JACK ELLISON

Blog Posted by Tom Cunningham: 6/7/2021 5:27:00 AM

Due to health issues Jack Ellison is calling it a day here on soup. He's been on soup for ten years now entertaining us with his sometimes bizarre limericks but he has written many serious poems too. I'll be sorry to see him go and I wish him well. He's just posted what looks like his final poem. Called THE TIME HAS COME. Tom.

Think it's about time to call it a day
Brain doesn't function in the same old way
Effect of my seizures
Good wishes my readers
It's been a magical ten years, so farewell I say

Tom I see this old blog you did on Jack in 2021 he came back and was able to continue another four years and now I think it is finalized. You were so gracious to let us know back then. I did not see this blog, it must have been when I was out. But four years later you sound the warning bell again. Thank you Tom for sharing your heart is a special one to care for your fellow man. God bless you my friend...

Thank you all for the lovely comments you've left for Jack. It's always a shame when we lose one of our soup family. Tom

Tom, it is very gracious of you to honor Jack. And Jack, what a classy way to depart the soup family. Your limericks and legacy will be long remembered. You will be remembered especially as The Master of Limericks. God Bless. Bob H

Tom, thanks for posting this blog entry. I have enjoyed Jack Ellison's grand sense of humor and his limericks ever since coming to Poetry Soup. I will greatly miss him, and I wish him the very best in the coming days, months, years. I hope he will come back, at least occasionally, and bless us with his good humor!

It feels like the end of an era. Jack, I wish you all the best. You're going out with a bang with last poem as POTD! I hope you show up here from time to time.

I feel sad for him. It's awful to feel this way and have the joy gone so you can't even feel like being at soup. I too wish you all the best, jack.

Best wishes to Jack-- There once a poet named Jack~ For 10 years he emptied his sack~ Each day an eager nick knack~ Each day's flower rose from the black~ He wrote limericks without flack~ His footsteps eager those to track~ Jack's humor never one to lack~ For he milled his words without slack~ His final crossing, now, takes us aback~ For in sadness it's time for him to pack~ Them were good years that we wish to have back~Ty Jack
