We are watching the series on Mars by National Geographic. As we sit here in the comfort of our warm home, I'm so glad there are a community of people who are not afraid to dream. I can remember being so impressed with the landing of Neil Armstrong on the moon. Now we are dreaming of intergalactic space travel. It makes me sad to think that I probably won't be here to see it ( well may be-- in 2033, I'd be about 90)
It blows my mind to think what life will be like for my grands. But then I remember that my mom didn't have a phone or a car and certainly not a computer growing up. I remember that she always said that if she'd known that computers were here to stay that she would have learned how to use it.
The common denominator among generations then is not the technology but the heart and brains and ingenuity and imagination. As poets, we know the power of imagination.
If you haven't seen the movie Arrival, I'd recommend it. Good science fiction. Reading the story on which it's based.
