Lin, you would love visiting my home in Newfoundland. The accent of many of the people here is very similar to the Irish accent. In fact, my father was mistaken for a native when he visited Ireland several years ago! Congrats on the win. Take care.

Lin, this a wonderful limerick. I like it. Ireland is certainly the land of sprites. And you took the readers inside that world, which makes your poem all the more interesting.

could do with a few more Mick McDugals around - nice for women to be appreciated and not put down and treated like they are inferior - least i dont have to walk behind my hubby as they do in some cultures where men are treated as some sort of gods - thank goodness for equality!:-) hugs jan xx

If guff is given it should be taken. We’ve taken a lot. What I don’t appreciate is women being lumped into one gold fish bowl. We don’t swim in schools. A gentleman walks side by side with women and would never demean them while foaming at the mouth.

Every man should be like McDugal, and best of all it costs nothing. Tom

Thanks, Tom. You're one of the men I know, in and out of the soup, that has shown an enormous amount of respect for women, even those you're not very fond of. ;-)
