Mom said, “No sex before marriage,”
With rules she thought were quite sage.
But in her wedding shot,
I see a twist in the plot—
Was her vow just a part of the age?
Sheer boredom has me at this torpid end
Another rerun; please give me a break
The short list of scripts to which they pretend
I simply just can’t find one flying fake
Perhaps I’ll jump up on this tabletop
Do my best impression of Bill Shakespeare
It may resuscitate this boring flop
Nah, not now, my blushing bride is still here.
It doesn’t tire you out, this rehashed chatter?
To blab straight past glazed eyes, what could it bring?
Please wake me if you say something that matters
Until then, I’ll just twirl my wedding ring
It’s manna from heaven, my pager screams!
My wife winks, it’s time to go home and dream

With the advancement of age
Man starts to think about marriage
The boy and the girl are nubile.
It's high time to change the living style
Through the union of husband and wife
Marriage brings stability in life.
Being the foundation stone of the family.
It is the source of progeny.
However, sociologists have divergent opinions.
To preserve freedom they propose free-union.
Tie a noose around your neck
You find yourself in the bottleneck
Who said marriages are made in heaven?
For it turns everything at sixes and sevens
Many affirm previously they were well
Now life has become a hell
So, if it's not a perfect mode of living
Is there any new method for our well being?
Look out there! Newlywed bride steps out softly from wedding coach.
Tradition expects the bride to step on lid on the huge pot.
Would she do? Before entering in her own home to-be then.

Contest: Walk Softly by Debbie Guzi

========================================================,
There is a marriage tradition in some of the Asian countries. A huge pot filled with grains is put at the threshold of the Groom’s house. The newly-wed bride has to step on the lid of the pot to enter her home-to-be.
In India, the tradition is generally practiced in all Hindu marriages.
Marriage is a deal
It gives love’s recognition
It is a blessing
It paves the way for more care
For each other in the world
This wedding is hard-labor duty
(All the guests are acting so SNOOTY!)
A whole lotta' bunk!
Guess I'll get drunk
And pinch that thar bridesmaid's stiff booty...
For Joann's contest
It is Honorable
It is Memorable
It is Desirable
It is Adorable
It is Blissful
It is Colorful
It is Eventful
It is Faithful
A Holy Marriage
Is a carriage
Of divine courage
That carries no cage
In its' page
But its' wage
Is a Beautiful stage
Until old age
Leave it to the Scottish as the royal wedding nears
To unveil their latest, Viagra infused beers
A beer to stir the loins of the newly wedded prince
A beer to shock the royals and make the Queen Mum wince
A beer that’s sure to give the Brits a stiffer upper lip
A beer that makes this Scotland brewer appear a bit more hip
A beer that says “Arise Prince Willy” – “Celebrate Big Willy Style”
A beer best taken “tongue-in-cheek” guaranteed to raise a smile

Beneath the arc of crumbling dusk,
Lisps down the petals of the rose
To crimson-kiss the fountain bowls
Where the champagne faucet flows.
The guests in boarding houses
Felt the smoulder of their bones
Balding walls restricting transit
Behind the mortar work and stones.
And we cried and smiled and cheered
When the anaesthetic rushed,
As the opiate of media
Camouflaged the broke and crushed.
Oh, tomorrow they are married,
And the next day we will wake,
To our debts and thoughts of dying
In a world we didn’t make.
Yet today in celebration
We salute the future King,
Feed us pomp and circumstance,
We’ll bow and kiss your ring.

