Unexpectedly I grew old.
Yesterday I was seventeen
With all my hopes and silly dreams.
I was often told,
Do not grow old,
Old age is for the very brave.
But I didn’t listen, hadn’t a care,
Chose to ignore the odd grey hair,
Chose not to believe what harsh sunlight revealed,
Preferring candlelight and what it concealed.
Found ways to excuse the much slower pace,
Getting through life was never a race,
Found missing items in the oddest of places
And laughed off the memory lapses.
Then waking one night to silence and darkness
I knew it was time to confess,
I had wasted my life, had not taken chances
Had not taken part in life’s myriad dances,
Never seized the moment, never chose to dare,
Never waltzed through life with hardly a care.
And now I knew I could no longer ignore
What the rest of my life had in store:
A time to reflect,
A time of regret,
With only myself to blame.

Whatever arises
Appears as
What is happening..
Unexpectedly
A thought arises
That I see with
Unmistakable
Separation and edges..
Unexpectedly
A thought connecting
Several other thoughts
Arises as a story..
Unexpectedly
New thoughts of
Edgelessness and
Emptiness arise
As a paradox and are
Met with unease
Or resonance and
A feeling of
Freedom...

A SON UNEXPECTEDLY PASSES
an intention not explained,
of an action designed
to focus on a plight;
but never articulated why.
and as the bell tower clangours,
and olde bones neath shallow graves,
groan under weight
of another who comes before their time,
and many cried ‘Oh Why!’
an intention not explained,
of a son unexpectedly
passes before his moment and in his prime,
and a family cried.

Night fell on me unexpectedly
Like overwhelmed by lust lover
Hiding in shadows of my dreams
In faint moonlight emerging
From the top of eucalyptus trees
Like a gigantic night bird
Grabbing my hair and pulling me
Towards his body and landing
On my lips with his airy wings
Enveloping me and devouring
With fiery consuming passion
That I drowned in
I did not want to escape
I had no willpower to move
I surrendered to lust
That we shared all night
And both slowly sank
In sweet vast ocean
Of bottomless well
Of never experienced
Pulsating sensation
Both of flying up high
In the starry nights sky
And falling deep down into
The dark bottom of ocean
Of burning sensations
That lasted all night
Till next morning I woke up
With my head spinning around
Feeling sick and nauseous
Filled with strange ideas
Never known to me before
Like a pregnant woman
With a precious secret
Of creating new life
Deep down in my psyche
I held a secret
That I never revealed
To anyone

If those who are so mean to me
Were to pass unexpectedly
Would happiness come to me?
Would the pain and humiliation go away?
Would love and gentleness find its way,
To fill my soul to remove the grey?
Or would hurt and anger keeps it place
Inside my heart and on my face
Keeping me from love's kind embrace
Pain comes unexpectedly
Overwhelming and enveloping me
Uninvited and slow to leave pain steals all my energy

I sat and watched quietly
the shuffle of her feet,
the forceful lean upon the walker
and I wondered – how did it come to this?
Just yesterday she knew my name,
last week she appeared to be herself
and spoke clearly plans for the holidays
and I concurred – we’d travel to be with family.
Then in the night, the darkness came
it surrounded her in triumph,
unawares she called out to me
and there it was - the strangest feeling of not knowing.
She’s not that old, barely forty-eight
you know it’s the new thirty-one
when all the world lay at your feet
looking forward to retirement - never meant to come.
How many years lead to this
while we were planning futures and travels,
working hard and saving up
for years to share - then reality set in we were already there.

You ran away from me,
I find you at the pear
I collapse in your arms; wondering,
if I'm gonna die here
If I die will you say " I love you"
If I live will you marry me?
If I die then let everyone know I loved them
Tell them to remember me and I'll be in harmony
If I have another chance at life will you marry me?
If you do, it will be the world versus you and me
I'll be with you every day loving you till the end of time
I'll never tell a lie
I'll never hide
I'll be honest and true
That and more will be in the trust we share
So, will you say "I do"
For those who find true love unexpectedly

Love comes in wild nights-
In wildest night of my dreams
When two hearts become one
And all my sorrows are finally gone.
Love comes like shooting stars.
One can wish upon his fate
To ask someone for a date
Awaiting her best responses.
Loves comes unexpectedly. And yes!
No one knows whether it's good or evil.
Sometimes love is honest, generous, peaceful,
Selfish, hate, painful, and ruthless.
Love is a dream, a beautiful dream
That comes unexpectedly.
You deserve it and yearn for it
That no one will ever question your heart.
Love is a dream that comes unexpectedly...

Unexpectedly- and much too quick- I found myself wrapped in your arms.
I should have known that I’d fall far too fast for your charms.
You were too good to be true, this I knew. This I knew
Because it was in my mind that I created you-
A man with a gaze that could pierce through your heart
And an unreal love for the same lyrical art.
I thought I was safe- you existed only in my head-
But imaginary people are lethal when they tread
Through your dreams
And nothing is ever exactly how it seems.
My fantasy creation- I had but a week
Until you decided to leave me alone.
Now you won’t even speak (I am too weak).
The idea of you was better unknown.
