Best Cheddar Cheese Poems
There were three mice, members of the mob
Wanted to retire, so planned one last job
It was deep winter and it started to snow
But they weren't deterred, and the job was a go.
Their names were Gnasher, Scratcher and Dred
And you dared not cross them or you'd end up dead
Even cats were afraid of their deadly scratch
But very soon they would meet their match.
The target they hit was John O'Neils dairy
But things were now going to get a bit scary
At the main entrance was a large welcome mat
And sprawled all across it was this mean looking cat.
Their luck was in and the cat was asleep
They ran towards him and then took a leap
There was a small hole by the front door
Soon they were in, and on the shop floor.
With some small cartons they built a bridge
Reached the door handle and opened the fridge
In the mousey world it was the ultimate goal
A rare box of cheddar cheese and that's what they stole.
Meanwhile outside puss began to wake up
Was very thirsty and wanted a sup
Then in the snow small footprints he spied
The game was now up for the three mice inside.
He spotted the thieves and he gave chase
But they sprinted off at a very fast pace
The God of mice was looking down on them today
They didn't get the cheddar, but they got clean away.
The camera's were played back the very next day
As the drama unfolded there were gasps of dismay
Puss was so happy his boss he did please
By foiling the robbery and saving the cheese.
O'Neil was so impressed with the actions of his cat
He rewarded him with sardines and a brand new mat
But for the three poor mice, it ended in tears
They were eventually arrested and all got ten years.

Narrative
Sunflowers,
cheddar-cheese petals
surrounding seedy-brown-mustard centers,
stand guard over hot summer pavement
like mighty oaks.
Laughing children
run in and out the yellow forest,
slaying dragons,
rescuing damsels in distress,
then pretending to be astronauts
sailing across space
to a planet inhabited
by tall, green stalk-like aliens
with golden helmets.
Did van Gogh imagine such things
as he painted so many saffron blooms?
Did their sunny dispositions
have any effect on him?
Did he really love those festive flowers?
Look for answers in the pensive starry night.

The opposition calls like intuition,
from down the halls to the master's kitchen.
Her knees are rocking cheddar cheese blocks,
and when she walks you hear Pop Rocks.
Her eyes are made of ribeye steaks.
Her lips are whipped cream topped chocolate cakes.
Her cheeks are stuffing with a gravy blush.
Her neck is a lamb chop, long and lush.
Her chest is dressed with fried chicken strips.
Her hips swivel with potato chips.
Her legs, saturated in maple bacon.
Her stomach, a malt drink, freshly shaken.
Her arms are sausage kabobs, super-sized.
Her ears are cream cookies, finely disguised.
Her hair boasts alfredo soaked spaghetti strands.
She holds a loaded potato with open hands.
She knows your struggles and echoes your taste,
never minding the size of your waist.
You want to break free and finally be thin,
but she follows you sweetly with that whipped topping grin.

Our annual sisters dinner at the Melting Pot. We pay to cook our own food. The shopping done by the restaurant. We climb into a huge booth, tell jokes, stories, sing funny songs about serious stuff — some sympathize, others laugh not understanding this is a true story. And we divide two bottles of wine.
the cheddar cheese
melts and devours morsels —
we pop into our mouths
Memories made, smiles exchanged. The waiter’s named David, who’s serving another David and he reminds me of a library book No, David, only I say Slow down, David. With one glass of Chateau Michelle this is a funnier joke.
sisters poke the pot —
assorted skewers hold meat
boiling in hot oil
Now I’m feeling like the holiday roast. This is one place that should only be done once a year. We talk some about kids but our families are mostly forgotten as we enjoy the adult bonding. Our sis-in-law was afraid we might add in shots. We did not but the food itself is intoxicating. After dessert we must make it to the car.

