I was born and raised in northern California in the land of the glorious redwoods. My father worked in the lumber industry and my brother and I had a simple but wonderful childhood. Off to the big city to become a nurse and all these years later I still am. I was married for many years, have 2 grown boys and 2 young grandsons..Jordan and Elliot. Me proud? You betcha..it truly is the best thing about growing older. On my own now and enjoying all that I can cram into my life. I love music.. am a life long member of The Friends of Jose Carreras..poetry and music are my loves.I am a technaphobe..so bear with me while I figure this all out.

Hi there, I'm slowly judging my CLOUD contest.. I'm so sad to say that there were many entries that did not follow form in any way...some were quite good and it hurts me to have to eliminate them. For the life of me, I cant understand why such a simple thing as using the form requested is not followed. I have run into this before, but for some reason it is really getting to me this time.
Well, hope to have my contest judged in the next couple of days...BG

Hello Barbara, just checked mine and I am pleased to say I dont have to sit in the naughty corner. I know the feeling when judging a contest already out of 13 entrants I have 4 that have absolutely nothing to do with the contest. ..Seren

There's really nothing to be done about 95% of the time even contacting them does not work. Many times if I think a verse has great potential and is now say at a 6-8 in my ranks I tell them too..this is great why not elaborate here or polish the punctuation etc NOPE their verses are too precious to them, change in anyway is upsetting to some poets. Don't let it get to you [we need to remember it's not about us it's about them!]

His Barbara, I just launched my new contest two days back and what I specifically asked was to submit poems in any form except Free verse from three lines to 14 lines. And LO...the first entry I received is free verse with more 20 lines. Wish you good luck in judging...

Barbara, I sometimes feel that way with my contests too. I have already forgotten the form you asked of us in this contest and can only hope I followed what you asked. Sometimes we just get in a hurry and don't read instructions as well as we should. I really hated the times I did that in contests I entered in the past! It's really a quandary sometimes to know just how strict to be with one's rules. I think I have that problem every time I judge!!! good luck!
