Compose

I sit down to compose a verse in which with pleasure I immerse my mind and heart. What joy it brings to me this night as my soul sings! Yes, sing, my soul; guide my fingers on the page where my hand lingers. Let both the rhyme and rhythm flow like from the sky fall flakes of snow. Drift down, word-flurries of my mind with heart’s emotions intertwined. You drift down on this winter’s night like snowflake sparkles of delight to grace the page I write upon as if a ballerina swan has spun itself from inside me! It sits here now as poetry! It's always satisfying to write about writing, and I know you get a lot of joy from writing. You express that joy very well here. The snowflakes from the sky metaphor is perfect for having new thoughts precipitate down upon us.

That’s lovely, Andrea. You’ve hinted at what I like about writing. Sitting with a blank screen and ending up with a new coherent combination of words never uttered before. Better still when you surprise yourself with what you’ve written and have no idea where the notion came from. Ready the podium. Terry

I'm curious if you were watching snowflakes fall as you wrote this on your balcony... excellent use of winter imagery and your usual lovely cadence and rhyme as you describe inspiration as word-flurries drifting down. Fellow poets can relate to that feeling of pure joy as the thoughts form into words and then into poetic lines to be shared with others. Gorgeous writing, my friend.
