Whatta strange breed we humans are
Never satisfied, must upset the apple cart
Can't we all get along
Just sing happy songs
Biologically we possess the same loving heart

Premium Member When I Upset the Applecart

They rolled along the dirty road,
With apples fresh among the load.
They stopped a mile from the mart,
As I upset the apple cart,

I stood in front as if to stop,
Causing all the fruit to drop,
Telling where the road had led,
And warned of dangers up ahead.

Told my time of being there,
Coming back all worse for wear.
Be it known, I planned in part,
To NOT upset the apple cart.

These things they didn’t NEED to know,
I felt it was my duty though.
I don’t mind to take the blame,
If things for them don’t end the same.

Thanking me for being nice,
Exchanged an apple for advice,
A different road they did depart,
When I upset the apple cart.

The Synchronized Dumbing Down of America

Sit back, relax
Everything will be fine
Enjoy what you see on T.V.
Forget the daily grind

We're here so you'll feel better
Make it all alright
Use the slightest bit of truth
We do it all the time

No need to concern yourself
With the government's affairs
What you don't know want hurt you
If your left unaware

We'll tell you who it is you are
And what it is that you should think
Don't pay attention to the other guy
He ain't like you and me

What he says is mumbo jumbo
Not like the elite that are in the know
He'll upset the apple cart
If you let him take control

So hold on tightly to your chains
You're in for the ride of your life
Who's going to pay for this loony trip
It'll come out of your hide

There's no need to concern yourself
With the government's affairs
What you don't know want hurt you
If your left unaware...

#Hashtag

Did your seriously just hashtag a hashtag
Is something like that even allowed
People will be tripping over themselves
You really know how to rile up a crowd

Your bringing all that is known to the tipping point
What's left of what's sane to the brink
Turning civilization onto its head
Before you tried this stunt, did you stop to think

That you would be creating a mob of angry villagers
Digging out their pitchforks and their torches
Stirring the posse into a frenzy
Before they've even mounted the horses

Or that this fiasco would upset the apple cart
Spilling its contents all over the floor
Cause an epidemic of heebie jeebies
Perhaps even the war of all wars

I'm not sure when you hashtaged the hashtag
You were aware of what it might do
Is it to late to take it all back
Otherwise I believe we're all screwed

How Do I Know You'Re a Poet

How do I know you're a poet
By the very words you sow
From the highest high of all the highs
To the deepest depths below
The way you pour out your heart
In every syllable as they flow
That is how I know you hold to
The poet in your soul

How do I know you're a poet
Because you take the simple facts
That life's ups and downs have thrown your way
By the way you throw them back
The way you upset the apple cart
With the words that you display
How do I know you're a poet
Your soul it does betray

How do I know you're a poet
By the way it is I'm moved
From the first line to the end of time
In the words that you let loose
No need to really ask
How it is I know
Everything I read and see
Points to the poet in your soul

Apples and Oranges

Peewee Orange upset the apple cart
For Mr. Adam who had a apple mart
                                     So they hacked each other
                                   And packed up Queen Mother
Who got the pip and ate the apple tart

                                                  óóóóó

Local Newspaper Caper

To local newspaper will not subscribe again
Now no longer put any of my new poems in
Which people in past loved reading greatly
But in paper are not there as of lately.

To me. people are singing the same old song;
This time what again have you done wrong
Are they afraid you will upset the apple cart?
Don't they have sense of humor or any heart?

Just as I expected and do fervently fear
They never will give my poems a good cheer
It is a case of something which will sicken
On themselves, they all are awe-stricken.

So what do you think?

This Old Man

This old man he was nothing special you say
That very well maybe be you see
Cause he never did set any records for anybody to read about
I don't think he even started any arguments or fights
If you ask no one knows anything at all about this old man
Just me you see he was after all my dad
He work hard for my brothers and me
Down at the mill from seven till' three
Mama packed his lunch everyday same two sandwich
Twenty two years one ham and the other peanut-butter/jelly he never
complained she was gonna fix it the same day in day out
Because my dad knew not to upset "the apple cart"
He was a soft spoken hard worked man who live by the bible and raised his family to live off the land
He worked in the mill all day and he farmed late most late every night
When sent his children to school and then on to college he saw we were all taken care of right
It was alright when god call him home for a job done right
Now I want say that I won't miss him a lot
But my daddy said if you cry
When I die
I will haunt you so don't cry
So I try

Don'T

DOn't bite the hand that feeds you
Don't burn your bridge behind you
Don't cast your pearls before swine
Don't change horses in midstream
Don't count your chickens before they are hatched.
Don't cross the bridge till you to it
Don't cut off your nose to spite your face.
Don't keep a dog and bite your self
Don't let the bastards grind you down
Don't look a gift horse in the mouth
Don't wash your dirty linen in public
Familiarity breeds comptempt
Feed a cold and starve a fever.
Don't upset the apple cart.
Don"t try to walk before you crawl
Don"t teach grandma to suck eggs
Don't throw the baby out with the birth water.
Don't spoil the ship for a ha'porth of tar
Don't rock the boat
Don't put the cart before the horse
Don't meet troubles half way.
Don't put new wine into an old bottle
There are more ways of killing a cat than choking it with cream
There are none so deaf as those that would not hear.

Premium Member Venom

Venom of the serpentines
Runs in one’s fleshly blood streams

Deficiency of the spleen
Or blame all on a bad dream

Poisons do twist the mind’s seams
Illusions of children’s dreams

Images always of schemes
Listen to the children’s dreams

Skip a rope, soap a poor dope
Morality runs down slope

How long must human hearts cope
On the world’s slippery slope

Don’t upset the apple cart
So say they are all for it

Stand they all say for something
While all fall for anything

Plead I take up your own reigns/reins
The venom run in one’s veins!
                                          Selah!
