Pi Day 2015

On March 14, we celebrate Pi Day in the U.S, kind of a nerd celebration. I say in the U.S because it only really works for us (and Belize) because of a date format we use (MM.DD.YY) hence 3.14 (March 14) is Pi Day. This year is special. 2015 has been called the Pi Day of the century because  on March 14, 2015 at 26 minutes and 53 seconds after 9 AM the date and time will be 3.14.15 9:26:53 or π to 10 digits, 3.141592653. 

Here's an ode to Pi Day. I actually wrote it for the Plethora of Pies contest last fall, where it took a whopping HM.

There are actually 35 "pi" sounds embedded in the poem. Can you find them all?

you sure had fun with your Pi's here. Friday at our meeting at school, the woman who loves math at our little school had us all bring breakfast food to celebrate this day. I did not see one pie though!

Great blog - I got a 15th for my pie poem lol - I only thought the placings went up to 10 lol - wish they had some different system HM seems to be order of the day with many contests and sadly i think this will deter people from entering:-( Hugs jan xx

Cute blog..I am not a math person but understand that pie is round and not square?..I liked all the pi's within the poem..Way to go..Sara
