Costly World
Take it all take it from me
All that this world should be
It isnt anywhere to be seen
Not even in my wildest dream
I have searched far and wide
To find a home on the other side
But this life has cost too much
The gates of heaven I'll never touch...

My Ring Is the Symbol of My Wife
My ring is the symbol of my heart
Take it from me and we will never part
Wear it n your finger and take my hand
Lets start a family wherever we land
Lets stay together for ageless years
Live in love beyond joyful tears
Exist in the dream that is our life
My ring is the symbol of my wife...

Better Than You
I've been loved, I've been left.
I've been wronged by the best.
I've had hopes that were shattered in two.
I've heard empty promises spoken.
I've had dreams left so broken.
There was no chance that they'd ever come true.
It isn't obvious to see,
but take it from me,
there's no hell that I haven't walked through,
but I won't cross that line
because this heart of mine
has been broken by better than you....

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Museum
Six hours of viewing
(Not counting the shop)
And listening, too.
(Never wanting to stop!)
All the bands from my youth
(And their young and old selves)
Brought to life (from their
Dusty LP's on my shelves).
With both headphones to hear
And screens waiting to watch,
The years slipped away
(My age more than a notch).
Nostalgia's the setting
And rock is the key.
A visit's essential -
Just take it from me....

The Water Pours
Take it from me, the rain is bored.
Seconds later, the rain would pour.
A rainstorm.
Approaching, lightning and thunder.
We Followed with awe and wonder.
Streets rainwashed.
Cars tried to run and would stall out.
People stranded and others scout.
Deep raindrops.
Rescue operations took place.
Helicopters came in with grace.
Strong rainbands.
The clouds for good.
Colors above were understood.
A rainbow....

Free
I want to be Free like a bird soaring through the sky
Free like a plane that goes flying by
Free like ships sailing on the sea
Free to be whatever I want to be
I want to be Free as a horse trotting through the city
Free as the flowers that are oh so pretty
Free as the sun that shines so bright
Free as the moon that glows in the night
To be Free means a lot to me, so take it from me
someday we'll all be Free....

Living a Lie
POEMS
Living a lie
How many of us are living a lie
We know that we are not being true to ourselves
We walk around with a mask on
Not letting people see us for who we really are
We try to please others instead of ourselves
We let others walk over us because we love them
But who is living the lie
You or them
Yeah it’s you
Living a lie
Stop the lie
Live the truth
Take it from me
I am not proud
That I am living a lie

You Don'T Want To Go To Hell
(I got the idea for this poem from a cartoon I drew.)
One day while climbing a mountain, I fell.
I died and went to Hell.
At first I thought things were well
because the Devil told me that people no longer burn in Hell.
Satan told me that I shouldn't be relieved.
He said people no longer burn but now they're tortured by TV.
Take it from me, you don't want to go to Hell.
Satan tortures me by eternally forcing me to watch Dawson's creek and Saved by
the bell....

Message From An Old Man
All will be better, the wounds will heal
Someday when the times change
Peace will reign, and no evil left to conceal
When the time comes, it won’t be strange
We’ve waited a long time for the truth to reveal.
All will be better, just wait and see
Creation continually works toward the better
Optimists will unite with resounding glee
When the Golden Rule is respected to the letter
Message from an old man, take it from me.

HOLIDAY SING ALONG
It’s time for a sing along
Engage and feel the belong
When you feel down, just do a sing along
The holidays are about coming together in joy
Blessings to see
Don’t take it from me
Just observe and see
The Eggnog being right
Sugar and spice nice
Feel the Christmas love
All provided from above
Laughter breaking into cheer
You have entered the Christmas atmosphere
Cheers
Christmas preserver
Lifting my Eggnog glass to all
Hold the Christmas warmth near
Merry Christmas Cheer

Respect
Thank yous or pleases, will not spread diseases
They can be put to use as you will
It’s a guaranteed fact that politeness and tact
Have never made anyone ill
Civility’s free you can take it from me
That it won’t cost a penny old chum
Practice a while with your Sunday best smile
Impoliteness makes everyone glum
Good manners are things that shouldn’t have strings
Every day they must be put to use
Exploit etiquette you will garner respect
‘cause for rudeness there is no excuse...

This Craft Called Poetry
Those who have no gift for poetry
Ought, perhaps, to learn to ski,
Or maybe take up a gentler hobby
For poetry requires much creativity
With considerable language facility,
Every poetic effort tests one’s ability.
If you don’t think so, take it from me
For I’ve spent years hoping to be
A master of this craft called poetry,
Realizing it takes a lot of mastery,
Someday I hope to claim a victory
With a poem making literary history!

A Positive Outlook
Each day starts off shiny and bright
It's often hard to keep it that way
External forces beyond our control
Can influence and affect us each day
If we're strong and resist temptation
Then most days are filled with joy
Though each one's still a bit of a challenge
A positive outlook we must employ
Take it from me, been round for a while
So experience is what I've got
In my seventy plus decades here on earth
Seen it all since I was a wee tot
