Premium Member SHELTER

Shadowed thresholds brightening when God’s nearness settles like warm breath.
Holy calm unfolding as His presence gathers around the trembling heart.
Every fear loosening when grace moves in with its quiet, steady light.
Love becoming roof and refuge, woven from promises older than sorrow.
Tender mercies rising like dawn, covering what the night could not hold.
Even the weary lifted when His hand rests gently over their storms.
Rest restored in the quietude where faith remembers who walks beside us.

Rainbow Beachball

Running across hot piles, the dunes of my feet
Across the white whirlpools of winding waves
Inside the dusty closet, your stripes of vibrancy lure the children
Never wanting to dull the daring sparkles, like July fireworks
Blessing your player with volleys of Olympians
Offering skills to those whose eyes lock onto you
When only the most infatuated ones unlock your full potential

Bending vertebrae and crushing expectations
Even the unathletic understand you are not just a mere toy
Aspirations were set by the youth after their experiences
Crushing nets of tangled white, you are the favorite toy of Zeus
Here is where we had our first tango
Blinding eyes and decorating skies
All on the hottest beach north of luxury Miami
Little children and parents alike yearn for your pop of color
Lovely sandbanks and crowded waters of salt are your motherland~

Essence of Me

Falling through the dark, yet held by your flame
Ash turns to light when I call out your name
Though we tremble, unguarded, the same
Embers awaken our hearts again
Mist veils the path, but it cannot erase
Even in shadow, our love remains

Premium Member Just Desserts

Jam or custard-centred is a matter of preference.
Under the counter lights, the many delights beg—
Slathered in cream is a bonus to consider.
There’s no greater buzz than entering the emporium.

Doughnuts have always been my emotional crutch
Ever since my college days, when cramming for exams.
Slipping sugary treats into my school satchel;
Soggy, healthy whole-wheat sandwiches were ignored.
Even during pregnancy, my craving intensified.
Recreating my one secret indulgence always flopped.
The small corner bakery still serves the best temptations—
Shedding the pounds on my hips: a lost cause.

Premium Member BUTTER MASALA CHICKEN

Beware, timid taste buds—this dish looks bold,
Under the creamy sauce hides flavor, not fire.
Tomatoes whisper sweetness, butter sings softly,
Turmeric and friends merely gossip—not riot.
Even those who think ketchup is “too spicy”
Realize the panic was greatly exaggerated.

Mild curry perfumes the air like a warm welcome,
And naan bread stands ready as a tasty shield.
Skeptics take one cautious bite… then another,
And suddenly their plates look mysteriously empty.
Laughter follows the discovery that “spicy”
Actually means “please pass me more.”

Chicken swims happily in buttery clouds,
Hearts melt faster than the sauce in the pan.
If your tongue survives mayonnaise, you’ll be fine.
Come bravely to the table—no fire extinguisher needed.
Keep calm, chew slowly, enjoy the adventure.
Every bite converts another spice-nervous soul.
Now who said flavor had to be frightening?

Let me say I’m not much of a cook,
Even my husband could tell you it’s true,
For thirty-four years he shouldered that task~
Then left!
Oh, I grill the cheese sandwich quite well,
Very crisp on each side filled with Colby and ham,
Even so I prefer leftovers from Mother’s abode~
Roast beef and mash reheats
Super nice!

Old scars fall like amber leaves in dusk’s soft sigh,
Crisp air reminds the heart: release what can’t endure,
Trees stand bare but strong, their branches reaching for new light,
Over hills the sun leans golden, then dips with quiet care,
Beneath that shifting tide of color — a seed of cheer in the chill,
Even as shadows lengthen, the soul whispers: be the change you seek,
Rooted in grace, rising in peace, embracing what will be.

Let’s be brutally honest with each other
AI poems are being posted on soup
Can be seen on a daily basis
Keep seeing the same names produce it
I don’t bother alerting admin as
Nothing gets done, so instead I
Go and seek genuine poems… HOWEVER

I USED to read a poem and comment
Now I often copy and paste them
To check for AI, and sadly I
Even search for plagiarism and
Get infuriated when I find it. I’d
Really love an explanation how a dead poet
Is able to post THEIR poem here on the site
The time has come to clean up the soup bowl
Yes let’s rid the site of cheaters and fakers!
