Contest Description

What to Submit?

1. One Irish themed limerick, make them humorous or bawdy.

2. Follow the directions on how to write a limerick, see below.

da DUM da da DUM da da DUM   7-10 syllables   A
da DUM da da DUM                       5-7 syllables    B
da DUM da da DUM                       5-7 syllables    B
da DUM da da DUM da da DUM    7-10 syllables  A

3. Please have lines 1, 2 and 5 all rhyme and have the same syllable counts, and not to exceed 10 syllables.

4. Lines 3 and 4 should rhyme and have the same syllable counts and not to exceed 7 syllables.

5. Poems dated before 3/19/25 will not be considered for placement, or with more than one limerick.

There will be multiple placements.

Preparing Your Entry

Submit one copy of your poem online. Format your poem. Please make your entry easy to read — no illustrations or fancy fonts. 

English Language

Poems should be in English. Poems translated from other languages are not eligible, unless you wrote both the original poem and the translation.
