I gazed upon the winter sky,
Expecting snowflakes to gently lie
Upon my palm, a delicate dance.
But Instead, Mount Fuji ash takes it chance.

Explanation: this poem is about human expectations, the opening line "I gazed upon winter sky/ expecting snowflakes to gently lie on my palm" reveal our human expectations and assumptions about how things should unfold.
We humans tend to make assumptions based on past experience and general trends.
When instead of snowflakes Mount Fuji ash fell it symbolises that life is full of suprises and it have unpredictable nature.
When the princess kissed the frog on the lips,
her heart burst in three painful double skips.
Then she sank to the floor,
dead as a nail in a door.
Yep ~ that's how they do fall sometimes ~ these chips.
I look into his baby blue eyes,
A young man now standing before me.
My heart sees a little boy
To protect.
Shielding him from the cross I carry,
The pain of losing one of my babies,
Living my remaining days
In honour of those left behind.
Shielding him,
Protecting him
From life’s unexpected twist of fate.
Shielding him,
Like a mama bear,
Fiercely holding on.
Pointing to the rainbows,
To the pot of gold.
Shielding him
With love.
Fear not, doubt's dark whispers,
embrace the testing ground.
We face the same old existential dreads -
the unexpected twist, the vague essay prompt.
Genial birdsong mocked our anxious morning
and squirrels still scampered unconcerned.
“You’re a beautiful bundle of stress,”
I assured Lisa this morning
as I handed her her water bottle.
Things that make us nervous
Vary, each of us unique
In what can cause a racing heart
Or sweat or tears to leak.
A lack of time to be prepared,
Results of tests or scans,
An unexpected twist of fate
To mess up all our plans.
Being forced to face a fear
That freezes us inside;
Having to confront a truth
That’s always been denied.
There are those who never feel
Anxiety; I’d bet
That if they do exist, they aren’t
People I have met.
Sleeping Beauty tosses and turns
as in a course contrary churns
galactic realm outside the heart
where further spatial spying smart
more astronomic savvy learns.
While telescopic eye sojourns
through visionary sight discerns,
the fairy talers too impart
Sleeping Beauty.
Enlightenment delusion spurns.
As mortal flame’s desiring burns,
in slumbered dreams our paths we chart
and strive to craft a living art.
Oh when will I awaken, yearns
Sleeping Beauty?

The poem is in the form of a rondeau…
Some sources of inspiration were the following…
Black Eye Galaxy (Wikipedia)…
M64: The Sleeping Beauty Galaxy (APOD)…
Explanation: The Sleeping Beauty galaxy may appear peaceful at first sight but it is actually tossing and turning. In an unexpected twist, recent observations have shown that the gas in the outer regions of this photogenic spiral is rotating in the opposite direction from all of the stars! The fascinating internal motions of M64, also cataloged as NGC 4826, are thought to be the result of a collision between a small galaxy and a large galaxy where the resultant mix has not yet settled down.
In the car, our radio
Has stations we adore
From a company called Sirius,
Which we pay extra for.
As Sirius subscribers,
We get classical and blues,
Plus the Beatles and a lot of
Rock and roll from which to choose.
But on New Year’s eve, our signal
(For it’s satellite deployed)
Just stopped working and so Poof!
There went the music we enjoyed.
Since it’s holiday, we couldn’t
Reach a person to assist
And the helpline couldn’t help us,
Not an unexpected twist.
We will follow up tomorrow,
Though the irony, to me,
Is that we had no such problems
When our radio was free!
It was all just an performance, an act.
A scene in an interesting play.
There was a intriguing actor,
performing on stage that day.
One hell of a great performance.
Excitement, on the edge of my seat.
Butterflies in the stomach,
I think my heart skipped a beat.
He stumbled on not a word.
Perfectly spoke every scripted line.
He must have performed in this
play before.
Maybe even many times.
His humorous side fit perfect too.
Laughter became an amplifier.
You could not miss a single minute,
Every second of the throbbing desire.
A perfectly executed seduction,
Charismatic charm demonstrated.
He you completely memorized.
Left you feeling intoxicated.
The surprise unexpected twist,
shocked you at the end of the play.
It was a wolf in sheep's clothing, not an actor.
who's performance was flawless that day!
Caren Krutsinger is a poetess exceptional, extraordinare
She pulls lots of her poems in a teacher’s lounge from thin air
Her characters are richly drawn and funny as can be
When reading Caren’s poems, I am often brought to my knee
Take "MacMillen Ditches McMiggle," an excellent, prime sample
Penned with fun, and a Caren flair, makes for the perfect example
Made me read it twice, then say, "By golly, think of that!"
Then, there was Zeus, and Aphrodite, and "Half and Half Cat."
Caren's mind never shuts down, a plethora of incredible wit,
You surely must read "I Told Her I Was Sorry, I Could Not Do It!"
Intriguing poems about her familiar cats never fail
"Astronaut Cat John" and "Mystical Cat in Gray Scale."
My favorites are verses that have an unexpected twist
Like "He Sounded Handsome Charming Even," you get my gist
Caren always starts my day off with tickles and lots of grins
And, I am delighted to count her among my best Poetry Soup friends.

