"One can speak poetry just by arranging colours well,
just as one can say comforting things in music"
~ Vincent Van Gogh
You sing of beauty as you paint
in colors bold, with scant restraint -
poetic truths that harmonize
with tales of hope in the reprise.
A human symphony in oils,
of workers weary in their toils -
depicted honest, good, and true,
and your most loyal subject: you.
Compose a masterpiece to cast
poetic fragrances that last
one generation to the next
that parlay comfort to the vexed.
Though you were versed in tragedy,
you showed us, Vincent, what could be;
in vivid, dancing hues. Your goal:
portraying beauty of the soul.

I sit down to compose a verse
in which with pleasure I immerse
my mind and heart. What joy it brings
to me this night as my soul sings!
Yes, sing, my soul; guide my fingers
on the page where my hand lingers.
Let both the rhyme and rhythm flow
like from the sky fall flakes of snow.
Drift down, word-flurries of my mind
with heart’s emotions intertwined.
You drift down on this winter’s night
like snowflake sparkles of delight
to grace the page I write upon
as if a ballerina swan
has spun itself from inside me!
It sits here now as poetry!

How We Compose Poems As True, Dedicated Poets
I love how a poem starts with the first dreamy word
Just as beautiful melodies beg to be heard
Then poet quite wide awake and clear starts to dream
Soon he is picking up like locomotive on steam
Bringing heart and mind into a much higher gear
Truth and fantasy begin like song from birds
Does not matter if about love or abject fear
What matters, imagination, life, love may gift words
But the poet may be a beginner or star
What reader wants is to touch that dear beating heart
Does not matter, the when, where, how or who you are
Poetry pleases reader and is a fine start.
As poets we cast images to others please.
For some, may be hard, for others may be with ease.

Like a tender kiss, breathless as a whisper, his light kindles dreams, shadows my mind with serenity, as I compose affection that grows, glows and flows through my soul – by poet
Breathing hope that fades into smiles
His song drifts through my worst trials
Stirring the muse with hues of grace
Giving the heart a light embrace
He lifts all my fears, appeasing
Shining into souls, so pleasing
Gifting my mind with perfect peace
Pouring out love that will not cease
Dancing through my heart, a prayer
Ridding my thoughts of doubt, despair
Gentling my life, reflecting love
Striking fires kindled from above
Rich, vibrant raptures pierce the heart
Comforting souls with a fresh start
His compassion glows with a blaze
Sparked by the One who will amaze!

Sweet notes, promising joy and quiet peace
Melodies dancing lights that will never cease
Promises golden like the reflections of the sun
Calming hearts with hope that won’t be outdone
Songs of the soul, harmony beyond our dreams
Tunes with lyrics, bold and warm, music streams

oh, mother nature
saturate my keen senses
bring peace to your green meadows
starry night sprinkles
blossomed florets thirst for rain
preserve nature’s elegance
nourish chaste pastures
envision life as your own
lost in your allured beauty
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
nurse sweet baby chicks
cultivate fine sustenance
bring feast to earthly creatures
may dusk bring closure
savor moments of twilight
dawn peeks through slight morning dew
oh, mother nature
feel gratitude when you wake
have sweet dreams in thy slumber
Let us compose!
Don't dramatize,
Be always free
And humourize
Our pretty, tender
And shining faces:
It is the International
Happy Poetry Day!
Of all our good
And interesting places,
We would enjoy them,
We are okay,
All our Graces say:
Good luck!
Enjoy these poems
Every day,
Let our children
Play this game!
On beginning to compose a new poem...
Assaying thoughts gambol,
scuffling as in an affray
née crushing, jockeying, stampeding...
demanding equal airplay
gushing as metaphorical think
spigot turned on full force airway
thru totally tubular cerebral
microcosmic aisleway
vesicular conduit fifty
plus shades of gray
exhaling sigh of relief, cuz
transcending writer's block
innovative talent with words
did once again allay
needless panic, where yours truly
finds himself punchdrunk
in some dark alleyway,
an unfortunate fate
Matthew Scott alway
avert reminding myself
to utilize ujjayi breath
hard driving gateway
into Pranayama practices
analogous to make
emotional transit thru
golden itty bitty
teensy weensy archway
infinitesimal impossible mission
to pinpoint areaway,
yet crisscrossing meditative
zen zone an array
of utmost nirvana
will never lead effortless
mantra buffeted concentration
not lead astray
and matter of fact
lightness of being
scaling metaphorical kickstarting
rah height aweigh
up yonder within
outer limits twilight zone
re: supraconsciousness
keeping at bay
non intrusive thoughts
ruff lee collaring, mimicking belay
boring bonafide dog obedience training
pant tum miming (think) begging
reading future poetry (mine)
I inked the stem of a rose
Of which I shall write and compose
A poem for my endless wish
To create the best literary dish
But for each word I write a thorn pricks me
And my blood changes the tone so miserably
Perhaps next time I'll choose to compose
Without a thorned stem inked through a rose
I compose my poems like Wallace Stevens
by walking the streets of my town.
But unlike the esteemed Wallace Stevens,
I don't have to memorize or write my poems down.
I just turn on my cellphone's recorder,
then slowly whisper my word into it.
But instead of composing gems, like Wallace Stevens,
I tend to produce just a drivel of shhhhh~it.
To you my love I do propose
Cursory couplets to compose.
What sort of short verse would you hear
In short iambic rhyme my dear:
Coupled couplets in a couplet?
Coupled cutlets in a couplet?
Or perhaps a brace of bears bare?
Perhaps a pair of pears to pare?
Surely none, you have too much sense
As such poetry gives offense.
Often, I say, "Compose yourself,"
Take a book of verse from the shelf
Seeing chaos surrounding me,
I lay down insecurity.
Sitting in my goose-necked rocker
I suppose, it comes a shocker,
My thoughts drift to soothing places
Full of happy, saving graces.
Here, I can dream at my own pace
Drift into realms of inner space
I find deep comfort and repose,
I'm untouchable, I suppose.
I'll be happy if you'll come, friend,
This place of beginning, no end,
Find a place of sweet composure,
Never face a sad foreclosure.
Gaze up fondly at the sky
Breathe deep... Sigh... Ask why
Plumb the depths of your heart
Feel it shatter into myriad pieces... Cry
Ponder the secrets of the Universe
Let wonder fill your soul... Immerse
Softly stroke the letters of your keyboard
Pierce the darkness, gentle fingers... flaming swords
