Wakeful Poems | Examples

Bottomless bottles of bile, in my wake

In my wake, if i were to awaken,
O' wakeful wonder to wrench mine withered eyes
Aware'f the withering summer haze
Out in my bright eyed future, out in my cross toe'd path
Pompous poppies t'prop mine withering body
Lest f'saken soil shall chance this chance and enwrap thy very soul
Whole, wholly in unholy disrepair
Where thy feet ne'er make a pair

In my wake, where bottomless bile surely shalln't sate,
Grace be with grace whereth fate form'd nigh near'r thy hate
voracious, inherent, timbered'n barrels
Embedded beneath thy bedded tomb t'ferment
Fraught feminal petticoats bed thy bones'n skin, t'sit within
Barrelled quarrels quashed'n quaint fricatives,
T'lace these afaced wicked motives.
Foot befitting feet b'fore foolish faces reverberate foolish vows
F'petty petticoats liven' lieu'f laced love.

In my latent wake,
Tend t'the petty posies
T'prop mine body
Towards th'lascerating ladle'f love,
And into th'deepening dish'f self-hate.

Premium MemberThrill of Late Summer

his lips slipped upon mine; into dreaming
in the satellite of fall's chaste shadows
sphered by the last cast of summer streaming
onto our free skin, sunk in the shallows
our first kisses, our first mature outlet
for a latent love now bursts in our ears
from seeds sown in spring's bosom, mere trinket
our little love, hedging, a nest appears
underneath the wakeful sun, its pure heat
receding; displaced by the chatoyance
of autumnal leaves waltzing where we'll meet
singing, unfazed, at the cold's arrogance

African Night

Mother of stars,
friend of the moon,
it is often quiet but for its own heartbeat?
the rhythmic sentence pronounced
in one benign-hammering syllable,
which pounds away hostile darkness
laid bare by the wakeful heavens
whose ears listen to tales from
old folks passed on to a glowing age,
and proverbs that leave one and all in awe.

Another
Restlessly
Wakeful night

Thoughts keep on
Dusk till dawn
Sleep walking

Close my eyes
One more try
Oo, popcorn!

Lights that glow darkly

I have been deceived all this while,
By all the angels cloaked in a dear disguise.
'Follow the way of light, my child, ' they all cooed,
For they knew too well I was never shrewd.

Off I went, probing for those lights,
Something to put an end to my wakeful nights.
But manipulation, oh my dear,
Sounds sweeter when it is feared.

I never found those lights, I never did indeed,
In the cruel footpaths of naivety and those angels' deeds.
All I ever found was a world so shadowy,
Lit up with lights that glow darkly.

Dream Rider

I know you’re there, just out of sight,
There among the black far-reaches
Like a rider of dreams in the night
Searching for reason that impeaches.

You have left behind no traces
Of where you’ve gone or maybe sent.
Your journey seeks familiar faces
Yet posed in unfamiliar bent.

And reasons, they are vaguely veiled
While cognizance won’t clarify.
And rationale is un-detailed
While reaching does but rarify.

Oh, where does purpose hide its grail,
There in the crevice of a mind -
For wont of quests that do not fail
In hopes of dreams that are not blind?

I call you not, you’re back unpacked,
A door of no return passed through -
Rejoined with logic’s wakeful tact
And much to share betwixt the two.

beneath forgotten stars

Beneath Forgotten Stars

In wakeful hours, I drink my thoughts,
Letting mind and heart entwine in fraught
Reflections of forgotten dreams,
And roads that vanished with the streams.

Regrets envelop me like a warm blanket,
Comforting yet suffocating,
 a heavy burden to bear.
Memories of what could have been,
Haunt me still, like whispers in the wind.

What if I hadn’t let go of those dreams?
What if I dared to traverse the narrow seams?
Would the outcome be different today?
Or would the path have led astray?

The weight of what-ifs presses down,
A relentless tide that ebbs and flows.
In the stillness of the night,
I confront the ghost of choices past

We slip into the cradle of night's arms,
Beyond our weary, wakeful selves, we go.
Where hopes take flight untouched by worldly harms,
And whispered wants, like drifting petals, flow.

Beneath a veil of stars and moonlit beams,
We cross to foreign lands of our design,
A portal to a world beyond our dreams,
Where truths and aspirations intertwine.

