She Easily Can Say No

She said no without excuse.
I admired that.
Her eyes did not blink.
She did not explain.
She simply said ‘no’.
Quiet and plain.
Not I’m sorry.
Not I wish I could.
She said ‘no’ the way I wish I could.

I admire people who can. I have a struggle with "no' myself.

Hahahaha I just found this comment today, when I am home sick, and my eyes are only slits of their former selves. It feels like my eyes have the mumps. Thanks Rhona.

O - there's a lesson I never learned. Well expressed, Caren.

Thank you Line. I have learned it, and have often burned myself by not being able to do it. Worse yet, I have heard my traitorous mouth say "I'll do it," when my heart is screaming "NO! NO! NO WAY! No!"

Simple little verse and yet so meaningful. I know someone close to me who needs to say "NO", regards, Kevin x

The younger women of today seem to have this mastered much more beautifully than my generation though, and I applaud them for it!

I have one friend whom can't say, "No" at all and it takes it's toll on her. Such a true poem; well done.

She really needs to practice in front of a mirror, and be sure and let her know in order to be effective, she must not feel guilty. There is always someone else, and if there is not, then the person asking has burned all bridges.

Oh I can relate as I keep being asked to join a committee and I keep saying no and the lady involved asks hubby if I'll do it and he keeps saying no but she still persists lol Bravo to this lady as it is actually very difficult to do especially when you are being pressurised!:-) added this gem to my faves and just read it to hubby!:-) hugs Jan xx

Thank you Jan. I have to say I admire the people who can do it with absolutely no remorse, regret, explanation or apology.
