We Love Dark

all use light at work
                                            few things unknowingly hate
                                                before sleep switch off

Gaza

Gaza
The baby
Wrapped in a blanket
Looks at the camera
Emaciated face
Large eyes
Incomprehensively
Looks at me
I lower my gaze
Who is going to
Switch off
The killing machine
This harvester of
Of death
Not yet, not yet

New Medication

The doctor gave me some medication.
He said "This will make you feel much better."

It made me feel nothing.

So...better = nothing.

Pills to switch off the brain.

So...brain switched off = better.

Conform = life (death?)

Premium Member Death

Death likes
A flash of lightning
A falling leaf
A broken rope
A big fire burning to ash
A wind blew off candle
A switch off of the plug
All of a sudden
A story comes to an end
A movrment comes to a stop
But sadness refracted
In all directions

Choices, choices. Choices…. And a bit of a patch of ice patturn.

Back In Time

Ashes to ashes ,
Dust to dust,
Send me back to my unborn days,
Send me to save myself
From this horrible plot of my life
The terrible script of my story.
Send me back to delete the first scene of my life,
Ship me back to the past to switch off my tiny heartbeat, to cut the story short.

Ode To An Ocelot

Not a lot of ocelots are seen in the day they prefer the evening or the night if an ocelot you're hot to spot altho' it's quite a long shot an ocelot you want to sight you may even hit the jackpot if you do it right all you've really got to do is switch off the light

Eulogy For Wangari Maathai

Wangari Maathai is not dead
I roll back my tear
Peer from my window
Deep the grooming forest

Switch off my radio
Tear the headline
I refuse the epitaph
I write no word

Her monument must sprout
Beyond the canopy
She died to defend

Let Wangari not die
Mother of mother nature
Where she lives!

Questions

She sits and stares blankly,
Thoughts running through her head.
Pen in her hand,
What will she do next?

She lets out a huge sigh,
Eye-lids wanting to close.
Muscles are tense,
What will she do next?

She must go to sleep now,
Her mind just won't switch off.
It might sometime,
What will she do next?

Crank Up the Volume

When all else fails in this world
And it seems like it won't get better
Just find a place for you to be
Switch off the world for a while

Crank up the volume so you hear
Every song you love and sing out
For that is the reason alone you need
To get back your life and from it you feed.

Premium Member The Arrival Of Night

Dusk unveils the stars, light by light; as blue morphs into ebony. And as silhouettes fade from sight, scarlet bleeds from a dying sun, marking the arrival of night. Slowly absorbing pinks and greys, chameleon clouds switch off white. And Luna rises splendidly; like a Chinese lantern in flight.

Siesta In the Moonlight

I believe I learned how to count syllables today :'D Would be happy to know even if I didn't, so do critique! :) Siesta In The Moonlight And we crawl under The blanket of moonlit stars Silence our white noise Reading the books of our thoughts Satisfied; switch off our eyes _____________________________

Premium Member The Ultimate Prevaricator

He is the ultimate prevaricator.
No one can tell a tale like he does.
He makes up facts faster than others can check them.
The news channels are busy though, fact checking.
Sadly he is in a position of power, demonstrating every type of lying.
We switch off our TVs hoping our youth will not be tainted.
However, it is unfortunately, too late. They already are.

Hudhud

Nature and Nature fight,
To switch off the light.
And to grab the right,
that loosens us at night.

People say it's not good,
since it grabs our food.
For so it should,
Be called Hudhud.

A day for destructing,
a decade for reconstructing.
With such power of its Incoming,
And an obstacle for Outgoing.

Bye bye Hudhud,
Never again say you could.

Premium Member Too Busy

In the hub of action
strangers’ faces
pass by in a blur
rushing and racing
too busy to connect
smiles in absentia
their on switch off
most probably
conserving energy
overwhelmed
exhausted
barely keeping up
with the pace
of living

The IT Man

The man from IT is here again today,
Somethings gone wrong and it fills us with dismay.

The screens have all gone blank and everything has just shut down,
The man from IT just sits with a frown.

Then the junior who makes the tea,
As confidently as only the young can be.

Reaches across to press the switch off then on,
We all look again and guess what the problem has gone!!

Tonight I Will Make You Mine

Tonight it’s just you and me
Give in my heart ecstasy

Tonight my dreams will come true
In my arms I will hold you

Tonight I won’t switch off light
To see you and feel alright

Tonight I will kiss you jaan
Like pellets of a popgun

Tonight we will sing and dance
In breathtaking wild romance

Tonight I will let you know
I am like your sweet shadow

Your body is like old wine
Tonight I will make you mine

Premium Member Recruiting Poster

The recruiting poster incited little Lee.
He could barely wait to shove out to sea.
His cousin joined too, because joining was free.
The recruiter told them how rich they could be.

Grandma McGee got a long switch off a sycamore tree.
She went after that cagey recruiter who started to flee.
He was terrified of this woman who swung a switch like a he.
But he stopped recruiting young men from the Family McGee.

Mind

Mind soaked with thoughts
Slow in the move soughts
consume every peny of time
Wondering around spill wine
Turning the system of nerve slow down
Like a furious anger overflow down
What a fuss in the meantime potash alum
Slowing the tick tock motion of pendulum
In thw sunshine dusk appearence in vision
Blurred the path down in a mid sun
O peace in the senerio gone
Switch off the mind not on
to face the music tone.

Gogglebox

Gogglebox
A T.V program about people watching T.V
If this is not the beginning of the end
Then what is
A program about people watching T.V
Is this the best we can come up with
And they are now considered celebrities
And we have to pay a license fee to watch this crap
God help us all if this is creativity
Switch off the lights and unplug the phone
When time is spent watching our reflection
Back at us reality is bust

Dolce Far Niente

DOLCE FAR NIENTE

A gentle idleness, so well deserved
After the hurly-burly of a busy week
Assuming control to just switch off
Relax, and then raise a toast to sloth
It’s a long way down from the peak
This nothing time has been reserved

A welcome void of silent emptiness
Eyes closed, and all phones muted
Time to reflect on what I’ve built
Yet the prize is that I feel no guilt
A well-earned rest may be disputed
But to me it matters not, I confess
