Solstice 2023
I saw you
for one fleeting moment,
a hug
on the cusp
of summer solstice,
that steady frigid
rock of winter
once more dissolved,
like a ghost of Christmas past,
while
I saw you
for one fleeting moment,
your Hawaiian shirt
a miniature rainbow,
smiling of color,
your indifference
well rehearsed,
letting me know,
your heart
was set,
a tombstone
around us.
