One stifling hot day an empty sky tries to eke - out - tears, but can – not
all of a sudden
gray clouds gather and thicken . . .
a downpour explodes
As if for gladness heaven weeps.
One lone frog through a puddle leaps.
Small creatures take it all in stride;
beneath large bushes many hide.

Nonchalantly they practised skating artistically,
Both are considered champions in their own right,
At one point they separated, each to his own end
When he suddenly fell, unbecomingly on the ice.
Both are considered champions in their own right
One could see the surprise on her face.
When he suddenly fell unbecomingly on the ice.
Hands went to her dainty mouth to stifle a giggle.
One could see the surprise on her face,
At one point they separated, each to his own end
Hands went to her dainty mouth to stifle a giggle.
Nonchalantly they practised skating artistically.

Sorry, the soldier said, stifling a cry
~ as a tear-shaped bullet fell from his eye
Remember those brave soldiers who
have fallen in the defense of freedom

“I sat and watched him babble like a brook
it took forever to hear the first drop fall
it rained into the water of the newborns
I listened for a moment
then left him to his massive words
tired from his efforts,
sleepy from his speech,
unconsciously conscious
of his taffy-pulling time.”

I hide the emptiness
digging a hole in the head, unending pain
bury a stiff smile
between huffs of breath
It's almost a mystery
it can almost be unheard
the cloud in my eyes, almost curling
too imperfect for words
I dig this smile into a hole
snatched by my last breath
as the wound reaches beyond
an imperfect heart

Respite
From boiling sun
Stealing my breath from me
My heart pounds as the heat drains me
Perspiration drips onto the hot ground
I sit quiet and dream of a breeze
Dark clouds gather above
Perhaps by night
Respite
