I was born and raised in northern California in the land of the glorious redwoods. My father worked in the lumber industry and my brother and I had a simple but wonderful childhood. Off to the big city to become a nurse and all these years later I still am. I was married for many years, have 2 grown boys and 2 young grandsons..Jordan and Elliot. Me proud? You betcha..it truly is the best thing about growing older. On my own now and enjoying all that I can cram into my life. I love music.. am a life long member of The Friends of Jose Carreras..poetry and music are my loves.I am a technaphobe..so bear with me while I figure this all out.

My contest has just opened , but already I have 3 poems that are not "Enclosed Rhyme"..they are VERY nice poems, but dont fit the requirements. I think they could easily be fixed...SO..PLEASE CHECK AND SEE IF YOU GOOFED..I DON'T WANT TO HAVE TO GIVE ANYONE A PASS...

Some folks are confused by the term "enclosed rhyme," Barbara. One member told me they though it meant rhyme within a single line and that was my initial thought as well. Then I checked the enclosed rhyme form definition here on the Soup and learned it was a quatrain with ABBA rhyme scheme. I've read some entries that appear to be done properly. oh, boy, Barbara, just like what John Heck was saying in HIS blog. And to Linda below here: I always give examples and I know many contest sponsors do that too, but often it does not help all that much. Always we can expect at least a few people to not follow all the rules. I know we all mess up once in a while, but I truly do not understand why it happens so often in the contests. BG I usually post an EXAMPLE poem for my contests.. it helps the poets see what I am looking for.. maybe u could do that for your contest luv..

It's kind of you to offer this reminder, Barbara. I haven't seen your contest yet, but hope to find some time to enter. Enclosed rhyme may be difficult for some of us, but I'm sure you'll get some terrific entries that meet the requirements. Love, Carolyn
