I feel almost cut off from the rest of the world,
Trapped,
In my city, in my home, in my mind.
I can feel the time slipping away along with my sanity as I cling to a semblance of normality.
Only 3 days in with 33 to go, and even that seems quite unlikely.
I try to talk to my friends, meaning lost behind faceless words and also lost,
The countless treasures you never even knew you had
Until you didn’t have them.
The benefits are a great many and the cost is high,
Too high.
Time spent with my family is probably the most normal thing I have,
But the time spent on the computer,
even now,
feels as if it is ripping away all that I had grown accustomed to.
The monotony of life, the unpredictability as well,
Gone
A distant memory,
Of life without
Isolation
Men always remember Molly
The girl with the lethal brolly
Get near her skirt
Or try to flirt
And its back to Hello Dolly!
The age of social distancing, rife with existential angst and discontent.
People with cabin fever break quarantine, take to the streets to vent.

Does wearing a mask make you ill?
Are you a social distancing hater?
Then imagine how you'd feel
Being put on a ventilator

Our daughter, the professional epidemiologist
(Someone who studies things like diseases and pandemics)
came by today and social distanced with us.
No hugs
No touches
No pats
She refused to come into our house
Explaining she had been too many places
We would lose all ground we had gained
Staying home
Seeing no people
Going nowhere since March 12th, and it is June 7th!
So we sat outside and conversed
As long as we could stand the humidity
And heat that is ours to deal with on a 97 degree day
Being air conditioning magnets,
This was not long
But it was something.
Keep 2 meters away,
That means don’t come near me
As much as I love people,
Don’t come near me
What does this social distancing mean?
It means,
I can write till my fingers bleed,
Imagine till I have a migraine
It means poetry day,
Poetry night.
Poetry everyday
Leave me be,
I’m stuck in my mind,
Writing what comes to mind.
Putting those I can say out loud, in a poem.
Leave me be…
Work with social distancing,
And leave me be
A disease has spread,
Stay at home, away from friends,
Distance averts spread
making whoopie while social distancing
a most magical and wondrous feat
but you must have a long tool
or become the town fool
as you plead with and stretch out your weenie
Jack and Jill went up the hill,
Social distancing was forgotten,
Jill came down with Covid 19,
We wish they had been smarter!
Six feet distancing
Staying home meditating
Whispers in silence
Wise ones have pled,
“Use your head.
Better six feet apart than dead.”

No I'm not kidding , believe what I say.
Step behind the orange line and behind it you stay.
Yes, I'll scan your items from six feet away
but stay behind the orange line until its time to pay.
It's not rocket science, there's a pandemic, its real.
You may not believe it , but respect how we feel.
Stay six feet back and yes its a big deal.
We say it continuously , our mantra , our spiel.
Some of you get it and some are just dense.
Some get indignant and really take offense.
But the lines and the barriers to us just make sense.
When you get too close can't you see that we're tense.
Those lines were put there for a reason you see
and it might stay this way for one season or three.
So listen , dear customer, listen to me.
Get behind the orange line or no sale will there be.

social distancing walking in the Springtime
in this era of corona virus madness
enforced social distancing madness
one has to go out for a walk
social distancing as we walk
as we walk down the path
trying to avoid people
human contact with people
keeping the proper
six feet social distance
and the dreaded corona virus
how much longer
can we all endure this madness
this damn social
distancing dance with death
