Now on to judge my "Poems to Keep You Awake at Night" contest. I got 55 entries, more than any other contest I have sponsored. You guys are a bunch of sick people! 

Anyway, I'm going to be tough this time. There were only a few people who really got the concept I was trying to communicate. There were also some poems that fit the criteria, but fell outside Poetry Soup guidelines, in my opinion. I'll discuss some of these as well when I post the results. In addition, there were some that were pretty much straight prose, which I excluded as well.

I took a look at your vacation pictures, Roy......oh, I'm so envious of your trip to Japan! And it was great seeing your lovely wife too. I can see what a wonderful time it must have been. Welcome back, and good luck judging!!

Welcome back. When I wrote my poem, I actually considered if it falls within the halls of "Hateful Expressions," but then wouldn't Daddy by Plath fall there, too? Or if someone wrote about the holocaust from a personal perspective, delving into the horrors there, how could that be portrayed as not "hateful?" I think it comes down to intention, what is the poem's intent, to show the hurt of hate or to instill hate in others? No matter how you see my poem, I still wanted to thank you for inspiring it. If one Canadian reads it, writes a letter, tells others, becomes aware, then I am happy. JUST ONE :D No harm, no foul ... and the thank you is genuine. Wouldn't want to judge this! Brrrr...

Judging can be hard BUT I would suggest Prose Poetry is a category here on Soup and in the general public, Prose poetry is written in paragraphs not stanzas hopefully you can see the poetry in the Prose and accept it as such?

Yep, but I excluded prose in the rules. In any case, if the language is poetic prose, OK. If it's prosaic prose, no. I can't define it, but I know it when I see it.
