Emy, Joyce, Constance, Iolanda, Elaine, Laura and Carol.
One thing I can attest, nobody is greater than the other,
because they all have captured me as I have caught butterflies
with features so distinct and feminine as heroines of modern times!

Carolyn, be dazzled and feel proud, if not hysterically happy;
and if my choosing is fair, why should there be any contention,
or envy among them...I am pretty sure that they have secret admirers,
who in the same manner of awe and respect, constantly worship them!
Cheer up ladies, I have mentioned you all in my praise poem,
but only one gets this special rose...I hope they will send yours today!
I love you all as I love Carolyn for her honesty and graciousness,
then why don't you congratulate her and deepen your admiration?

Consistency

"Consistency"
by: Eric L. Boddie

Contemplate, debate hate
Rate state magistrates
Mate great fates
Wait....date late
Deflate straight weight
Emancipate inmate traits
Dissipate irate gates
Indicate! Investigate! Litigate!
Incarcerate? Degradate? Incinerate?
Rejuvenate! Captivate! Demonstrate!
Innovate! Motivate! Fascinate!
Anticipate! Dedicate! Articulate!
Communicate....congratulate....exonerate
Infiltrate....penetrate....interrogate
Implicate! Detonate! Annihilate!
Separate? Segregate? Disintegrate!

Premium Member Do What You Must

There are things one must do in high society.
One must maintain appearances…and all that.
Know your manners.
Know your place setting.
Know your place.
Be social, congratulate profusely
and defer when appropriate.

There are things one must not do in polite company.
So escape expectations.

Run away at night.
Scratch up your feet.
Collect a few blisters.

Shiver and gasp
in a gleaming blue spring
of spring run-off.
Then run on.

Find old trees but respect not the elders.
Treat them as social ladders, and climb!

It’s lonely at the top, I’m told.
Nothing but a canopy of green.
Is it money? Jealousy?
Just leaves, perhaps…leaves? Leave?

OH! LEAVE!

Get your feet back on the ground
Where moon-cast puddles of light
lay dappled between dancing shadows.
Take in the dizzying ballroom.
Spin ‘til your head spins.
Sing if you want to…or better yet

SCREAM!!!!!

And scream again,
just to hear the world scream back:
"There are things one doesn’t do in polite company."

Screw it.
Run! Swim! Climb! Dance!
Scream until the world hears you!
Let them scream back. They surely will.
But there are things one must do,
In wild country.

Follow Like a Shadow

Remember ! I will follow you like a shadow
Because I love you so much
I am a shadow because you don't want to see me otherwise
I am a shadow because I don't want to be separate from you

I will follow you wherever you go
I will be in heaven if you go there
I will be in hell if you are there
Better stay on earth so I can stay here too

Your happiness are mine too
Your sorrows makes me cry
I know you don't want to share your feelings to me
But I feel the same way even before you feel anything

I wish you walk on the light always
Then I can exist for ever
I don't know shadow can exist on darkness
Don't ever choose darkness just to destroy me

Whenever you looked back you saw me standing there
You turned away your face and moved away with hatred
I followed you as fast as you ran away
Still my mind was filled with pure love

When you climb the ladder of success
I will be there to congratulate you
If you ever fall and weep
You will hear my soothing voice

Why shadow has different feelings now ?
In terms of love and hatred shadow can only love
Thank God for creating shadows
If not how could've I follow you ?

My final words.....
Don't ever try to run away.....
You can't be the real you...
Without your own shadow.......

Premium Member Vanquish Me Now

I oppress souls…
attacking every heart; exempting even the spirited
now, you’re my prey
yes, you who are despondent
frustrated, and now…
quitting!

Be prudently aware of my presence
hear my mocking, taunting reproach
I challenge you, believer of God...
Yes, you who have been testifying
that your faith is steadfast
face me valiantly---
prevail over my miserable torture!

Rise up and meet me---
where's your courage?
all I see is sighing in despair
along murmur of complaints
loser, I leave you, wallowing in your guilt
and bring to your nook many more
who enjoy pity-party sessions!

