Hate is a feast for crows. Feast your eyes, instead, on love.
—by poet

Singsong of Spring

Caw of unseen crow and chorus
of potentially pretty wings.

Singsong may have interrupted
the murder - melody was sweet.

Tweeting torques communication;
hate fades with unflappable faith.

Premium MemberNellie is Miminy Piminy

She is so miminy-piminy she never gets mad
Nellie is too persnickety to ever act bad
We try to rile her, hoping to make her cry
Why? She asks us with concern, why cousin, why?

Because you are unflappable, too perfect I say
You make the rest of us look like slackers most of the day
Can’t you ever be mean, hit someone or sing a sad song?
You simply do not fit in with us rascals, you do not belong

Premium MemberAnywhere but here

I am empty of empathy
come sympathise with me
Cue the violins,
or just fiddle
like a bad-tempered Roman

Offer me hope:
bring flamboyant symbols,
cheap gold pendants with wings
Maybe a big gaudy
unflappable albatross
nothing too flash,
mind you!

Take my hand,
lead me towards the edge
it’s time to fledge
Sidle me onward,
watch as I waver

Try not be over-critical
of the albatross
He’s become a hanger-on,
too far gone
and addicted to flattery

If I drag you down
or appear inhumane,
it’s all secondary
I’m merely feeling depressed
by a pouch in my brain

A séance sensed
it was next of kin,
X-rays revealed tiny pleats,
masses of tissue within folds of skin
An exorcist said it’s
my vestigial twin
Google diagnosed
(Visual agnosia)
taking shape from within

Oh! And the indifferent
chatbot I confided in,
has begun self-harming!

gin joint ginger
I had heard of her of course
we all had

but we thought she was fictitious
when we saw the barkeep’s face we knew better

He is usually unflappable
tonight he could barely speak

she had taken his heart
and his tongue it seems

Premium MemberA Morning Score of Freedom

robust lyrics
winged-voices blest without angst
no pressers
pleasure and glory of God
winged-voices soar without war

a morning score
no bombs, no television
unflappable peace
no reporters in trees
paparazzi unheard of

joy of joining
in the singalong-chirping
with lovely weather
no choppers to ruin tweets
the twilight birds asleep

Premium MemberLet Me Go

I hugged her lightly.
Never having a sister before,
I was scared I’d break her.
Turtle, the best name I decided.
A shelter from harm always near her.

She grew to be my best friend,
with whom I could share my secrets.
I had to leave her one day.
My heart was tested and failed.
She was not ready.

I hear her grief on haunted nights.
I am unable to embrace her.
Comfort is not in my arms,
but in those with whom I left her.
She rejects them.

She remains alone by choice,
or perhaps by selfish sorrow.
Unflappable, I always said,
nothing to hold her from success.
She has unshakable pain.

I trust tomorrow brings her love,
a confidence to be who she is,
compassionate and forgiving.
Sister dear, let me go!
I trust that she hears me.

Premium MemberThe Heart of the Philippines

In the heart of the Philippine’s embrace
Is a metropolis pulsating with life
Concrete veins coursing with stories
Unfolding each day within the urban tapestry

Tall buildings stretch towards the sky
Mirroring the aspirations of millions
Each window a glimpse into dreams
A city’s determined and unflappable vibe

Streets are alive with endless motion
Jeepneys weaving through the bustle
Railing against functional dissonance
Manila reverberates with fierce pride

Subjugated by a multitude of countries
History whispers a familiar narrative
From the cobblestones of Intramuros
Throughout the barangays of the metro

A resilient energy takes flight daily
Overcoming setbacks and carving a path
The positive Filipino spirit alive and ablaze
Rising above it all as suns of a new day

My Focus

It's all in my eyes
What you see is no disguise

My intent is so sincere
I'm aiming and shooting without fear

My energy is indefatigable
I can meet night with day and still be excitable

In the midst of storms, I'm unflappable
My level of stoicism is masterful

I'm peering
and I'm steering
I'm honing
and I'm toning
I'm leveling
and I'm not settling

This is MY FOCUS
And this is no hocus pocus

Strange News From Florida

The alligators will not stay in the water,
they head for strip malls, for chicken noodle joints
or sports bars for fish taco or spicy wings.
They get their nails done in a Korean salon
paying in Spanish gold.

