Best Admiration. Poems
She said no without excuse.
I admired that.
Her eyes did not blink.
She did not explain.
She simply said ‘no’.
Quiet and plain.
Not I’m sorry.
Not I wish I could.
She said ‘no’ the way I wish I could.
Admiration For the Person You’ve Become
Don’t ever forget you will always be my little boy
Reflecting in the year’s past of your favorite toy
Was also your security blanket that you always kept near
A mere little stuff rabbit you loved so much dear
If it disappeared, it would always reappeared
From the washing to the drier because it had been so soiled
As you grew older the little artist and Shakespeare you became
Pictures, flowers, poems I would find I’d date and write your name
There were times fear overtook your little mind sweetheart
You would walk in your sleep until the pain would go away from your heart
You'd whisper in my ear to tell me you loved me
You always wanted to be like your daddy, inventive
You've become a man, “Mama I love you” you still tell me
You've become the carbon copy of your dad and passive
We are so proud you took the road of responsibility
Your dad and I agree
You are still my little artist and Shakespeare full of joy
Don’t ever forget you will always be my little boy

My Lovely Children
A Gift You Are
Who would have thought I would be blind
To eternal sunshine that’s mind
The day you were born was the beginning
My heart's petals bloomed most compelling
Tears of joy I shed while I saw you smile
In my arms I knew the pain was worthwhile
Lullabies sung and hummed to bring comfort sleep
As you lay in your crib without a peep
Challenges as you grew with bumps and bruises with footfalls
Sticky fingers, scattered toys, fancy artwork on the walls
Meaningful memories as I look into your eyes
Of the mischief you use to get into, but I was wise
I'll always be here whenever you need me
Stand by you, whoever you decide to be
Eternal sunshine that was mind is still my total joy
Don’t ever forget you will always be my little boy

Lying in the meadow on a long afternoon
I press soft against you and start to spoon,
but the lump at the base of your spine has now grown
(vestigial tail , I guess) presses hard against my places unknown,
so rolling you over and with gentle caress,
your yellow scaled elbow, I adore, I confess,
I trace the large bump on the end of your nose.
I just love the coarse hair and, how subtly it glows.
You sniffle so sweetly, as never ending it runs,
as of lipstick, thick mucous coats your lips, and you have need for none.
So I lie next to you, of your beauty I want more,
admiring your features, almost all I adore ...only one I abhor.
So, though shallow I feel, it saddens me greatly to know I must leave you
for the one thing I hate, I'm sorry my dear but your eyes are just too blue!

Remember when we were young, you and I
Bit of boyish mischief we used to cause
The swearing, pushing, shoving, and punches
We'd put on the charm when it came to mom
Bit of boyish mischief we used to cause
You, big brother, I followed and looked up to
We'd put on the charm when it came to mom
Inseparable, we stood by one another
You, big brother, I followed and looked up to
We went our different paths as we grew
Inseparable, we stood by one another
I miss the fun times when we were kids
We went our different paths as we grew
The swearing, pushing, shoving, and punches
I miss. The fun times when we were kids
Remember when we were young, you and I

A plain Pantoum not a rhyming pantoum
Contest Name PANTOUM
Sponsored By: Line Gauthier
February 10, 2020 POTD
Typically a pantoum is made up of two rhyming couplets, however, Western writers altered and adapted the form, the importance of rhyming and brevity diminished. So, pantoums do not need to rhyme.
Into her eyes I enter, free of unctuous pretense, my daughter, so I can feel it all as she.
An Arc to Heaven
Peace flows over my body
In calming, cooling waves.
Your words carry me to shore
Exciting, igniting my spirit
With sweet revelations of love.
My lonely heart blossoms
Slowly as dew drops awaken
With tender rhetoric shared.
They blaze, amaze my mind
With a peerless brilliance
As your verses elate my being
They delight, requite my most
Secret desires in poetic kinship
Which inspires, retires my soul
To soar high amidst the heavens.

*This poem is dedicated to the romantic poets at Poetry Soup
He was the bard from Stratford, and as a teenager
he helped his father in his trade; he married and had children
and became the most popular and admired play writer
in all England...acting was also his other pleasurable passion.
Curious Queen Elisabeth was one of the thousand spectators,
who came to see him in the Globe theater...she shed tears,
and was stunned by the performance of his timeless plays,
and yet, some of his fellow-poets criticized him for his writings!
I wish I had lived in that Victorian era so intellectual and refined,
and had met him in person and had showed him my ample admiration;
I would have asked him the secret, which made him so legendary and loved...
and he would have whispered it to me, to make me revel in that revelation!
I have read his inspiring works, and tragedies rampantly occur
from " Romeo and Juliet"...the Verona's immortal lovers, through" Hamlet "
whose insanity was undoubtedly caused by the specter of his father;
and why didn't Shakespeare choose less dramatic plays not ending in death?
He wanted to teach us indelible lessons to show us how the human spirit
can be passionate, adamant, loveless, envious, cruel, unfair and treacherous...
to outline all kinds of guilt: from murder to envy so well-expressed with eloquence;
it's no mystery to anyone how he conjured up such plots with grief, madness and wit!
Shakespeare was no ordinary kid, and he played with his siblings on Henley Street,
neighbors saw him trot to his grammar school, later he would make everyone weep;
early in adolescence, did his prodigious mind envision one from a vague thought?
It's no wonder that he is widely read even today...hear his speak, he'll impart worth!