Oh, I hear you praying unto the Lord---
may I congratulate you, devoid of hypocrisy
You're now indeed advancing
Toward heavenly championship…
actually, smiting me is never impossible
since vanquishing me is undoubtedly easy
when you trust in God, your ultimate cause of triumph*
against me ---

DIMENSION CONTENTION

In the world of two dimensions
There is discord and dissension
About what exists beyond
The known space of which they’re fond

Some claim that’s it - just what they see
What else could there possibly be
Imagine more and you’re a dreamer
Or a superstitious schemer

You’d control the population
Giving fear of a damnation
In imaginary place
A third dimensionary space

Then there’s those who by chance bump
Into a strange Z Axis stump
Find themselves in unknown state
Exhilarated yet distrait

In their transcendental epiphany
Seen by others with antipathy
And regarded as unstable
Given psychiatric label

Yet others of more simple view
See their world as one way true
They’re the ones regarded dim
Branded ‘strait liners’ for their sin

So let’s congratulate ourselves
There’s no need to further delve
We know it all - every dimension
It’s all settled no contention

Woke Righteous

No dispute, we should all love our neighbours
With a kindness of nature that’s right
And we ought to be generous, favour
Our excesses, to those in dire plight
But then ‘ought’ becomes ‘must! or we’ll take it’
With imprimatur, hand outs for free
Delegating as agents our rulers
To make sure the fruit falls from our tree

And the words of the woke decreed righteous
Are: ‘What good boys and girls are we!’

Yes I’ll go with you - black lives matter!
And the yellow and brown even white
And that all should be equally treated
Should have always been so in hindsight
But what’s past is gone, no going back to
make amends to dead who suffered then
Though those wishing to signal their virtue
proclaim race guilt with voice and with pen

And the hearts of the woke decreed righteous
  Self congratulate then and again

I’ve a naive and innocent feeling
That the most of us have good intent
And would care for our friends and yet strangers
If misfortune and pain cause lament
So I trust that with this fellow feeling
In a civilised culture that’s free
Help will be given self determined
With no need for dictate or decree

Then the souls of the woke decreed righteous
may find deeper content with this key

Premium Member RFK JR, A RE-POST

With sadness, that never ceased,
I watched your Father shot on live television.
I was living in Chicago and Elena, a baby
in my arms asleep.
Your Father, Robert had just won California
and “on to Chicago” was his mission.

Sirhan-Sirhan., anti-Isreal, pro-Palestinian ,
shot your father in the hotel’s kitchen, near dead.
I sat in Chicago, in tearful disbelief, and all I could
feel was profoundest grief!
Screaming crowds wept as deep crimson-
warm, blood seeped from your father’s head.

And here you are now with your lovely wife and
actress, Cheryl Hines, about to follow in your
Father’s footsteps!
Your voice may sound strange as you are
affected by spasmodic dysphonia.
I am just an ordibary American because I
do not think one party is a religion whose tenets
are absolute truth.

Premium Member Top of the List

Let there be no shame in a struggle to the top
For everyone who is achieving is not being a fop,
But expending the effort to be the best they can
It means climbing further upward again and again.

Do not be jealous of those at the top of the list
For they had goals you may’ve, heretofore, missed,
Consider them excellent examples of fortitude
And do not upon their fine successes intrude.

Congratulate and encourage those on the ladder
Above or below you, it really doesn’t matter,
Everyone reaches the summit at his or her own pace
What’s really important is doing so with verve and grace.

The November skies darken early
Citizens walk in
To vote
Nationwide elections
High school gym
Opened just for them
Voices echo in the large hall
Clerks check names and addresses
Pointing to names in musty ledgers
As lines get longer.

The ones I can spot
Are the old veterans
Who spent their youth at
D-Day, Battle of the Bulge, Guadalcanal
I say
Courage to them
Who knew how to be brave
At so young an age
They walk slowly now
Wives often leading
You sense that for them
Time is running out
The hour glass near empty
They never bragged all that much
To them voting is a right.

You can spot the others
Waiting on line
Veterans of
Korea and Viet-Nam
They walk a little faster
Stand a little taller
But time will catch up
And the hour glass will reach its mark.

The voting is over
Discarded papers litter the floor
Doors locked
Lights turned off
As darkness slips into the empty hall.

Across town
Politicians congratulate
The winners
Deal are made
Promises promised
And on this cold night
Honest taxpayers turn in bed
Knowing that the next workday
Always comes early.
