Notes About The Poem

Wallace Stevens often composed his poems while walking to work. He never learned to drive, so he walked a 2.4-mile route from his home to his office. You can still walk the same route today on a self-guided walking tour known as "The Wallace Stevens Walk."

I compose most of my verses while walking my collie dog, Bixby. smiley

I compose my poems like Wallace Stevens

I compose my poems like Wallace Stevens by walking the streets of my town. But unlike the esteemed Wallace Stevens, I don't have to memorize or write my poems down. I just turn on my cellphone's recorder, then slowly whisper my word into it. But instead of composing gems, like Wallace Stevens, I tend to produce just a drivel of shhhhh~it.
