ABOUT ME : Late babyboomer Canadian born in the beautiful Eastern Townships of Quebec, and raised in Northern Ontario. Fell in love with Ottawa where I received my B.A. with a major in french literature. Still living in Ottawa, I'm finding out that oncoming golden years offer a very rich perspective on life and beauty.

The themes of my poetry are found in everyday life. I write mostly free verse but I'm also a member of Haiku Canada and have had haiku published in various anthologies.

Please visit often my growing collection of poems and I hope you find many will resonate with you. I'd love to hear your comments.

By the way, my name is pronounced Lynn, and my avatar is an ink painting I created on rice paper years ago. The symbol means PLAY - something I have finally learned to do in later years and poetry is definitely my favorite form of play.

Line, I am not liking the new changes. It is a challenge to find things. Hopefully I will get used to it soon.

It's the same in supermarkets /convenience(!!) store...changes made @ whim of some marketing brainstorm ... of delusion that it will increase sales!

I’d say the earlier format was better but I guess it is the Admin’s prerogative to change the layout etc. Moreover, now that the changes are already done, criticism would be unwelcome, as of human tendency.

I used to be able to get to the area "poems entered in other contests" but now I can't get past the first six pages. I have to be at the computer. also at my phone I cannot find blogs, so I am here at my computer again just to mention this. How are people getting to blogs on their phones?
Dietrich Avatar

Someone finally told me that. But I still am unable to scroll right on the pages of my poems entered into contests. That was a very useful tool to me

Blogs perhaps should be listed under site links and then Soup Social section but they're not. As Tom mentions below on a phone you have to click the three straight lines (Menu) at the top of the page and then scroll down to find the blog link. Cheers - Gary

Hmm, it's like the whole page has been stretched. I was looking and my poems look different. Soooo much space for no reason. I agree with you Anaya, about avatar's not zooming anymore. For me, it was neat and easier the way it was. ~ Brandy

I found if your heart desires it enough, you'll figure it out... poke around! lol. Your avatar it doesn't zoom in any longer---administration xX Just in...I can click on avatar! Thx adm. also I like our poems in light gray! They made a darker gray bold font as headers....it's much better now. Also no more two spaces after period. It's actually a beautiful page, I love it! Great job - PS website software developers

Most of us dislike change once we're used to something, especially as we get older but... if we had been used to this new way and it was adjusted to the old way, we wouldn't like it either. Where this would/will be an issue is if they have opened up that space for advertising instead of poetry related functions?
Kauffman Avatar
September 6, 2025 at 1:03 PM
Craig your thought about making space for more advertising is exactly what I was thinking. I opted out of receiving ads but that doesn't seem to have registered with Team PS. Ads are distracting and often interfere with my chain of thought when writing or commenting. Basically what I am saying is "I hate them" even though I know they are a necessary financial evil for PS. And for me they have a reverse reaction. I want nothing to do with the products. Hope all is well with you. Thanks for your blog!

this new site design is truly awful, what was wrong with the old one?? more complicated trying to navigate now, much simpler just to have everything listed down the left side and able to quickly click on whatever you want..they should've at least sent emails out to everyone explaining the change and giving instructions how to access things
Evangeline Avatar

I don't like this new layout either. What's even the point of cramming everything in a the top banner, then leaving blank spaces on the sides? The site links doesn't have a dropdown, so we have to load pages twice to get where we want instead of just directly clicking them from the sidebar.

Radice Avatar
September 6, 2025 at 1:33 AM
I'm liking the new interface. The one issue I have though is that the site is taking quite a few seconds longer to load than before. Is anyone else having this issue? It won't put the diehard poet fans out there in Google Land off from waiting for PS to load but might do for someone with a short attention span. Cheers - Gary

Dear Line, It does look different at PS, especially from what I'm used to. I'm learning to navigate and adjust. Change is good sometimes. However, if it's not broke, don't fix it. That's just me and my simple thinking. My best to you. Hugs, Brandy

Greetings Line! I too am having trouble with the site especially in the listing of new contests. Have missed several in the past because I didn't see them listed and I check the contest listings every day. I am really unhappy with the changes being made requiring several steps to get to information rather than a simple one step click! I am sure PS is trying to improve the site but it isn't working. And what is this nonsense of the message to log out to post a blog comment! Thanks for your blog! A

The navigation is OK but a little confusing. I do not like the new FONT which is underwhelming and bland. => the number of views has suddenly 'exploded' Is this for real????

TPS did a blog about changes. This seems to be the first in a ( and hopefully short) series. One of the things that makes PS superior (IMO) to other poetry sites is their graphical user interface (GUI). I hope they don't do anything crazy like Campbells did when they discontinued the SpaghettiOs with franks.

Tom - it is best to avoid processed foods, but I just don't care. As long as we get to Heaven, for when we get there, we gonna wish we died at birth. Gary - I have heard of the Hoops & Loops but was not aware of the sausages.

Andrea, I wouldn't say like, more like LOVE! I know processed foods are bad for us, but they are convenient & tasty. But my biggest weakness is hamburgers. I would like to see McDonalds change the Big Mac into the diameter and weight of a double Whopper & priced the same. The current Big Mac would then be renamed Mac Jr and would continue to compete with current single patty Whopper.
