What's the big deal
Why do we always have to be serious
Or well adjusted and stuff like that
That's no freaking fun
Why can't we run amok through the streets naked
Tossing flowers to bystanders
Bizarre as that may seem
Life is to be lived to the fullest and enjoyed
The kookier the outlook, the better
If you delve deep enough
You can find humour in almost every situation
However, you must be predisposed to it
To recognize it
In other words, you must be a bit twisted
My motto... “Why be serious!”
Ain't nothing wrong with being twisted
Every family has them
These unsettling times these misunderstandings
Times when many things come into play
In most cases these wee spats are soon over and forgotten
But sometimes differences run deeper
Because of other factors
Such as jealousy, middle child syndrome personality
It's only human nature at play
The necessity for all to find our place
In the overall scheme of life
To establish one's self in the pecking order
And accepting it without malice, without jealousy
A hard lesson to learn when we're brand new at he game
Always suspecting that siblings
Are the ones receiving preferential treatment
In reality, they are reacting in exactly the same matter
Trying their best to learn the ropes
To understand what life means what life is all about
But we never do have all the answers
Even if we survive those uncertain early years
And live to the ripe old age of thirty
Well that is what old age is when you're a teenager
Please be assured, you WILL get through
And be a well adjusted adult

Person Non-Grata
Call me old-fashioned,
but I’m glad my mother was a woman.
I’m glad about a lot of things actually,
the little things in life
like a stable marriage, well adjusted children
a good education and something tenuous
yet pervasive enough to take for granted;
the Rule of Law.
So many things to be grateful for
(as I write this on a laptop, in a warm, well lit
comfortably secure home).
And yet, the reality is
if I say these things
all but a few frown, or nervously look away
wondering who might overhear
the heretic ranting on his soap-box
tainting by association
all the pleasures of a modern life
better left taken for granted
and appreciated in private
as the world continues to turn
looking for the next
person non-grata to burn.

Precious treasury
Unimagenable strength
Held no length
Bravery
Our cavalry
Jesus Christ
Saved our lives
God's chosen
Has spoken
Showing us our true course
God is our force
Glorious Heavenly Father above
Untainted and loved
Removed from darkness
Replaced with love and kindness
Come together in faith
As our Lord's people were made to help us save
All will be witnesses
I AM, attending to my Father's business
God's will shall be done
Taught as one
May God's people remain humble
Lead as a good example
Above all
Father's love now conquers all
Well-adjusted
Trusted
Opened our doors
Like never before
Led
By our Father's bread
Creator's lineage
God's image
Giver of truth
Was given in our youth
Servant now friends
We can no longer pretend
Gave my family entry
Whispered, I love thee
Yesterday my world came crashing down
And life seemed to be a mess
I sat and wondered why me
And yesterday I cried.
I always smile with all my friends
And everyone thinks I’m happy
They’ve never seen me shed a tear
But yesterday I cried.
My family thinks I’m well adjusted
My friends think I’m well put together
But yesterday everything fell apart
And yesterday I cried.
Today everyone found out my secret
I’m not as strong as I seem
Because yesterday I died
And today, everyone else cried.
I am fine-tuned, well-adjusted, I hope
Not an alcoholic and I don't use dope
My affairs are completely in order
I wasn't caught illegally at the border
I am a bona fide, pure-bred American
Doing everyday the best that I can
I keep my goals clearly in sight
Frankly, I sleep rather well at night
I am not one to cause anybody trouble
If I am needed I will come on the double
I believe in live and let live
When there's a need I'm ready to give
So, cut me some slack with your criticisms
Go back and refigure your algorithms.

EXPERIMENT WITH BOILING WATER
Let your dubious interest in science not diminish;
Just watch the water-boil process from start to finish.
Gas flame is lit and well-adjusted:
As a scientist you're hot as mustard.
See the condensation on glass above water level ?
Soon you’ll have covered base of glass kettle
With the small bubbles of trapped steam you distended.
They became lines of moving bubbles and ascended
Like watery snakes looking for their surface goal
And hissing as they failed to find it in shoals.
Now they’ll rise ever more frequently, ever faster -
The rate is chosen by the experiment master.
The slight hisses become rumbles
Kettle rattle loudens as your gas flame tumbles.
Space above water level fills with steam -
The boiling makes scientist-eyes gleam.
A whistle treble starts to tremble
Then, gaining courage, it will soon resemble
The olden-days police summons pitch
Of ultra-high G or A-sharp, very rich.
I should stop now before I have trouble with the law
Of physics – for the water boiled away as we saw:
And the kettle dried out.
The experiment was over, we had left no doubt.

And live to the ripe old age of thirty...
Well that is what old age is when you're a teenager
Please be assured, you WILL get through
And be a well adjusted adult
Eggs, eggs, eggs, my favourite of all foods
Any way you serve em, I'm always in the mood
Haven't tried any others
From chickens have my druthers
It's the well-adjusted ones to which I allude
It was a Wednesday;
a day woven
into prison blankets and dish towels.
A day to assess hours unnoticed.
A time of trivial hungers.
The hard heft of earlier times: -
not fitting into anything,
teenage fluff and huff. Heartbreak,
rearing and loss. The fallow traipse of age.
The clinical clunk of clay feet.
Making room in a grave-yard moon,
for faces mislaid.
Those hard rows were all well hoed.
Washing a closed face in a misty mirror.
Listening to the coffee percolator.
trying to shave before its last burble,
ears catching the dark drops of a winter rain,
he creeps again too close
to a hole in his mind.
He should not be doing this still,
but the hole keeps tugging him.
He must keep throwing raw meat
into that roaring silence.
The hole is deep, and the end of it, is no end.
He wishes he could at least,
install an elevator.
for his ghosts to ride up and down on.
It would give him time
to drink more coffee, and write
some polite, well-adjusted poetry.
You'll always want
What you don't got
Most the things you get
Aint as important
As you thought
Once you get them
Is when they start
Losing value
Got you on the hunt
For something brand new
& it doesnt stop
You could have a fortune
And still be miserable
It's impossible to fill a hole
From outside sources
There's certain things
That are only gained internally
All that Purchasing & searching be
A waste of time
Up Until you learn to be
Content and find your happyness
From you and you alone
The results
Will always be discouraging
& I aint speaking from experience
Personally that sounds like
Allota work to me
I'd propabably need a therapist
When your moneys funny
It's far from being halarious
But there are people out there
That just wouldnt care & s***
They'd be happy
Just sitting there with nothing
Dang I wish I was that well adjusted
You leave me sittin around
With nobody and nothing
For too long,
I'm gonna be putting on
A large production
Going on & on & on waiting for someone
Or something to To interrupt it
Eggs, eggs, eggs, my favorite of all foods
Any way you serve em, I'm always in the mood
Haven't tried any others
But from chickens have my druthers
Especially the well-adjusted ones to which I allude
Eggs, eggs, eggs, my most favorite of all foods
Any way you serve em, I'm forever in the mood
Haven't tried any others
But from chickens have my druthers
Especially the well-adjusted ones to which I allude
Eggs eggs eggs, my ultimate most favorite food
Any way you serve em, I'm forever in the mood
Haven't tried any others
But from chickens having my druthers
Especially the well-adjusted ones to which I allude