ADMITTEDLY I DON’T HAVE MUCH CENTS
AS IN DOLLARS AND CENTS SPELLED WITH A “C”
THERE ARE TOO MANY MEN SITING ON THE FENCE
I MEAN AS IN “THAT DOESN’T MAKE SENSE TO ME”
NOW I’M NOT TALKING ABOUT ELECRICY OR OTHER EVERYDAY THINGS
I DO HOWEVER HAVE KNOWLEDGE OF HOW TO FLY AN AIRPLANE
II DOESN’T MAKE SENSE THAT YOU TWO WOULD EXCHANG WEDDING RINGS
AND I CAN’T FIND MY WAY TO “RIVERSIDE” AND MAIN”
BUT MY HAT’S OFF TO MR.. MARCONI
NO WIRES, NO CABLES THAT BRINGS YOUR VOICE TO ME
BUT HE GAVE A HUGE VENUE FOR EVERY F*****G PHONY
AND I ONCE HAD MANY CHANCES OFFERED AS ACHOICE TO ME
SO NOW WE HAVE A PILL POPP;ING DR. SHOPPIBNG ICON TO HEAR
SPEWING OUT HIS RACIST REMARKS TO MILLIONS OF HIS FANS MAKES ME IRATE
MR. MARCONI’S SPIRIT JUST MAY BE WATCHING AMD SUMMONING THE FATHER OF
FEAR
SO IF HAVING NO SENSE ISN’T GOOD I’LL HAVE TO FIND A RICH OLD LADY TO DATE

W hen you go to someone's wedding
H ave you done so in clothes that are unsuitable?
E ver shown up for an evening out wearing shorts?
R emember the times when we "dressed" for dinner?
E ven now, some do so.
I t isn't everyday that special things happen in our lives...
S trange how inadequate we are in showing respect.
T here are times when a casual attitude is not offensive.
H ovever, that is for the mundane.
E ach one of us makes choices with regard to events in life.
R ecently, I attended the memorial for a friend's mother.
E very one who was there knew that this was a somber occasion.
S ome, however, did not take the time to think about their demeanor.
P erhaps we have gone overboard with our "casual" attitudes.
E xpectations for me are that one would come dressed for the ceremony.
C asual attire and wearing baseball caps are fine at a picnic, but
T hen, I was taught that social graces begin at home.
The date was set and the church booked up
Invitations sent out, colors picked, and a hall for the sup.
The bridesmaids and groomsmen had all been chosen
For the date for us on the calendar was now frozen.
The Maid of Honor could only one person be
The Best Man knew this day would be crazy.
For all of the planning, the work, and the tension
Would culminate in this day of anticipation.
The minister counseled us and helped us to plan
But the burden was on us, for this day to span.
We wanted everyone to be as happy with us today
That's why we took so long to plan it this way.
The floweres trimmed the aisle along the carpet white
While all our family and friends dressed festively tonight.
The music started to play as the couples walked the aisle
I was reminded not to cry, instead to give a big smile.
It was my turn to walk the walk now
"Don't slip, don't trip, don't cause a row.
It's the day of the wedding and there is my peer
One question remains, "What am I doing here?"
Offspring were preoccupied in their spiral career,
you feel sorry. You don’t get the sleep,
core-feelings flee from
the windows of an ailing house.
A cloud softens again in the eyes.
Wronged truth has created
an aparthied in ranks of candles.
Inner pain gropes towards
the spot between eyes.
You survive by the
whispers of absolute bliss.
Looking becomes a sequential text.
The self divides the darkness into hot flames.
Outpouring the anguish, the frailities.
At dawn the blackness
of dripping night fades.
The earth wins the moral nothingness,
beyond the regrets of inspired sermons.
The psyche is rooted
deep in the mud, topless
dust spreading the
message of preferred truce.
SATISH VERMA
LOVE
a gift
of good cause
Cupid prowls for souls
with his bow and arrow
binding two unknown spirits
“for sacred matrimonial life”
As I sit and think,my mind begins to wonder,
And as my thoughts come racing back,I begin to ponder.
Could things have been different, what if I would have fixed that old clock?
What if I would have never met Emmy Lou on that fishing dock?
What if that old Chevy would have beaten that ford?
What if I would not have gone to that party where I was bored?
What if my little girl would have never come along?
What if they would have never played that perfect wedding song?
There are a lot of what if's in this world today.
But I would not have lived my life in any other way.
