Summer Abandonment
I carefully climb the old oak tree,
traipsing upon its extended limb.
Hold my breath, counting one, two, and three,
abandoning my perch for the swim....

Last Stop
Traipsing off to the cave
with my feelings and thoughts

A Hermit I’ll be,
my last battle now fought

Alone with my memories,
together indwelt

Eternity reckoned
—transcending myself

(Dreamsleep: October, 2020)...

Of late, I have been traipsing on this precious hill of mine; I find I oft encounter there members of the divine. Creation is so glorious, in spite or due to Fall; I find that I can scarce take in the wonder of it all.

One Moment, Please
I am bored to my Core,
Centered-self, uncivil war
An open mind hath closed its doors-
Soul is sick with selfish sores
How I've tried to fill these holes-
Traipsing through the biting cold
Dead ends ahead, where Vice has lead-
Goddamn! I've put my life on hold......

Premium Member The Ousting of Adam and Eve
Life was a blast in the Garden of Eden for Adam and Eve,

'Til the wrath of their Creator invited them to leave!

They were having a ball traipsing about in their birthday suit,

'Til that sneaky snake offered them a chomp of forbidden fruit!...

Sevenbits--Nature
A devoted friend he is,
Traipsing with me through Summer
And picking fruits in Autumn-
We would talk over coffee,
Recalling youth's crazed moments
Then leave in pain of Winter

Fair-weather, he is--stranger.

Possibilities
See the toddler traipsing by
His diaper hanging low

See the cool cat in his baggy pants
How much lower can they go?

Toddler seems to have made a number two
Really needs a diaper change

For the young fella with the baggy pants
Appears that possibility may also be true?...

A framed etching hangs
In the background of a silent traipsing dream
As she waits in preponderance
of words gathered along the way

A basket of flowers lies on the floor
Healing her heart upon a whimsical score
As she waits in loving song
Murmurous words to adorn
Every whim of her love
In beauty is born

For I see thee fair maiden free, Escape the bonds of horizons hold, Set claim to your majestic crown to be, That willfulness that causeth bold, Luminescence thou has donned, Traverse traipsing your eternal realm, Beholden to thee cast our eyes bond, For if I am a melody pray thee a psalm, So that I may rest, sweetly to calm. 2020 January 26

Shuffling Slowly
The snow turned into freezing rain
So walking wasn’t easy.
We shuffled slowly; fear of falling
Made me slightly queasy.

As younger folk went traipsing by
I realized, on reflection,
That once-upon-a-time my body
Needed no protection.

Yet, though in shape, I worry now
For aging bones may shatter
So caution reigns supreme as mind’s
Triumphant over matter....

Born To Wander
Rejected by parents
forsaken alone
One choice left to make
forever to roam

The cost ever paying
their wages of sin
Steps of abandonment
traipsing within

To beg or to borrow
the future on loan
The price of tomorrow
each moment unknown

With fate chasing after
both fortune and shame
A waif born to wander
—in search of a name

(Dreamsleep: July, 2023)...

A world full of syllables
Is so highly tillable;
they ebulliently buoy,
never leading to ennui.

When you’ve got Hong Kong Phooey
with a bowl of chop suey
and a glass of Drambuie,
what else do you need?

Or a wolf man named Gershon
with a camo tutu on
and he’s traipsing ‘cross your lawn,
asking more is just greed.

Soldier Boy
Soldier Boy

The rain is very thorough.
Going where I have to go
this summer afternoon I march west

beneath my own umbrella while
you beneath a floppy hat
dash marvelously east.

Why I wear this uniform
explains why I ignore
the perfume traipsing in your wake

the ribbons dancing in your hair
so I beneath my own umbrella
can keep on marching west.

Remember
Complacent as the moon
Flickering dimly in a dull night sky,
Soaring solo through the stars
Recalling remnants of the life

Cautiously remembering
A time long since gone,
Laughter and joy a distant memory
Engulfed in the dark quiet seclusion

Softly rumbling through a silent company
Traipsing countenances of dreams and nightmares,
Through dim starlight’s briefly glowing
On a memory that once was absolute...

Traipsing
He walks toward me, old, shabby and crooked,
yet there’s a pliancy of new mown-hay in him.

A peppery hound follows.
Now and again the dog slows and flops,
its muddy eyes question marks.
He calls to it -
the dog struggles up from a knuckled stiffness,
a skewbald tail wags.

I capture them both in an intake of breath.
We have all been traipsing,
but these two are at ease with their path,
while I have yet to find one....

Ghost Mall

The chess king
	still searches for
his foxmoor inside
	the ghost mall;
she slips behind
	a casual corner
somewhere
	down by the Gimbels
sipping an Orange Julius
	with Hot Sam.
No one sees
	the old
 bypass men
traipsing around
	the dry fountains
overandover
	in their white
 Kinney’s
others
	loop-de-loop,
over the Scoop
and under the
	kiosk bone fields
stopping to
 	prayby
the Lazarus door...

Weighty is the crown he wears;
huddled masses, unawares.
Flotsam in life's ebb and flow.
Fools! They scurry to and fro.
Heavy is his mantle bourne,
furrowed brow, lines deep and worn.
Addled, ignorant, confused,
traipsing gaily, much amused,
finding purpose where there's none,
blindly to the cliff they run.
Clenched, the jaw, and ground, the teeth;
naught but scorn for those beneath.
Joyless contrast, rather stark;
on he stumbles in the dark....

“Rash and inexperienced”
frees thoughts within my mind
of traipsing deepest Africa
retrieving melon rinds.

Bi-colored python rock snakes
and wondrous fever trees
delights in my imagining
from phrases such as these…

How is a rudyard kippled?
I’ve often wondered that.
Perhaps Limpopo’s man-of-war
and I could have a chat.

Though pachyderms and heffalumps
can make the mind run wild,
enchantments hang on every page
of Just So Stories, child....

Premium Member Glimpses of the Past
Occasionally I look at time departed,
And nearly always with a rueful eye.
Calling back days of steps uncharted,
Traipsing through days, querying why?

Times that found my heart hardened,
Ahead of God setting my domain afire.
Prior to my psyche becoming burdened,
I was merely a sinner reposed in mire.

But something happened in my life,
On the far side of minds forgetting.
Cancer and the Master Surgeon's knife,
Tutored me about another blood letting....
