This is the day

Of that reminder..

Two stories leap

One of a missing

Between

The other of 

Beginnings and

Endings and a

Between lived

In joy and sorrow..

These two

Are not two...

Ashes to ashes, dust to dust,
here goes my goldfish, with one flush.

here goes my gerbil, with one flush.

here goes my turtle, with one flush.

Earth To Earth Ashes To Ashes Dust To Dust

Earth to earth, ashes to ashes, dust to dust
are we merely earth, ashes and dust
with awareness
free will 
and a conscience
consciousness
with the ability to choose
guided by our morality
or is there more
should there be more
must there be more
is it maybe
our dissatisfaction
with the here and now
that causes us to believe in more
to wish for more
I am quite happy

Ashes To Ashes

Only the dead
see an end
to war

Ashes to ashes
dust
keeping score

Only the living
revere
the dead

The past
in exile
—the future in dread

For now I’ll whisper upon the past

To perhaps let some hardness of mine go

And travelled a bit lighter then,

Hoping to consider the end.

They can't have the Ashes trophy so they have a cup,
it's becoming irritating as they're trying to catch up,
there's nothing you can say, all out at the end of the day,
square leg in a round hole, not suitable some might say.

It looks like Sodom and don't worry about Gomorrah,
they won't listen, told to grow up

 Ashes to ashes, dust to dust

All that’s manifest, is but dust
Dead leaves falling, upon earth’s crust
Yet in-dwells in all, God essence
Enlivened by divine breath just

Child of God, glows in innocence 
Heart bubbles forth effervescence 
Earth life a school, where we awake
Rekindling soul’s luminescence 

It matters not how long we’ll take
All will rise, none will

Since she died, I have to build
a makeshift funeral pyre
to burn up all the secrets told
her letters lit afire

I read them through before I do
the funny, sweet and shocking
things she shared when we were kids
vicious flames now mocking

Their heat distorts my vision
with a wavering in the air
as I quell my indecision
and try hard not to