No Straight Lines!
There are no straight lines in life
Life is a story of unexpected twist and turns!
Yet, life is the best gift that one can possess!
Don't throw it away because of what others
Might do or won't do for you!
Turn unexpectedly challenges
To extraordinary opportunities!
Treat small and insignificant things
With the same level of importance
That you give for big and great things!
Every insignificant thing that you do today
Will find its significance someday!

The horror of the film frightened me
Favorite dad was the bad guy
I was terrified to earn
May never sleep again
Unexpected twist
Wide awake now
Scared to death
Nightmare
Damn!
A POEM MADE UP OF CLICHES
At Poetry Soup we're admonished
Never to use cliches
They provide us an extensive list
For the error of our ways
But one thing you can rely on
Is people just don't pay heed
Like a dog gnawing a ham bone
Poets write stuff unfitten to read
Over and over again
I traverse the road less traveled
No one understands me
I feel worn to a frazzle
When all is said and done
I'll just wish upon a star
Or perhaps I'll follow the sun
And hope I don't go too far
Since fools rush in
Where angels fear to trod
And people get under my skin
I'll go by the grace of God
When life takes an unexpected twist
And you're plagued by a multitude of sin
Not making money hand over fist
Misery loves company and broken hearts never mend
You have reached the end of your rope
Tired of waiting for your ship to come in
Don't sit around and mope
'Cause you have fences to mend

The days are laden with a mixture of joy and sorrow
The days give the hope and the exalt of tomorrow
While at the same time
They keep swaying to the tunes of life
The tunes singing that
Tomorrow does never come
And even if it does,
Tomorrow does meet with its end
Or with an unexpected twist
Causing us all to bear the very weight of life
On our shoulders
While we do carry the burden of our crosses!
Somehow, don't we wish we could paint our lives
The way we would want it to be
Don't we wish we could simply opt to act out
Or change roles, as we would deem it fit
Pray, life, in the very end,
Remains a Mighty Goddess
Giving us no choice
But tempting us with the hope and the exalt
With which she is imbibed of!
Pray, of what use is waiting for tomorrow
Best it is to swallow the sorrow
And build up the exalt
By living that which is today!
Silence shutters in through the fresh air
streaked windows painted in despair
star struck visions seek the light
hidden inside the distant night
-----------------------------
Smoke-filled eyes blink
gasps trying to think
a whisper heard
no just a bird
-------------
so missed
a twist
sighs
why

Life is a gift
With an unexpected twist
A little crisp
And full of risk
It is a story
With a gist of glory
Somewhere with a feeling of sorry
That is so ordinary
A route to unknown direction
Having no fixed destination
In search of our prime location
We missed out life’s best occasions
To be either happy or sad
Will confuse you, making you mad
With nothing extra to add
Because its the only choice you had
Being lucky in your life
Is like a blessing
And to be unlucky
Like a curse
Life is a tragedy
Sometime serious, sometime comedy
Going in with a flow
Just like a parody
