Summer solstice in June means sun will play
all day its longest; soon
it is coming on its way -
and this year on a Friday.
Shimmering in the heat of the sun
Time stretched golden landscapes
Summer solstice, sunrise to sunset
Yellow orb sinking in fluorescent sea
The summer solstice
in years past so much welcomed...
now there's foreboding:
soaring temps, wildfires, drought...
idyllic days are numbered.

A pink strawberry super moon so bright

Winter
Approaches
The sun ascends
From the left of east,
And sets due left of west.
During daylight hours sits low,
After winter solstice, gains height.
Peaking when summer solstice arrives
Then starts its orbital journey once more.

A pair of pretty hands with precision
shoot daft sunshine-filled sparks.
Her heated strut creates a collision
between what’s frozen and a wildfire.
Lightning rod with the sound turned on
an interstellar quake…
Bringing about melodic destruction
and that season built for heartbreak.
A moving summer solstice vision.
Sprinklers arc
white rainbows
over emerald grass
The jets
burst
in nimbus shadows
geysering
a shimmer
of translucent flurries
under opal rays

of periwinkle ripple
and fountains
of lavender
sway

Peony delight, nectar of princesses
Joyful ebony ants paraded toward them
A steady stream, covering the bulb of a blossom
The plant rejoiced. Loving the attention.
Wind whistled approval; sure sign of summer solstice.
Blossoms tucked inside, listened to the avalanche of attention.
Instantly recognizing and approving the wonderfulness of nature
I saw you
for one fleeting moment,
a hug
on the cusp
of summer solstice,
that steady frigid
rock of winter
once more dissolved,
like a ghost of Christmas past,
while
I saw you
for one fleeting moment,
your Hawaiian shirt
a miniature rainbow,
smiling of color,
your indifference
well rehearsed,
letting me know,
your heart
was set,
a tombstone
around us.
All the trimmed details
of the burial
are finished,
as the summer solstice
breeze
glides with the softness
of a mother's arms,
through the ancient cemetery
where we waited to place your urn,
big and blue as the sky, until summers canopy welcomed you
with the history
of wisdom
into the soft earth,
just so your first night home
would not surprise you
with the solitude of winter.

At the same time in the sky