And when we wake to walk through daylight's door,
The secrets of the stars, we're meant to keep.
Unfiltered are the thoughts our dreams explore;
For minds cannot be closed when they're asleep.

May we be armed with wisdom of the night,
And dare to seek a world beyond our sight.

Premium MemberGod, Tell Me Why

God,
One day, will you tell my why
little babies have to die?
Children starve while mothers cry
Deadly bombs drop from the sky
God, tell me. Tell me why.

God,
Feel the ground about to shake
People buried in the quake
Rescue missions are at stake
Hearts you made weren't meant to break
God, tell me. Tell me why.

God,
One day will you please explain
Primal screams all laced with pain
Healthy minds now gone insane
Slashed wrists causing crimson stain
God, tell me. Tell me why.

God,
Do You see this genocide?
Children have no place to hide
Sniped and slautered, rights denied
Bodies burned, the wounds split wide
God, tell me. Tell me why.

God,
Families are torn apart
by aggressors with no heart
"Torture, maim, erase from chart
anyone who won't depart!"
God, tell me. Tell me why.

God,
Hurting souls cry out to You
Vengence waits, I know it's true
Now, Lord, now...what can we do
as our hearts are torn in two?
God, please tell me.

God,
Seared in conscience are the dead
Lying here upon my bed
Why them and not me instead?
Wakeful thoughts are filled with dread
God, is heaven up ahead?

God, please....tell me.

Premium MemberSunrise at the Dock

As twilight’s veil begins to gently lift,
The fading grays give way to golds and blues.
And colors mark the waves as shadows shift,
Reflective of a new horizon’s hues.

Yet gazes fixed on distant unseen springs,
Omit the moment’s splendor cast aside.
While thoughts are lost on what tomorrow brings,
The fleeting now is taken by the tide.

But wakeful are the winds that blow from night,
Just as the sun extends its arms of gold.
Embrace the gift of this day’s morning light,
For it alone escapes tomorrow’s hold.

Surrender not one moment to the clock;
And catch the coming sunrise at the dock.

"Nature’s sermon laced with bouquet lusciousness of colors and fragrance unfolds spiritual inspiration." Quote by poet

Lingering lazy moon
A luster on the eve of June
Plays a peace-making tune
As butterfly wings soon
Emerge from its cocoon.

Yellow bumblebees prefer to dine
And promenade upon fine
Yellow black-eyed Susan vine.
Zigzagging playfully always align
Sweet flora ambrosia most divine.

Wakeful dawn first breath light
Fluttering bird’s wings flight
Under breaking clouds height.
Good-bye! Good-bye out of sight
Natures harmony and rhythm plight.

Nothing Remains

Chaotic romance.
Fearful dreams of war.
Lost in the river.
Wakeful spirit.
Chaotic storms.
Heavy snow falls.
Fate or chance?

Caerdydd

I first locked eyes on her in those salad days,
When my eyes was packed of ignorant bliss,
Some summer days felt like paradise
whilst others were stuffed with abeyance.

When I gaze into the heart,
What I find is towers of gravity,
Keeping up the world.
The wakeful castle looks upon me
wondering if I am worthy.
Now you suffer like a ant.

Around me I am surrounded,
By all faces of old and young,
Bodies from Aberthin to Attock.
Teeming of everyone all around.
Yet you see the floor is full of angler fish.

Out on the dancing floor,
moving my head to the beat,
Fun and free with no responsibility.
Then you wake up hungover
And realise it was merely a dream.

The sweetness of doing nothing in a day
On umber earth and mid birds singing in spring.

Spending leisure time in a suspended
Bed hung up by each end between two trees.

We sit gazing at the heavens in the clear night sky,
A theater of dancing stars flitting with the moon.

Hymn lull of tickling leaves as the breeze blows
Through; its slender tendrils raking through.

Soft glow; against the wakeful night darkness
As the moon dappled light pirouette on our face.

"Limbs undresses as their garments lace the ground." Quote by poet

October scarlet and gold stillness drawn
kindle in treetops and lace on the lawn.

Butterflies flutter amid garden's plants
and fruit grown fall, flowing foraging ants.

Under tree's umbra playful leaves are blown,
nymph in a world of magic, others shown.

It's so perfect, calm, and tranquil haven;
even for wakeful wide-winged black raven.

Ignited colors bring this October
orchid sky turns distant wan and sober.
