100 Words About You

100 Words About You

By Gregory L.

They gave me one hundred words to tell the world of you,
I knew before I started that a hundred wouldn’t do.
I wasted three on “I love you”—too common for something this rare,
Spent ten describing your beauty, then wished I had them to spare.

I burned through twenty on your smile, still never caught its light,
Spent fifteen on the peace you bring that lets my soul sleep at night.
Twelve tried explaining why your touch can feel just like home,
Yet without you, every word felt alone.

I spent ninety-nine describing everything that makes you shine,
Then saved the final word to thank God you are—

Mine.

One Hundred Words Words Life and the True Cost of Freedom

Kept wonton and willing, the new day's many, flower' petaline; all opening up to the moment.

If but only briefly, and if but only merely, and if but just once; now all beholden under the gracious eye of the Sun.

There full and in bloom by the fancy of our Creator, some there laying spent and still and melding now into the kindly need of the ground.

No, Heaven knows no other abandon and no kinder reflection, of the desire of all life, sharing in this and knowing no other welcome!

The cost of true freedom is to withhold nothing!

...

100 words above.

 ...

I use Grammarly on my computer. This is supposed to be my support for writing, lol!

I received a yellow neutral face meaning that this is neutral, no low, no high emotion to this effort.

The program had no idea what this writing means, lol.

I hope that you do!

Once Upon a Time

Weren’t we all fifteen
Once upon a time…
And the world
Revolved around us and only us?
Parents were no more
Than convenient caretakers
Who had no idea
Of what was involved
In the singularity of being young…
Weren’t we the only ones…
Once upon a time
Who truly knew pain and sorrow
Ecstacy and passion
And the crushing feel of a broken heart?
Weren’t we all beautiful one day
Then hideous the next?
Top of the heap
Or bottom of the pit
Deeply depressed
Or supremely sublime?
Of course we did!!
Weren’t we all fifteen…
…Once upon a time?...

Premium Member Words Don'T Come Easy

We’ve been asked to pen one hundred words
Perhaps I’ll write about butterflies and birds
I must not write a poem about floating turds
as words such as turds are used by nerds!

The bright sun shines, this idea is much better
and when it rains my garden gets wetter
When it’s cold I should wear a sweater
and I should stay indoors and write a letter

To ensure that I’ve got the correct amount
It would be wise to check on my word count
With every line the word count will mount
To write one hundred words is paramount!

Oh, jungle, deep ...
hug me close your jade breast -
I long to hear a thrum within ...
let your warm whispers tickle
the tympans of my ears with
sultry songs of your essence ...
and your tangle of mysteries.

Face-to-sky, I breathe ...
heaven's warm weep patters -
rinses, bright, your petals
and paths, echoing tender
through primal magnificence,
the labyrinth of rills and falls.

A breeze born of orchid and
paradise, presses your breath
to me, and I wonder aloud of
blessings as pure and perfect,
of moments as divine,
of this, the bloom ...
of life.

Seeking the Green Sea

Off I go to seek the green sea
Under the toe sand I feel
With water drops splashing me
I look to the sky with stars in my eyes
Wondering which one I should wish
Her heart I haven’t felt wishing for her
I ask this wish to come true
Never a day goes by without this wish for you
We came together long ago
This tail I must tell it was my wish for you
Now you have passed upon to the heaven
I thank you for this time I had with you

Forever we will always be together

Premium Member Red Herring of Lapsing Time

Fall’s felicitous red herring —
the mystery of leaves morphing.
The autumnal applause fairing.
Verdant heat and daylight dwarfing.

The horologic ticker chimes,
as lines are drawn on pumpkins patched.
Gramps, it’s apple picking time.
The scarecrow’s wise with balding thatch.

Forensic crisp of maple leaves —
children foolishly blinded by
the crimson and yellow dervish
heap...how quickly green does die.

Snowy bonnet soon covers plot —
arthritically profound.
The creaky ice of knees and knots
embellish the grownups’ playground.

Sought are the days of yesteryear —
chirping of birds and childhood friends,
standing aloft swing with no fear,
ascending where sunlight transcends.