The two legged;
the cranes, herons, and humans
edge around the gators.
Occasionally, rowdy boys bounce stones off
their scaly hides.
The unflappable crocodilians slyly grin
for they are ecologically moving-in.
Shrewdly, the reptiles are styling
alligator belts and boots, or sell gator skin handbags
from wayside stalls and booths.

The Floridians have become inured
to these green interlopers. Some seeing opportunity,
rent them housings with few tenancy rules
and ‘must have’ pools.
Sadly many furry pets keep going missing;
and not just the Cypress trees are stumped.

It’s a new era, one to be nearer together.
Undocumented or free-range, no longer estranged.
but one shared love for chicken, be it raw, fried
or grill flamed.

Looking At Sheep

Black sheep, white sheep,
Unflappable sheep,
They graze the high grass,
And appease all my demons.

Black sheep, white sheep,
Countless sheep,
They graze the grass divinely
And appease all my WORRIES.

Black sheep, white sheep
Disbelieving sheep,
They eat the grass, magically,
Ease all my anxiety.

Premium MemberIn My Heart a Rose

My mind and body thrive on the gentle rose.
My passion for you is a tornado, as a sage knows.
I'm frail and filled with a verve I didn't realize I had.
The rose inside my heart has left me so glad.

We had a short tryst the first moment we met.
Her aroma was a mix of warmth and otto's sweat.
I begged my pounding heart to slow down.
In scary delight, I lost how even lovers drown.

You have no spikes but smell akin to perfume.
Flower petals expel and flow when in bloom.
A silken duvet cover in a gorgeous pink hue
I adore being able to voice how I feel for you.

Rose petals in motion sustain her beauty.
The crimson velvet beneath her was snooty.
Feel the crimson hue of our proud residual.
Fabulous in her veil as we recite our ritual

My heart beats with the beauty of a rose
Providing an everlasting feeling of bestows
A rose that is flawless, spotless, and adamant
Kingly, self-assured, unflappable, and extravagant

Rose, do you truly yearn to stay amazing?
Your turn has arrived, or the wind is pacing
What would we be if not for your petal?
My heart and insights are vigorously special.

“As I watched the seagulls, I thought, That’s the road to take; find the absolute rhythm and follow it with absolute trust.” ~ Nikos Kazantzakis

RUDIMENTS OF WINGS

O child, your seablown hollyhocks— recall
of Kilmer’s tree. So rapidly your heart
‘tis wild, carefree.

Sweet child, your cherry cheeks are mountain peaks
in Field’s gingham and calico The Feud.
You soar on swing.

Quill and ink — unflappable raven wings
of Poe’s haunting ballad stir up feelings,
never receding.

Dear child, out in the lonely woods of Frost,
harness bells shaking in the snowy woods—
effervescent cold.

The Lord is my shepherd, Psalm twenty-three.
Lovely solemnity— a poem-prayer.
Schooled in scripture.

Rudimentary poetry in flight.
you hold onto each illumined feather—
the inner child.

Premium MemberScorpio

Sensual and passionate by disposition.
Calm under pressure; brave and resourceful.
Oftentimes open and unflappable.
Repulsed by dishonesty and passiveness.
Pushing beyond obstacles and limitations.
I'm a red-blooded go-getter; infinitely proud
October boy, from the cradle to the grave.

Premium MemberMutuality In Friendship

Our friend was unflappable,
regardless of what happened.
She handled every trial
smoothly—without weary sighs.

We considered her our guide,
and she coached us through hard times,
like a well-trained therapist,
this unique friend we cherished.

We saw how focused on self
we’d been when SHE asked for help—
advice! Now we’re equal, each
with strength all the others seek.