I should eat healthy, I really should! But life is too short for that. Food, food, food,
it chases away the blues, it brings comfort to the soul. So here is a list of the foods
that I L.O.V.E. and that make me happy. You will note a theme of cheese and
dripping butter (and chocolate) . . .
a chocolate bar, anytime
bananas, green, not ripe
crackers and cheese, as a snack
drenched in blue cheese, salads and homemade croutons
even, tortilla chips and chunky salsa
French fries from a chip wagon (on my way home from the gym)
grandma's recipe for beef stew with loads of vegetables and a rich gravy
hamburgers and hotdogs off the barbeque with all the fixings
ice-cream, chocolate of course
just out of the oven, french bread
keep the donuts and coffee coming
loads of meatballs, made from mom's recipe (in a sweet tangy sauce)
macaroni made with three kinds of cheese
nothing better, than spaghetti with meat sauce and parmesan cheese
onion soup, french canadian style, dripping with cheese
pizza, deluxe (peanut butter on toast before bed)
quick take out of chicken wings with hot sauce
really, really old cheddar cheese
steaming cobs of corn, dripping with butter and salt
tomato, bacon, and lettuce sandwich
until I say stop, chocolate
vegetables fresh for a farmers market
what is wrong with me, this is all so unhealthy
x-tra, of everything, please
yogurt with strawberries on the bottom
zesty dill pickles, aged one year

Cast a glance to the comet up high
with a name sounding awkward and dry
(in the stellar marquee
it's marked 'six-seven-P')
and a motion that's hard to descry.
As the comet continues to fly,
caught in gravity none can defy
(yes, it traces ellipses
through solar eclipses),
we ask 'does dark matter comply'.
So, we sent the Rosetta to pry
and I can't help but wondering why
(once in orbit) we spun it
so close to the sun, it
is likely to sizzle and fry…
But before, we may soon verify
that the comet's a custard cream pie
made of green cheddar cheese,
like the moon, if you please
(though that's gospel the savants deny).
When receivers no longer reply
(at the end of their solar supply),
we won't seek to debug 'em,
instead we'll we unplug 'em
and turn off our spy in the sky.
If it's certain Rosetta will die
then, oh lordy, I surely will cry
if we land it like Philae
behind the sun, shyly,
before I can whisper goodbye.

Two fried eggs I’ll have with cheddar cheese,
hash browns and some bacon on the side!
Would you make the bacon crispy please?
Two fried eggs I’ll have with cheddar cheese.
That lovely pastry also- such a tease -
looks like the Danish which last time I tried!
Two fried eggs I’ll have with cheddar cheese,
hash browns and some bacon on the side.

Sienna’s notebook matches the blue sky,
along with the stripes in her plaid shirt sleeves.
Cold pushes me and I wonder why.
The ground is littered with the trees’ old leaves.
Grass is dying from the lack of sunlight.
Trees constantly dance to their own wind song.
Ants run from it, thinking it is frostbite.
Leaves silently wish they could dance along.
Flowers wilt; frost covers like a blanket.
All the leaves in the ground are colorful,
not quite losing their bright colors just yet.
Plants die but nature is still beautiful.
The school buses getting cold from winter
resemble cheddar cheese on a burger.

Poor neighbors dog
poor neighbors dog.
Neighbor comes out
of his house
wonders whats wrong
face concerned.
For his
dog paces
back and forth
lowers his rear
closer and closer
to the ground
and....
unsuccessful.
Over and over he tried again.
Poor neighbors dog.
Cheddar cheese
at the crime scene
neighbor finds
to his surprise.
Cleans it up.
Walks away
happy its been resolved.
Never again will his dog be stopped up.
Two weeks later:
dog pacing his cage
trying and trying
but to his owners dismay...
unsuccessful.
Again.
An older man
found sneaking away
with a sweet smile on his face
in the early dawn,
half running, half limping away.
Chunks of cheese falling out of his pocket...
Jumps up the porch
runs in the door:
"Dad, where were you at so early?"

Moist it becomes when boiled;
Mustard colored when it's
Mixed with cheddar cheese and
Milk, this much loved dish is
Marvelous! Kids beg for
Mac and Cheese because it
Makes their taste buds happy!

Verse
It is Monday morning, time to unwind.
today I do laundry and I'm behind.
My son's pile is first and guess what I find:
Whiff of autumn wafts in the air
coming from a jacket pocket -
half a used caramel apple.
Still wrapped crackers labeled: "For: Claire"
cheddar cheese and peanut butter
mostly crumbs now in a lone glove.
Small New Testament lies entrapped
in the hip pocket of his jeans
a gift from someone in chapel.
Three permanent markers uncapped
the last of treasures dug out from out
the laundry. It's labor called love.
Some days I'd have washed it all with no care.
Today I find my washer needs repair,
which leaves me time to ponder, "Who is Claire?"
