I am very discouraged and troubled at this moment.

PoetrySoup should be like a family, because I truely feel like we are one. It's such a blessing to be able to come here and do the things we love, i.e writing poetry, reading poetry, and discovering new ways of looking at the world. I've learned alot from many of you, and I cherish that. And then comes the differing opinions but it is expected when such a diverse group of artists come together. It's okay. We learn from each other.

Now, on a more specific subject, the blatant disregard for emotions is offending. Calling someone names is completely juvenile and only seen on playgrounds. I have seen better behavior inside monkey cages. The most offending thing one could call a poet is illiterate. That word in itself is obliterating the ability to practice the craft we hold so dear. To call one a loser is inflating negative self-esteem. It is in fact, considered ill manners to call someone an illiterate loser.  I'm not a stickler for rules but the policy here (Mark, you should be proud) is that we do not have personal attacks. Here on the site or even on a personal level through other forms of communication. Playing vigilante only shows people how much of a fool you are when the cause is less then you make it to be. Mr. Doria was only stating his ideas about certain forms of poetry, and we all have our own ideas about that.

Joe, mi amigo:

Please do not let someone influence your ideas, or even their most hateful remarks make you depart from this site. Remember the hypocrisy of those words spoken in such an ill manner. Hasty actions does not explunge hate, strong will does.
