"...But from the beginning it was not so".
Matthew 19:8b KJV.
Division is sometimes necessary, but
IN the beginning, it was not so.
Values tend to fade in divorce, and
Ownership seems to take precedence.
Religion and faith often take a back seat.
Cost should be calculated beyond 'dollars'.
Every marital separation is unique.
‘Romeo, Romeo! Wherefore art thou Romeo?‘
(Romeo and Juliet, Act 2, Scene 2)
By Shakespeare
that night they were to meet
but Romeo got cold feet
on Valentines Day
he went away
Romeo was afraid to commit
because he would have to submit
her sweet exterior
hid her real demeanor
she passed herself as shy and sweet
but he knew he would take a back seat
so, he sent her a short letter
saying “I’m outta here!”
Sightings reported all across the globe
Perhaps a weird, undulating space probe
First it’s way up in the sky
Then it dips down to say ‘Hi’
Scares the bejabbers out of technophobes

some people love being " in love"
are perpetually in love
their cars and houses sing of it
their pets and children
take a back seat as
they are all about this new
fresh never-had-before feeling
They exist and survive solely
on the unique emotion of being in love
Unfortunately, being-in-love stales, and
molds up, and puts itself into
a comfortable state eventually.
When this happens, and it always does,
being-in-love addicts have to
move on - find a new love because it is the
"this is all new and I love it" feeling of being
"in-love" that twirls their heart.
These hunters and gatherers are not yet ready for the "sit around the house next to your best friend, enjoying a big bowl of chili" kind of love. Breaking another's heart, is of no concern, either. They need their "fix".
So they return to the hunt, seeking another who
wants to be "in love". They usually find them too.
Hot chocolate hot chocolate I like it sweet, at Yule time I'll drink it then take a back seat
beside the old tree where Santa I'll meet they'll be cookies galore for St Nick to eat
as he shimmies and jiggles on two booted feet and a face flushed like rubious beet
I'll be eager to meet him but I will not cheat as I wait for the daylight now isn't that neat !
hot chocolate hot chocolate with marshmallows too I'll watch the chimney as I quietly chew
I have coated the bricks with butter and goo so his belly will slide,
(wink) he'll know what to do !
Down in the manger the angels acrue waiting for Jesus to
make His debut
While the Three Kings are offering their three gifts on cue, dear Santa
I'm waiting, I'm waiting for you
Hot chocolate hot chocolate I like it sweet,
but when it comes to Jesus, I won't take a back seat.
Engraved like stone upon the writer's sense
a waft of inspiration flows from here to there
like fragrant spice of myrrh and frankincense
inside a writer's skill the savoir faire
a waft of inspiration flows from here to there
word to verse assembled and remembered
inside a writer's skill the savoir faire
it can be read but never be dismembered
word to verse assembled and remembered
the poet holds his own but shares at large
it can be read but never be dismembered
crafted words of what cannot disparage
the poet holds his own but shares at large
like fragrant spice of myrrh and frankincense
crafted words of what cannot disparage
engraved like stone upon the writer's sense
an active writer who writes to succeed
will be a blessing to all those they meet
so, take up your quill it's all that you need
keep penning and never take a back seat

Protesting Authority
Miracle Man Thoughts
5-8-2022
Oft times we protest making the evening news,
and it isn’t always from our differing in views.
Rather than bend to authority & take a back seat,
we’ll make signs and line both sides of a street.
Following others advice blindly we simply won’t,
and it isn’t always about what we believe, or don’t.
But all about the narrative big brother has sold,
our innate nature just rejects our being told.
The truth has turned and walked away….
finding noone care’s anymore.
Seem’s people are trapped in the conviction
it’s how they feel that matter’s more
The laws of nature are no longer respected
While math and physics take a back seat
To those who cry they’ve been wrongly offended
as they raise their fist shouting in the street
The louder they yell
the more their minds clear
No longer the facts
but their feelings they hear
We are heading to New Orleans she says
The Parade is exactly what we need for Dez.
Dez is a cousin who has style and flair
His enthusiastic exuberance hangs in the air
No one can control him our grandma warns
No one has to, this crowd will all swarm.
