The pot is melting...
The 'great melting pot'
This elaborately constructed pot holds a motley of colors and flavors
Once strong and pleasing to the eye, bustling with all of its aromatic juices, flavors, and textures
The great pot of RED, WHITE, and BLUE draws so many, and the few
Indigenous peoples and many others from great and small distances assimilate in this great pot
For a while, the cooking and eating were good, I mean pretty good
So good that still more ingredients desire to be added to this melting pot to bolster the flavor even more
But now, this great pot is disintegrating
Too hot now, is this pot
Too hot with deleterious elements that threaten the constitution of this great amalgamation
The pot is melting
The 'great melting pot'...
It is melting
CANADA RELATIONSHIP
LATELY HAS TAKEN A DIP
HOPEFULLY WILL FLIP
In honor of the 250th anniversary
of the Declaration of Independence
of the United States of America
-------///---\\\-------
In Philadelphia’s summer heat,
Colonies rose to break defeat.
An alien crown across the sea,
No longer ruled our destiny.
Despite the roar of distant hates,
They wrote the birth: United States.
Where rights are not a gift of kings,
But truth that every person brings.
"We hold these truths," document said,
Like thunder rolling overhead:
That life and freedom must belong
To every voice, however strong.
Through fear of war and breaking ties,
Beneath uncertain, watchful skies,
They signed their names in bold resolve,
To let a new world form and evolve.
And now, two hundred fifty years,
By triumphs, happiness and tears,
A shining hope for all to see,
United States — Forever Free.
-------///---\\\-------
In commemoration of America's upcoming birthday, I dedicate this Acrostic poem.
UNITY is foundational
NO kings
INDIVIDUAL rights
TYRANNY no more
EQUALITY of access for all
DOMESTIC tranquility
SLAVERY was acrosus
TAXATION with representation
ASSEMBLY for redress of grievances
TRAIL of tears
EVERY legal vote must be counted
STATUTORY government
OPPORTUNITY for all citizens
FAILURE is not an option
ASSSIMULATION, not separation
MAGNANAMOUS nation and people
ECONOMIC power house
RELIGIOUS freedom
IMAGINATION, dreams, and vision
COMPASSION for the poor and weak
ALL for one and one for all
Remember what sweet Jesus instructed,
to take care of the hungry.
Long lines of people with
hope,
stretched around the block,
feed them in Thanksgiving time.~
America, America; How can this be?
Where is our love? Where’s our dignity?
Look at us now, tell me, what do you see?
Well, from coast to coast; All I see is misery.
When we were young... so wild & free.
On top of the world for all to see!
We still struggled, still disagreed;
But I think we had alot more honesty.
We've made ourselves a labyrinth of laws;
Sewn with red tape and loaded with flaws
We have no morals, and so much deceit.
See all the thieves running rampant in our streets?
The system's worn. We all will agree;
There's pushers in our prisons and we let killers go free.
Our head's in the clouds!
Look! There's no laws online!
No wonder we stay on the phone all the time.
Let's make a comeback! Start a new fire!
So that we become what we admire!
Listen up people, it's our wake up call!
United we stand, individually we fall.
The Oval Office looks gaudy
And outshines the King of Saudi
Trump’s ugly deco
Gives off an echo
Of a bordello that’s bawdy
1849
King Kamehameha
of the Kingdom of Hawaii
entered into the Treaty of Friendship
with the United States
1893
businessmen and sugar planters
overthrew the monarchy by forced abdication
of Queen Lili'uokalani
and United States troops invaded
the Hawaiian Kingdom
The Restoration Agreement
was never implemented
Business as usual!
A major street along the country
A place minds are calmed,
Listening to Holy word
And words of wisdom into heart
A Holy place
created by Heavenly Father
To turn us into good
And away from evil
Aside from its indigenous natives
when those there United States
(home of the braves)
were first settled by white colonists and pioneers
it was advertised with a carrot
(not a torch)
held by copper-sheathed Lady Liberty
with book candle
(no bell)
française est elle
with the slogan 'Land of the Free'
propaganda of the day it's enough to make one sick
as today there's far less carrot and way too much more stick
haves and have nots will always be there
(the tired poor huddled wretched masses)
but we you and me can make a difference if we really care
Enter a new Aeon
When the USA expands
Beyond just one continent
Inviting people worldwide
To come together, make a choice
Join US! Manifest Destiny Aerth!
Free the Humans! Free the mind!
"Ask, and you shall receive” ...
All the benefits of the US Constitution
Become the next Star on our Flag
Listen, music from an Aeolian harp
Touches eardrums from around the world
A new Aesthetica for Man!
It’s time to take a stand, Citizen
What do you really believe in?
It’s freedom or bust!
Let’s not fail our fellow Aerthlings
Let’s not fail ourselves
Listen, music from an Aeolian harp
Touches eardrums from around the world
A new Aesthetica for Man!
Who'd convert our earth to a sty?
What narcissist fool loves to lie?
Thus the insane Trump
Will command a dump
Not U.S.A. but U.S.I.
they come down on you
with their silver badges
and rusted hearts,
nightstick morality,
a fist of laws so tight
you can hear my knuckles crack.
they'll jail the hungry,
the weak, the lost
while their own hands stink
of greed, of white cocaine powder trails,
nights twisted up in back rooms
with drinks and dirty deals.
they call it credit card justice,
where a fee is charged,
just to use it.
they call it order,
but it's a dark laugh
that sticks in your throat
and leaves you sick,
unable to clear it.
Writing poetic confessions is akin to visiting a Nudist state
Well, the concept sounds good, but all this exhibitionism --
The Naked performing unsteady cartwheels, their dangly bits --
Makes it seem like a bad idea.
Taking a break in the pleasant air
Look at how happy they are,
Dancing in a circle and jerking up and down, like children,
Praising one another for being authentic and emotional.
Allowing the clean aroma strike your nostrils
And you say to yourself, "damn, all this Nudity is attractive,"
While also recalling the how much fun you could have heard
If only you became a Nudist earlier.
Gathering, waiting
As dusk settles near,
Patiently anticipating
To watch and to hear
The first shooting spark
To utter a boom,
And fill up the dark
With a crackling bloom
Familiar faces angled
To get the best view,
Of a sky spangled
With red, white and blue
Joined by the fireflies
And their show of light,
'Til the last firework dies
On one July night.
