We are back on the CA coast. What joy! The sky this morning was shades of pink and gray and white and blue. And the light would inspire any of the impressionist painters to greater creativity. It's glorious despite all the rain we have had the last couple of days. Unfortunately, I haven't had a chance to walk along the coastal trail. Perhaps today...
My middle daughter's family visited Sunday afternoon. She looks so good. Many of the lines etched by pain are gone and there is a light in her face. There is happiness at being able to do some of the things she loves. It was a simple afternoon filled with simple pleasures but the value was far from simple. Don't get me wrong. She is not cured and she will probably need to rest 48 hours to compensate for that day but it's progress. She is on a Specific Carbohydrate Diet to aid digestion. It's different from the low carb diet that my husband and I are following. Into the mix I must add my granddaughter's slight addiction to sugar in the form of candy, or pie or cake or ice cream or most importantly oreo cookies. So cooking is goiong to be a challenge but one that we will meet somehow. Hopefully, I can do it with good humor and patience and much planning. Shopping is not easy. It's 45 minutes to the preferred grocery stores. The local grocer is called, Cookie Crock. Isn't that a romantic name? The people are friendly. It's the only store I know where the clerks will still carry your groceries to the car. Do you remember when that courtesty was not unusual but a normal part of service?
I'm sitting in a huge easy chair - about twice the size of my chair at home - with a raised leg rest and I have my computer on my latp. I face a row of windows that look over green hills, a huge pine and a snatch of the ocean in the distance. My imagination fills in the ocean view that I can't see. I hope that I'll be able to write many mornings from here. I have difficult choices -- to write or to walk in the open air. Ah well, life is hard but somehow i'll manage to cope... Thanks for your visit...