The parade is filled with costumes of all kinds.
Created from the imagination of brilliant minds.
Oranges, greens, silvers, golds, swirl and dance.
The crowd is cheering and chanting, a united prance.
Food smells of garlic, cloves, and cinnamon too
Wafting over the heads of this maniacal zoo.
Laughter and gaiety are afoot on the scene.
The wildest crowd most of us have ever seen.
Fat Tuesday and Ash Wednesday take a back seat.
Mardi Gras Parades simply cannot be beat!
They laugh, they giggle, they titter and they toss.
They jump, they dive, they swing and they sing.
Their exuberance runs around the room, chasing whatever.
Energy boings out of them in all directions.
They are the children of course!
We watch, remembering, loving those days.
Our aches and pains and bowel problems take a back seat.
They are the show, and we are the onlookers, feeling blessed.
There they go – crashing and dashing, breaking things.
Apologizing, and then breaking something else.
We do not care. We are loving the show.
Remembering a time when we were astronauts and ballerinas too.
Our old dogs and cats are in hiding, terrified of the energy in our house.
We clap along, sing along, and ride along, loving the ride.
No one is more joyful that a child.
Two children? All the better!
The garden sunlight plays tag
with our fat ginger cat.
Dad watches World War Two
he grinds his teeth
a general forced to take a back seat.
Mother is in the kitchen
not her natural territory.
She opens cupboards exploring contents.
It is a blue and white kitchen
made of trees that died in 1974
along with linoleum dreams.
She shakes a martini like a
blind cardsharp. Her wrists
are heron bones
that click a gold-toothed charm chain.
Flashes of recollection -
they follow me up beige carpeted stairs.
Small bathroom-toilet to the right
where once I saw mum naked.
Oedipus lives down the hall
as a young teenager.
From my window
I see the long narrow garden
with its back gate.
Passion-flowers entwining pine boards.
When the Nazi Storm Troopers come
I will fire down at them, lobbing hissing grenades
that land like angry cats onto their fleeing backs.
A knock on my bedroom door.
I can hear myself breathing heavily,
a teenager desperately yells: 'Keep out!'
Mum pauses to catch her breath.
She is out of uniform,
and speaking
to a camera in my head.
Damned like a Dain
Memories of your melodies,
Struck my heart like lullabies.
Still feels like yesterday,
When you left me damned.
Damned like a Dain!
When the lips that showers me praises,
Begins to curse me ferociously.
I would close my eyes and
The promised forever that became,
The never ever and smile beautifully!!
When the arm in whose embrace,
I run to begins to push me away.
I will remember like it was yesterday,
When the eyes that sees only good in me,
Doesn't see me anymore.I would tell myself,
It's time to find purpose!
When the legs that takes to it's heels for me,
Begins to take a long walk on a short pier,
I will always remember to take a back seat,
When it comes to you.
This flower emanates potentials now!
I will remember like it was,
Yesterday when I loved,trusted
And cherished myself and I
Was fairing well without you!
You think it's going to be your way or the highway but that's not how it's going to be.
You'd better change your way of thinking if you want to continue to be married to me.
You are not always going to get your way.
You'd better learn that if you want me to stay.
You need to learn that marriage is a two-way street, it's not a one-way street.
When it comes to our marriage, I'm not going to take a back seat.
You don't care about my dreams and desires, you think it's all about you.
If you don't change, I'll have this marriage annulled, that's what I'll do.
You've started laughing because you actually think I'm not serious.
When I talk about this problem, you think it's not worthy to discuss.
It won't be your way or the highway but that is something that I have failed to make clear.
I no longer want you for a wife so I'm going to pack my bags and get the hell out of here.
(Even though this poem is fictional, I really would leave such a person)
divine soma nectar dripping
through hidden nadis within
each pulse explosive ignition
bliss throb within enlivening
crown assumes pole position
one thousand petals blooming
elixirous magnetism vivifying
as bliss renews in continuation
mind concepts take a back seat
inner reality dawns beauteously
rapture delighting continuously
in sync with our silent heart beat
the divine caress is soft & gentle
childlike play teasing and loving
each nuance within scintillating
as we participate in Gods miracle
