I know many of you know of Jack, everyday he puts on a few limericks and some serious ones as well. He's getting on now( nearly 83) and as we get older we become limited in what we can do (we'll all get there someday) anyway he's thinking of hanging up his keyboard which is sad. So the purpose of this blog is let's give a bit of support to a fellow souper in his twilight years. Have a great weekend all. Tom.

Part time works for me! As for salary, hmmm, I have some choice words I can give him -.- Seriously though, I'm tickled pink! But don't tell him because I have a feeling that will turn into a limerick that I won't be able to read in front of my children. And there grown lol! Thank you so much Tom :*

Good news FJ , I wasn't having it and raised awareness, jacks a dear old soul and thankfully he has decided to stay but on a reduced attendance. Now we have to sort out his enhanced salary lol.

Jack, I write with no pretense. Some of your limericks served as a great inspiration for my exploration of this genre, which I truly enjoy. In fact, the last few of my limericks started with Jack, which I started taking note from you. Your limericks did bring a chuckle to me as equally did you comments and interaction with the readers. There are a few faces a person will remember from here, yours is definitely one, as is your twins (Horn?) that treat us with a daily litany of humor. Thank you. And thank Tom for bringing this to the communities attention. Best wishes.

You still have a lot to say, I often think "nobody cares," and then someone will prove me wrong. Keep your brain at work for your own sake. Better than a crossword puzzle. I know that's true - I'm older than you.

I couldn't agree more Sunlite. Age shouldn't come into the equation.

Indeed, we tend to forget as time passes that behind every avatar on the Soup is a human being with all of the frailties and vulnerabilities that father time throws at us. Send Jack a bit of love, everyone, we all know where the ' x' is on the keyboard :)

I truly dont understand whats going on today on soup, the powers to be, tells us there are thousands signing up. I also see the lists, yet periodically, i check the new poems list, and it is not unusual to see poems dropping off the bottom with only single figure views, also some of the top poets, get nothing like it once was...Why? i asked, are figure fabricated to attract advertisers?? or what?

JAN ALLISON Date: 5/5/2018 6:20:00 PM How interesting you've made that comment Harry. I've gone back to one of my pages of poetry from end 2015/start of 2016 nearly half the poems have over 1000 reads, yet its dropped off quite dramatically since then, I try to be as active as I can on the site so it would be interesting to know what has changed!

Tom, that is sad news for sure, I did visit Jack's last poem and left a comment, I have some poems myself with no comments, so I know how he feels ~

Tom, in the beginning when I joined there was lots and lots of commenting but it has dwindled down over the years for me anyways, but I admit that I do not comment as much either, life is always pulling me away, and I suppose that is a good thing, but my poetry soup suffers, perhaps there are many like me. Also commenting does depend on the time of day you post I am starting to think, for example if I post in the middle of the night which I sometimes do, I will get few comments, perhaps none, because my poem falls off the list by the next day, I think that is the reason . . anyways I write for me

Hopefully he'll reconsider BW, I dont know how things were before as I'm new on here. I do try and leave comments here and there but as you say time can be an issue sometimes but when you dont get any it must be a bit daunting and you think why bother. If everyone left at least one comment on someone's they don't normally comment on then things might improve. It does say to comment on others work to encourage others especially newcomers'. Tom

How true Keith, when we get to a certain age in the west, shove them in a care home seems to be the norm. But eastern cultures look after them at home until the end. Sad how things turn out.
