ABOUT ME : Late babyboomer Canadian born in the beautiful Eastern Townships of Quebec, and raised in Northern Ontario. Fell in love with Ottawa where I received my B.A. with a major in french literature. Still living in Ottawa, I'm finding out that oncoming golden years offer a very rich perspective on life and beauty.

The themes of my poetry are found in everyday life. I write mostly free verse but I'm also a member of Haiku Canada and have had haiku published in various anthologies.

Please visit often my growing collection of poems and I hope you find many will resonate with you. I'd love to hear your comments.

By the way, my name is pronounced Lynn, and my avatar is an ink painting I created on rice paper years ago. The symbol means PLAY - something I have finally learned to do in later years and poetry is definitely my favorite form of play.

Dear Brian,

So you've judged your last contest ~

On behalf of so many of us, please accept our heartfelt appreciation for the immensely popular PoetrySoup contests you so generously sponsored over the years ~ it was a treat when, by popular demand, you decided to postpone your "retirement" ~ at a time when it was maos needed and appreciated.  Very best wishes for your well deserved break ~

THANK YOU, BRIAN !!

LINE WHY I CHANGED MY MIND ABOUT MY CONTESTS was purely to read what poets had been inspired by their muse to write. As a poetic idealist I will be giving this another try

Brian, I've been very grateful for your contributions to Poetry Soup in your blogs, contests, and encouragement. I benefited greatly from having so many contest winning poems to read as I learn a variety of poetic forms and styles at the hands of many talented writers. I'm grateful for the time and effort that went into your judging. You have helped many poets grow in their pursuit of better writing (and reading) of poetry. God bless you as you take a respite ~ John

Cheers Constance, thank you for your support thereto.Unlikely to happen as I relate below, what I seek to do is not possible here at PS.

Brian, you have been and will continue to be poetry's ambassador to Poetry Soup. Your blogs and blog flash contests were master classes of poetry forms. The irony is that many of your contests were "any form, any theme," yet even they showcased a variety of poetry forms at their best. Best wishes to you and yours, Mr. Ambassador, and continue to stay safe! ~Mark

3)My ideal would be .. a newly written poem on any theme, but that is difficult to monitor here without an onerous 'internal audits' before finalising.

2)As I mention on Greg's blog,my contests sadly attracted too many entries for other reasons, and so was the key reason I have 'retired' therefrom at this point. Most of my 800 contests a decade+ ago were specific form types,so it is important to jump through such hoops, especially during a poets development.

1)Thanks for your kind words which are much appreciated. My contests were aimed to see where poets themes had taken them when writing from inspiration rather than meeting a sponsors requirement.
Date: 6/17/2020 11:00:00 AM
Thank you Line and everyone who entered over these many years, you enable me to indulge my opinions on what I considered poetry to be.Each time I checked the list after judging the entries it was a rewarding moment and if it gave others recognition then that was a bonus.