With glasses now I'm "four-eyes?" (Yes, I'm skinny. Yes, I'm plain.)
But it baffles me you noticed since you haven't got a brain.
My skin's so white! No kidding? Well, in the summer I'm bright red!
You too were born my color and you'll be it when you're dead.
I'm frigid and unloving ‘cause I won't go all the way?
Well, you don't even turn me on. I bet you turn girls gay.
I got "lucky" playing ping pong when I beat you? Is that right?
So strong I've grown, I bet today I'd beat you in a fist fight!

The Conspiracy Theory

Peter says to Paul
Let's climb the wall
and peer the other side,
Is pasture greener and wide?

Abdul says to Rasool
I am nobody's fool,
Which side of the bread is butter
or burnt, I know better.

Jacob says to Rufus
Why do they all make fuss,
We'll inherit them all—
The pasture, the bread and the wall.

Sunjay says to Vijay
Let's join this fray,
Take their salt and sweat
Until our needs are met.

Says Bruce Lee to Chang Lee
Let's follow them and see,
Claim our piece of the pie
We'll beg, steal or simply buy!

Premium Member The First Love

The first time we had met
in the drizzle of the setting sun,
your flushing face I painted
on the blank canvas of mind.
Your parted lips alluring,
your dove eyes enticing,
flashed in dreams designed for me.

In the tempest of time
these dreams blew away
with the squall on sail.
Rising from the debris of wreckage,
I set sail on a new sea,
the uncharted course guided by
the beacon of flickering memory.

I reached the shore entranced,
the drifted dreams returned
with your face on moonbeam.
Time couldn’t ravage my longing,
for eternal is the first love.

OUR LOVE

        Silver Moon in charcoal night
       Dreamy heart to dance delight.

       I move on your move.
      So clear, not to prove.

     You are my wonderful world
      that shines, glows as emerald.

       Blood in flood drinks desire
      Fast heart beats shiver severe.

     Emotion craves clinging in arms.
     Passion oozes in your charms.

       My ardent ardor to dither
      flows, flees, vacillates in ether.

       Deep love sinks and dips
       gets sealed on pressed lips.

        Moon winks, stars smile above.
        Zephyr too enjoys our love.

         Scarlet rose I will offer
       Come close, if you prefer.

     I breathe on your breath
     and will, till my death.

Come, Let's Give It a Try

Come, let's give it a try

Every life is soaking
with autumn color
Why shall we
stay shabby
Said she

He looked the other way

They had filed a divorce petition

I have fixed an appointment
with a counselor
She says
We can resolve our differences

He looked out of the window
Clouds were painting

They were walking
to the therapy centre

A car ran over
the toes of a little girl

Both rushed
Held her with their arms
As if she was their daughter
The girl clasped them tight
Both smiled
Hummingbirds whistling
I love you
Both said simultaneously

God be praised and thanked for He loves me so
He sees my heart of great awe to His name
My soul that yields to His might---He knows well
As He hears glad words* of trust from doubt's fright
His hands hoist my faith that serves by His grace.

Oh, I sing with joy; my mouth shouts blest hymns
Since the Lord* sets me in His grand best will
Full of peace, bliss, hope, I can share midst care---
His light guides my steps from snares of sin blight
Now freed from hell’s sting, I do live for Him.

*Isaiah 61:10 I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation…

Premium Member Still Trudging

STILL TRUDGING…..

TRUDGE….TRUDGE….TRUDGE….
DAY……AFTER…… DAY
fueling the fires of experience
laying waste the fears of failure
laying stone upon stone of truth’s foundation.

STILL TRUDGING…..

through shifting nuances of doubt
itinerant thoughts mindlessly meandering
through the embers of experience
ego fire walking on smoky memory.

STILL TRUDGING….

over the peaks of euphoria’s joy
into the valleys of serenity’s silent calm
wading through the cold truths of mountain streams
laughing at the voices of canyon-less echoes

STILL TRUDGING

through the vagaries of life’s uncertainties
looking to the future
wary of the past
living in the present
leaving footprints on hourglass sands.

Oh, Tell Me a Story

Oh, tell me a story of romance, my friend,
Of kisses, caresses, and hugs that don't end.
For I've been a warrior and giver of death,
And too many times have I seen that last breath.
I long for the peace that I see in your eyes,
And the laughter and good will that comes from the wise.
I dreamed in the rain of blue eyes and fair hair,
And the breath of an angel, sweet and so rare.
Oh, tell me of blue eyes and where they may be -
And then let the breath of an angel transport me.