Come my beloved
rest long within
the ethereal reaches
of my haven
within my sanctuary
rest your wickedly disconsolate
mind and so lay in repose
absolve yourself in shadows
cast for you
renew yourself in
the mist of my creation.
Crush me with your suffering
and your broken dreams
and your histories and your
deadliest deceptions
those cunning slayers of
all your hopes
so as I cast spells from
my dying contemplations
my terrible meditations
far West
I can obliterate them
annihilate their affect
vanquish their theme.
Envelope me in your angst
in your sorrow and your grief
as I lay dying
behind black embers
buried in the debris
of my decaying magic
ignite my cold conjurings
into vivid imaginations
into vibrant vagrancies
impress upon me
your utter depravities!
Suffocate me with
your inglorious sufferings
that I might ever
fixate on them
ruminate their demise
fashion my incantations
while I sleep
in the furthest
reaches of my
dread desolate world
while I sleep
in my secret realm
that ancient city
forged from mystic sands
which drift far and wide
far beyond the sphere of
creations glorious cosmos.
Admiring you from a distance,
wanting to feel your breath upon my skin,
Looking through your eyes to your heart,
but you don't let me in,
Holding my eyes to yours,
not wanting you to go away,
just sitting here starring at you,
not knowing what to say,
I know you are the one for me,
i'll tell you how I know,
please give me the chance to show you,
I Love You,before you go,
This admiration is just so strong,
I can feel my heart beat fast,
knowing what I have with you,
just wishing it will last,
Babe,I hope you understand this,
all of this is true,
my heart is overflowing with Love,
I have ,for only you......

I saw you once,
and the thought of you refused to leave.
The day was fleeting,
yet I wished the same for the night,
just to let the echo of you stay with me a little longer
I wrote you poems,
scattered my heart across notes,
believing I had mastered the assignment.
But no.....
it was your love language
I was only beginning to learn.
This is different.
Unpolished, unborrowed
Its raw from the depths of my heart.
Oh, when I met your eyes,
heard your voice,
felt your touch,
I thought I had tasted life’s sweetest wonders.
Then you smiled
And the world itself seemed to pause.
Damn.
The world confessed,
This girl is out of this world.
Beauty beyond dispute,
grace beyond argument.
Love at first sight?
Perhaps.
But whatever it is,
it feels eternal,
& to me it feels just right.
kissing golden sands
in endless admiration
accursed by the moon
a sweet surrender
caught in stoic web of time
joy reigns eternal
waves hug sand
sweetly serenades
‘Would you be my valentine?’

Tracing the silhouette of her
hourglass shape,
I think of succulent lemons,
those ripe citrus display
of pure divinity
just waiting to be peeled
and deliberately savored...
I gaze upon those valleys,
hills of flesh, wanting to run wild
through her verdant splendor,
but then again,
in all my distant admiration and passion
she's an eternal goddess,
life's timeless image of art...
and I am only a human.

What I Really Like Contest Re-post 3/02/2019
~ Painting of Francesco Hayez, ' Venus'
I long to look into your eyes, such beauty I will see
It matters not what others think, cause' it only matters to me
I love the way you talk to me, with wonderful amaze
For it seems like I've known you all my life, though I've only known you days.
God sent a blessing to my heart, I can feel it in my soul
For the countdown til the day we meet, is starting to take it's toll
You are caring and loving with thoughtfulness, you are wonderful and bright
I find myself always thinking of you, every day and every night.
I pray to God you're not a dream, how I hope that you are real
To have the chance to be with you, is a wonderful appeal
The compassion you have for others, the way you lift their spirits high
Can only bring praises from all the saints and make the angels cry.
The kindness you give others, and the way you always see
The good that people hold inside, makes you very special to me
Even though we’ve not yet met, I cannot wait to start
To give the love I hold inside, for it's coming from my heart.
i am that guy in the corner watching
as many try but fail....i admire you from afar
i am not interested in getting with you
i am just interested in watching you just be
the way you move....the way you present your caricature
it is like i poem that i just cannot write....but the words dwell in my head
yeah, we say hello to each other
yeah, we smile at each other in passing
yeah, we steal stares at each other wondering what the other is thinking
the difference is, i imagine myself doing things that some may deem "nasty"
you, on the other hand, just stop, look, and wonder for however long your attention span allows you
that being known by me, i remain in the corner watching
oh how wonderfully your hips sway....oh, how lovely your legs look when you walk
i am not interested in loving you
i am just interested in appreciating the beautiful, confident black woman that you are
the way you light up a room....the way you voice your opinion and get your point across
you are out of my league by many unreachable miles
knowing this, i know that i will never come close to knowing you
however, as long as my eyes are able to see, you will always have an affectionate admirer in me....
